Anew partnership will see one of South Afri-ca’s top six festivals continue to grow andcontribute to community upliftment in theSundays River, according to SPARKirkwoodWildsfees board chairman Paul Marais.“We are delighted and honoured that the
SPAR group has decided to ‘go wild’ with usfor at least the next three years as the namingsponsor,” he says. The 15-year-old festival is one of the only
ones in the country to be owned by the com-munity through a not-for-profit company.“Giving back to the local community is one
of the key objectives of the SPARGroup. Part-nering with a festival of this professional cal-ibre that aims at enriching the immediatecommunity, seemed a natural fit,” says AbriSwart, Marketing Director of SPAR Eastern
Cape.“The SPAR concept was established more
than 80 years ago on the basis that workingin partnership is to the benefit of customers, retailers, wholesalers and the food industry. This extends to our sponsorship of eventssuch as the SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees.”Preparations are already well under way
for the 2016SPARKirkwoodWildsfees,whichwill be held from Friday, June 24 to Sunday,June 26, according to festival director JenniHonsbein.“Every year we bring in new attractions
for the whole family. This year one of theshowstopperswill be theZip ZapCircus fromCape Town – South Africa’s very own AussieCircus where people, not animals, are thestars.
“We are already working closely withSPAR to help us communicate with over50 000 annual visitors to the festival – andthose families who have not yet had theWildsfees experience. It is, we believe, thebiggest family festival in the country.”

Eastern Cape programmers arebeing challenged to take SMScommunication to a new level atthe next Propella FuturemakersHub hackathon.
Hosted in the Propella Future-makers ICT hub on April 22, thehackathon is challenging pro-grammers to think outside thebox to create a marketable bulkSMS service.
“The intellectual property willremain with the programmer orteam which develops the apps, and they are encouraged tomakethem available to the market,”says Ellen Fischat, business sup-port manager at the Propella Fu-turemakers Hub.
“What the market is lookingfor is bulk SMS apps which allowthem to, for example, communi-cate more effectively with theircustomers or to keep their salesteams in the field updated on thelatest offers and pricing,” shesays.
The challenge for the program-mers is to ensure that the app
cannot be hijacked or used byspammers and that it complieswith privacy regulations.
Programmers will be encour-aged to think about their poten-tial buyers when designing theirspecific system instead of the ge-neric system that is alreadyavailable.
If the buyer is going to be aschool or university so they cansend bulk messages to their at-tendees then programmers candesign it around what theywould need.
The hack will be fuelled withbottomless cups of coffee, pizzaand chips – with participants be-ing connected tooneof the fastestdigital lines in the Eastern Cape.
On Friday, April 22 everyonewho thinks they have what ittakes to develop a unique bulkSMS sender and receiver is invit-ed to join fellow programmers tobattle it out to create the betterSMS system from scratch.

Known as the Water Sports Capital ofSouth Africa among others, NelsonMan-

for Dolphin Studies in South Africa showedthat approximately 20 000 Bottlenose Dol-phins were in Algoa Bay in Nelson MandelaBay. Today that number is estimated at 30 000dolphins, which surpasses other areasaround the world.“Establishing the city as the Bottlenose
Capital of the World can branch out into anumber of tourism and economic opportuni-ties in line with the aims of the blue econo-my,” said Mandlakazi Skefile, Chief Execu-tive Officer of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism.“This title, in addition to our region being
placed at world class standards with threeblue flag status beaches, being nominated as
one of the top ports in the country for theWorld Travel Awards, and of course beingknown as the water sports capital of SouthAfrica places us miles ahead of our competi-tors in terms of the attractiveness of our des-tination and will go towards getting morevisitors on to our shores,” added Skefile. The launchof this initiative also brings in-
to focus the need to educate the communityabout the unique ecology of the local coast-line, getting themtoparticipate in spreadingthe word about its importance and contrib-uting to growing a sustainable economy.Skefile said that plans are already under-
way to launch a Dolphin Festival, possiblyduringMarineMonth inOctober. She addedit will be a celebration of these friendly crea-tures with the permanent smiles on their fa-ces.“We are privileged to be in a position to
lay claim to this natural attraction and thebenefitwill be to further establish thisCapitalon the international map in order to market
another attraction to what we already haveto offer as a world class tourist destination,”Skefile concluded

The Waste Trade Company announced itswinners of the 2016 school project, andLaer-skool Albertyn was among the top threeschools in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
Albertyn learners collected a total of2 914 kg of items for recycling. This earnedthe school R1 000 in cash, donated byMpactRecycling SA.“The education of our youth lies at the
heart of preserving the planet and creatingenvironmental awareness, therefore weaim to empower kids with the knowledgeand principles of recycling,” said EmmyNxayeka, The Waste Trade Company’sSchools Project Co-ordinator.The Schools Project was initiated in 2009
as part of The Waste Trade Company’s so-cial responsibility campaign and has sincesigned up 180 schools in the Nelson Man-dela Bay Metro.Understanding the nature of children,
the project was built on the following prin-ciple: “Tell me and I’ll forget, show me andImaynot remember, involvemeand I’ll un-derstand.”The Schools Project visits schools to
teach the children about recycling andwaste separation not only by show and tell, but by involving them in the process.Children are encouraged to bring recyc-
lable materials from home, which they getto distribute in the waste separation area
after attending the theoretical info session.Participating schools benefit from the freecollection of recyclable materials and therebate received fromTheWaste TradeCom-pany for the recyclables. The funds are usu-ally put towards buying sporting equip-ment, upgrades or even creating soup kitch-ens in the underprivileged communities.“This initiative has been a huge success
and we are also facilitating educationalfield trips to our depot. The children cannowhave a firsthand experience of themag-nitude of waste processed per day and seehow it is being separated,” said Nxayeka
Businesses and industries in the NelsonMandela Bay Metro now have the opportu-nity to donate their waste to schools.Through companies’ involvement with thisworthwhile project, they will become partof an enthusiastic group working towardsa cleaner environment and the conserva-tion of ournatural resources, saving energyfor the generations to come and assistingschool in raising much-needed funds. The Waste Trade Company 2016 school
project winners were Kabega Primary(11481 kg) with BJ Mnyanda Primary asrunners-up (6443 kg).

Met dié poging wil Oosthuizen soveel asmoontlik geld insamel sodat looprame enrolstoele vir fisiek gestremdes gekoop kanword.Hy beoog om van die Baai regdeur Kaap

There is currently high demand forrental homes in the Eastern Capetowns of Uitenhage andDespatch and
this makes them hotspots for property in-vestors.“Unfortunately, however, it also makes
them amagnet for an increasing number ofunlicensed managing agents who are defi-nitely not acting in the interests of locallandlords,” saysCharlotteVermaak, direct-or of the Chas Everitt International fran-chise in Nelson Mandela Bay.“There are also many private landlords
in these areas who are not aware of the le-galities that need to be observed when rent-ing out property, and it is primarily to as-sist themthatwehavedecided to extendourrental property management division intothe Uitenhage and Despatch node.”
Property management serviceChas Everitt Property Rentals, she says,
offers landlords a comprehensive lettingand property management service provid-ed by qualified and registered agents, in-cluding:
.The use of lease documentation that iscompliantwith all relevant legislation suchas the Consumer Protection Act;
.The management of tenant deposits, which by law must be held in an interest-bearing account; and
.The management of ingoing and outgo-ing property inspections, which must beheld in order for damages to be recoveredfrom the tenant’s deposit if required.
“Even more importantly, we will be in aposition to perform proper backgroundchecks in order to secure tenants with goodcredit, employment and leasing records andensure lowdefault levels for our landlords.”Meanwhile,Vermaaksays, the latestTPN
Rental Monitor shows that rental demandin the Nelson Mandela Bay metro is veryhigh, however the supply of rental stock isweak.“Rising food, utility and transport costs
aswell as higher interest rates are also plac-ing constraints on tenants’ ability to payhigher rentals, and landlords need to walka fine line at the moment if they wish tokeep quality tenants and avoid delinquen-cies.”As a result, rental inflation in the area fell
to 2,68% year-on-year in the fourth quarterof 2015, from 7,47% in the previous quarter.Fortunately, she says, the average prop-
erty rental for the Eastern Cape is R5 120a month, which falls into the R3 000 - R7 000a month category identified by TPN as a“sweet spot” that enjoys a very high per-centage (88,2%) of tenants in good standing.“In addition the overall percentage of
tenants in good standing in the EasternCape is second only to the Western Cape, and well ahead of the national average, afact which makes the region even more at-tractive to property investors.”

AFTER 20 PAINFUL YEARSMAMA GIFT
Brought happiness in my broken familyFor many years I have suffered in my marriage, I had daily fights with my husband and I had no peace becauseof my jealous family, friends and my in-laws who also hated me. I felt betrayed and heartbroken by my own people, sleepless nights and stress nearly killed me. I tried many healers but they all failed to help until I heard about MamaGift on Radio. With the only R200 I had in life, Mama Gift took my fortune readings and surprised me by tellingaccurately about my husband`s hidden family secrets. They then made special prayers and gave me powerful Indianherbal holy water for cleansing and special oil. Within just days a miracle happened , all my enemies and family in-lawswho hated me came back to make peace with me. After suffering 20 painful years, today we are the happiest coupleand I am grateful. Because of Mama Gift`s special prayers of blessings, I have became a successful business woman.

There is a photo of a notice board, some-where between the outskirts and no-where, which is doing the WhatsApp
round among VW Syncro owners and itreads: “All drivers of 4x4s please engage yourfour wheel drive. Select low range. Lock allhubs & diff. Cross your fingers. VW Syncrojust drives normally.”
This will be evident during the forthcom-ing 2016 VW Syncro Saamtrek which will beheld atGariepForeverResort next to theGar-iep Dam from April 27th until May 2nd. It isorganised by Stuart Stirling from Syncro SA,VW Syncro Forum which boasts more than1 500 registered members in South Africa.Uitenhage is home to a number of Syncro-
nauts, who adore these off-the-beaten-trackfamily size four wheel drive vehicles. Brows-ing on You Tube, there are exciting videos of
locals in their Syncros cruising the Baviaansor enjoying the off-road challenges at TheMeadows in the Elands River Valley.Travelling the approximately 500km from
Uitenhage toGariep, will beworth the boringtar road cruising, as the 2016 Saamtrek willbe loaded with Syncro adventure and cama-raderie. The provisional itinerary for theSaamtrek includes a dam wall tour, easy go-ing 4x4 trail, nature reserve trail, boat cruiseon dam, tiger farm tour, an obstacle courseand various other outdoor activities. Theseare not included in the Saamtrek package.“This is a fun event. The idea is to get 100
Syncros together and to meet all the peopleyou chat to on the Syncro Forum. We don’tcare what Syncros look like. Dented, bashed, rusted, well used, pristine, caravelle, camp-er, doka, just get it there. Themore themerri-er,” said Stuart Stirling on the Syncro SA Fo-rum newsletter. One of the highlights will be the Syncro
Count Day, where all the Syncros will join ina dam wall drive as well as crossing thebridge over the Orange River. They then willdrive around the dam via Bethulie to getsome spectacular video footage of the Saam-trek. There will, of course, be a bit of fourwheel drive “showing off” and there is no onemore capable than Stuart Pitbull Wonder-boom. Go check out his skills on You Tube… Syncromad!Home is where your Syncro is and during
the five nights’ stay there will be communalbraai fires each evening with a spit braai onthe Saturday evening. There has not been a national Syncro
Saamtrek since 2008. So all Syncros are wel-come, T3, T4 and T5 4 motions as well as nor-mal VW buses, Amaroks, Touaregs and anyother VW 4x4 vehicles.
