Result from EforE’s survey:

• Fertilizer plant: purchasing price 300 THB/ton

• Minimum Wage: 150 THB/ton

• Labor Collection Capacity: 1 ton/day

• Distance of Vehicle Access from Collecting

Point 800 Meter

• Distance to Power Plant 15-20 km.

• Processing Cost (Wood Chopping) 150 THB/ton

• Transportation Cost 50 THB/ton

Assumptions for transportation Cost:

• Petrol Price: 40 THB/Litre

• Fuel Cost for transportation in 20 km: 750 THB/trip

• Wood Weight per Trip: 17 ton

Cost of Wood Residues = 500 Bht./ton

Fuel price will depend on the financial analysis.

Level ofUnderstanding

Attitude onEnvironmental

Impacts

Acceptance

• High public acceptance due to increasing revenues from job creation and selling biomass

• Good relationship between FIO plantations and locals creates public acceptance e.g. Chiang Tong

• Awritten social contract with the local authority as assurance on environmental impacts effectively create confidence and acceptance of biomass power plants from communities.

Group 1 : No background on Biomass power plant, but concerns on environmental impactsGroup 2 : Strong concern on environmental impacts especially Those in Lampang Province due to their experiences fromEnvironmental impacts of Coal-fired power plant

• Developer shall provide info on environmental impacts and mitigation option.

• The project should at least conduct IEE to ensure that all environmental impacts are taken into considertion.

• Low level of understanding

• It is crucial to provide basic information on biomass power plant to the locals once start project implementation.
