Dubbo Wether Challenge & Junior Judging, Parkes Last week was a busy week for our Agriculture Department with two very successful excursions.
On Monday, a group of students travelled to Dubbo to participate in the School Wether Challenge
(over 3 days), and on Wednesday, a separate group of students competed in Junior Judging at
Parkes.
Congratulations to all of those students who were involved with these excursions on their
commitment and the exemplary way they conducted themselves and represented Canowindra
High School. Special thanks to Mrs Nealon and Mrs Parker for their time and efforts in preparing
the students, and to Mr Ball and Mr Breen for their assistance and support on the day.

Principal’s News
Congratulations to our Show Team on their success at two outings last week. A group of students travelled to Dubbo for the three day camp as part of the School Wether competition. Although the students did not win, they did however win from the experience and showed that they were amazing ambassadors for our school. A big thank you to Mrs Nealon and Mr Breen for supporting the students over the three days. Also, on Wednesday, a group of students travelled to Parkes to participate in the Junior Judging competition at the annual show. These students had outstanding success in a very competitive field and I would like to congratulate all the students for their participation and success. Hayley Watson (merino and grain), Kathleen Pace (merino), Chloe Bellach (fruit + vegetable), Caitlyn Roy (merino) and Maisie Harrison (fruit + vegetable and grain) all picked up ribbons. In particular, I would like to commend Darcy Merchant who came away at the end of the day having received 1st in meat sheep, fruit + vegetable, merino fleece, and 2nd in merino judging. Darcy also received the most successful judge ribbon for her efforts. A big thank you to the many parents who attended our Subject Selection evening last week for students moving into Years 9 or 11 in 2020. Students have completed their required paperwork and we will now be looking at the lines we will be able to run next year based on these choices. Last Thursday our Year 12 Design and Technology students submitted their final HSC Major Works and this Monday is the due date for our Visual Arts students. These are the last of the projects to be completed at CHS this year and I would like to commend the students for their effort and commitment in completing these projects, and their teachers for the support they have consistently provided. With only four weeks of the term to go the proximity of the HSC examination period is becoming a reality for our Year 12 students. Congratulations to Andy Townsend on being the successful recipient of the weekly Canteen Voucher.
