mighty forgiveness of sins and the gift of eter-nal life.

Our ability to remain faithful comes from sticking close to Jesus Christ. Katerina Von Bora, wife of Martin Lu-ther said, “I will stick to Christ as a burr to a topcoat!”

By God’s grace through Jesus Christ, each and every day we can claim a new life, as we look forward to the life to come. By the beautiful and renewing power of the Holy Spirit through God’s Holy Scriptures and Holy Sacraments do we continue to fight the good fight of faith, and remain faithful even unto the point of death. By committed weekly worship in God’s house with our fellow family members in Christ do we refortify our faith and revive our souls. By the personal priority of daily prayer and daily devo-tion can we calm and shepherd our thoughts.

Prayer: God grant me strength to be faithful even unto death. In Je-sus my Everlasting Sav-ior, Amen!

Pastor Love

James Crane worked on the 101st floor of Tower I of the World Trade Center. He is blind so he has a gold-en retriever named Dai-sy. After the plane hit 20 stories below, James knew that he was doomed, so he let Daisy go, out of an act of love. She darted away into the darkened hallway. Choking on the fumes of the jet fuel and the smoke James was just waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy comes back along with James’ boss, who Daisy just happened to pick up on floor 112. On her first run of the building, she leads James, James’ boss, and about 300 more people out of the doomed building. But she wasn’t through yet, she knew there were others who were trapped. So, highly against James’ wishes she ran back in the building. On her second run, she saved 392 lives. Again she went back in. During this run, the building collapses. James hears about this and falls on his knees into tears.

Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out alive, but this time she is carried by a firefight-er. “She led us right to the people, before she got injured” the fireman explained. Her final run saved another 273 lives. She suffered acute smoke inhalation, severe burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but she saved 967 lives.

The next week, Mayor Giuliani rewards Daisy with the Canine medal of Honor of New York. Daisy is the first civilian Canine to win such an honor.

Praise God for this beautiful example of f a i t h fu lness even among His simpler creatures. Being faithful in a fallen and continu-ally falling world is cer-tainly not easy.

We draw strength from the Son of God Himself, who left His throne above and was faithful even unto death on a cross that we might have the gift of eternal life. Only because of Jesus Christ faithful-ness unto death do we have the greatest gifts of all, the gift of the al-

QUILTERS will be taking a break until Thursday, Sept 13. They will then resume their weekly 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Thursday timeslot.

We received a letter from the two congregations of Faith

Lutheran Church of Merrill, WI and St John Lutheran

Church of Athens [Hamburg], WI. They have extended

a Divine call to Pastor Love, and they write:

“As Pastor Love considers his decision, we ask you to join us in

praying that the Holy Spirit may guide him and that the will

of God may be done.”

I would like to thank Pastor Love and all of my church fami-ly for all of the prayers, cards, and visits. It was very much

appreciated; and, frankly, overwhelming. God bless you all. - Roy Koester

Wow! Back to school time! It’s hard to believe we haven’t had Preschool in three months! We have been working hard in our classrooms getting things set up and ready for the student’s first day! We have a very full house this year with limited openings. We are blessed to have so many students coming so we can share the LOVE of Jesus with them! We ask that you please pray for us and for the students and their families as we all start fresh this fall!

LUTHERAN HOUR MINISTRIES CALLS NEW FULL-TIME SPEAKER LHM is pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler of St. Louis, Missouri, has accepted a call to serve as Speaker of The Lutheran Hour radio program. Zeigler succeeds to the microphone following the departure of Rev. Dr. Gregory Seltz, who accepted a call in 2017 to serve as executive director of the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty. He will officially begin his ministry with LHM on Oct. 1 and will broadcast his first sermon on Reformation Sunday (Oct. 28).

With the all the recent efforts around calling Rev. Dr. Zeigler, LHM has elected to dig into the archives this month instead of August. The classic sermons to be revisited include…

Sept 2 - "Eager to Preach the Good News" Dr. Oswald Hoffmann (Romans 1:14-17) In a classic message from 1968, Dr. Oswald Hoffmann says, "The Good News (of Christ) is really good; good enough to believe, good enough to trust." Sept 9 - "The Changeless Christ for a Changing World" Dr. Walter A. Maier (Hebrews 13:8) In a classic message first heard in 1937, Dr. Walter A. Maier tells how Christ comes to us in our world of change and decay with a message of unchanging hope. Sept 16 - "The Mystery of God" Dr. Oswald Hoffmann (Isaiah 55:6-9) The undeniable hiddenness of God becomes the openness of God when you see His Son, Jesus Christ. Sept 23 - "Come, Lord Jesus" Rev. Dr. Dale A. Meyer (Exodus 16) In a classic message from 1998, Dr. Dale Meyer explains how a common table prayer reminds us of our dependence upon God and His gifts. Sept 30 - "Cut Off-for Us" Dr. Lawrence R. Rast Jr. (Mark 9:38-50) Sin is serious because it cuts us off from God. Guest speaker Dr. Lawrence Rast says Jesus was cut off from God, in our place. September airings of The Lutheran Hour on WIBK are sponsored by Calvary. Tune in Sundays at 8

AM to AM-1360 or FM-96.9.

Calvary’s LWML will be having a BAKE-LESS BAKE-SALE September 9th and 16th. The proceeds will be going to the Feed the Children Backpack Program in Danville, Illinois.

Rose Gates, a member of Trinity Lutheran in Danville, started this program in 2010 when

she learned that many children go hungry on the weekends. She strongly believed that this should not be happening in our country.

Out of the need she saw, she started Feed the Children Backpack Program. During the school year volunteers fill the backpacks with nonperishable food items and the backpacks are sent home with children on Fridays. The children in need have been identified by teachers and social workers and are from seven different schools in the Danville area.

The Danville Zone of LWML of which Calvary LWML is a part of, are collecting monetary donations this fall to be used to buy food for this backpack program. Thank you for helping us support this much-needed program! Trudy Bell
