Dat sy ook haar rol in opvoerings soos The Sleeping Beauty, The Four Seasons, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet en Cinderella so mees- terlik sou vertolk? “My rol as Alice is baie uitdagend omdat ek 106 minute lank sonder ophou op die verhoog moet wees.
Hy was baie positief en ’n per-feksionis.

So 100m voor elke draaipunt moes ekstadiger anders sou ek nie my draai maak
Dit was so
amper, amper!
Alles was hoogtepunte,

Muir College Junior School learnersencouraged 169 parents, familymembers and teachers to donate
blood as part of their annual Adopt-a-MonthPrimary School Blood Donation Challenge.
This was the highest number of donors re-cruited by Muir since the inception of theprogramme in 2006.Grade 4C, under the leadership ofMrs Bay-
man, was announced as the top performingclasswith 55 blood donations in total and 68%learner participation. Skye O’Connor inGrade 7C was the top individual recruiterwhomanaged to get 16 people to donate bloodas part of this initiative. The Adopt-a-Month program was designed
to educate future blood donors since a personmay only donate blood from the age of 16.
At the same time, learners are encouragedto motivate their parents and family mem-bers to donate, to contribute towards the na-tional blood supply of which the demand isrising year on year. Both these goals areachieved with research showing that up to60% of learners who participate in this pro-gramme become blood donors themselvesonce they reach the appropriate age. ThePortElizabeth Branch of SANBS, which includestheUitenhage area, currentlyhas 20 partici-pating primary schools.“The schedule is quite full with the maxi-
mum of three primary schools adopting amonth. The onlyway to extend this initiativeis to sign up more primary schools,” saidMaryke Harris from SANBS Port Elizabeth.Currently, only months that fall over
school holiday periods are available, such asApril, June & July.In 2014, 4 039 units of blood were collected
as a direct result of this initiative. It is be-lieved that with the current trend, 2015 willbe a record year, with more blood donors in-volved.

The annual Park Tigers Baseball Tourna-ment produced some brilliant baseball lastweekend and the VW Baseball Club lifted thetrophy after beating the hosts in the final 5-2.
A fine batting display by captain, WikusOliphant, closely followed by Sheldon vanSchalkwyk, Mario Schwartz, Brendon Ol-iphant and Anton Siebert paved the victoryfor VW BC.
Wikus batted 3-3 with Sheldon, Mario,Brendon and Anton batting 2-3 on the day.The pitcher catcher combination of BarendNiemand and Wikus Oliphant worked wellfor VW on the day with Barend holding mostTigers batted at bay. In the field, AntonSchwartz at centre field was rock solid, closely followed by Brendon Oliphant at firstbase, who was responsible for making themost plays of the day.
VW BC coach, Terrence Gouws, said hewas immensely proud of the boys, as theyhave been working hard behind the scenes, and it paid off in the final.
“Baseball was the winner and this excitesus as we prepare to send our youngstersaway to the IRT nationals, next week. Wewish all participants well,” said Gouws.
As a fitting send off to all baseballers,Keith Grobler, the in-form catcher of RedSox, also showed his support for VW BC onthe day, and this brought out the best of theguys.
For Tigers Charl Ungerer, pitched the firsttwo frames and then was replaced by LukeJamieson, who kept most VW batters at bay, getting 5 strike outs and allowing only 2 hitsin the 2 frames that he pitched.
For Tigers, Luke Jamieson, tried hard dur-ing the tournament hitting the only home-run on the day, leading up to the final. CharlUngerer, Hennie Stander and Leon Willettried hard on the day, but they just couldn’tfind the gaps, as a result of the brilliant field-ing display and defence from the VW side.
Piet Momberg, chairman of Park Tigers, said, “It was a great day of baseball and soft-ball. Hats off to the Park Panthers for beingvictorious with the softball, it would’ve beengreat for the boys to lift the trophy, howeverit is what happens between the white linesthat makes the difference.
