Due to the rapidly increasing interest in EETGs, we have made the following
changes to the program this year:
1) We will only be offering grants over Summer Break.
2) There will be one deadline for your complete application: March 1
3) We will announce awards no later than April 1.
4) Letters of Support must be re-ceived by March 1. Student applicants are responsible for informing their letter writers of the deadline and making sure the letter arrives by the March 1 dead-
line. The support letter is part of the COMPLETE application.

All Sophomores and Juniors (defined as students graduating between May 2017 and May 2018) who plan re-search careers in the STEM fields are encouraged to attend.

It's almost October, and that means you are probably in the midst of the semester's first round of exams, papers, and projects. For freshmen, that means you've also received (or are about to receive) your first real set of college grades.
For most freshmen Honors students, your first grades will be some-where in the range of great to not-as-good-as-I'd-like-them-to-be-but-not terrible. Only a few of you will have grades lower than that, and then probably only in one or two classes.
If your grades aren't where you want them to be, the first thing to do is to figure out exactly where you stand in each course. Are the grades curved? How much does your first test count toward your final grade? Get in the habit of accurately estimating your final grade "if the semester ended today." If you're in doubt, ask your professor or TA.
Above all, take a deep breath, congratulate yourself on surviving the first two months of college, and set out to improve your perfor-mance from here on out. Our Honors advisers (Katie Maxwell, Leah Boyd, and Joey Dunaway) are always here to help. The Academic Success Center (ASC) offers tutoring, how-to videos, and academic coaching and counseling. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) can also help with issues that go beyond academics. If all is going well, keep up the good work! But if you have any problems or concerns, now is the time to act! Good luck on all your papers and exams, and let us know if we can help in any way! -- Dr. Lasser

In recent years, Chinese outbound investment has increased significantly, including that comes to the United States, which directly employs more than 80,000 Americans with $46 billion in 1,583 Chinese establishments. This event is designed to give the audience a better understanding of U.S.-China rela-tions as well as the effect of Chinese investment on our own communities, in a dialogue and panel dis-cussion with four distinguished speakers.
CHRISTIAN MURCK, president of American Cham-ber of Commerce in China (2010-13), now serves on the International Advisory Council of APCO World-wide and as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Yale-China Association. ROBERT RUBIN, U.S. Sec-retary of the Treasury (1995-99), served on the Board of Directors at Citigroup before joining Center view Partners as a senior counselor in 2010. SHELDON A. DAY has served as mayor of the City of Thomasville (AL) since 1996. DANIEL ROSEN, a senior advisor for international economic policy on the White House National Economic Coun-cil and National Security Council, founded the Rhodi-um Group that combines policy experience, quanti-tative economic tools and on-the-ground research to analyze disruptive global trends.
