The preconditioning process - preparing the feed mixture for effective processing through steam conditioning, pressing, and cooling, significantly impacts feed processing performance.

The goal during a batch process is to limit process variability within a batch to ensure feed pellets have uniform quality with little variability. A sophisticated online process management system supports the MillSMART program.

A powerful surface active agent is needed to give uniform dispersion and penetration of the conditioning solution to be able to cover the surface area of a ton of feed.
