1. INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT
1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This is the final project for this module.
For this project, we are assigned to
locate a piece of land to construct
something which is beneficial to the
society. Therefore, the name of our
project is “ Taman Mewah”. It involves
the construction of a recreational area with parks for the residences around the area, running
pathway & tracks for joggers, gazebo and pergolas. The project is on the open area of a 50m x
70m ( 3500m2 ) site just located in front of the Subang Jaya LRT Station and above Subang
Parade. The site is currently not in use and it is a missed opportunity to develop a beautiful
location.
The agreement of the project brief is estimated to be signed on 15 June 2015. The whole
construction process is approximately 4 months.
1.2 SITE ANALYSIS
Photos of the site:

Location Plan
This site has been a large vacant space since 200* without any construction or renovation. Hence,
most areas of the site is covered with grass and soil. A site analysis shows that the site is ideal for
the construction plan due to the following reasons:
1. Large enough to occupy large amount of residences.
2. Easily accessible. Residences can take LRT or buses to reach the location.
3. Has good ventilation due to large open space.
4. Has a lot of un utilised space available for new development.
5. Able to provide a healthy and beautiful scenery for the residences around.
6. The topography of the land is flat and smooth.
7. The land is firm with soil but it is muddy sometimes when rain occurs.
8. The microclimate of the sun rises at the east side of the land and sets at the west side of
the land.
9. There is no other recreational area such as open parks nearby the area.
Major buildings around the site:
4
AEON BIG SUBANG PARADE
SAUJANA RESIDENCY E-Tiara Apartment
Other findings:
1. Residence nearby always access to AEON BIG, Subang Parade or Subang Avenue for
shopping and spending leisure time.
2. There are a few residency around the suggested site such as Saujana Residency, Subang
Avenue, E-Tiara & Casa Tiara Condominium.
3. Large carpark in front of Subang Parade.
4. Low frequency of traffic jam will occur on the roads at the location of the site.
Transportation:
1. Transportation around the other site that can be used is Subang Jaya KTM which is located right
behind AEON BIG and Subang Parade.
2. There is also a bus stop in front of AEON BIG .

1.3 PROJECT CONCEPT
The project team explored a variety of possible ideas and concepts that could be incorporated in
this construction project after conducting the site analysis. The finished project will be function as a
recreational park and rest area.
The following concepts are combined in this project:
Parks with jogging pathway
A park is an area of open space provided for recreational use. It can be in its natural or semi-
natural state, or planted, and it is set aside for human enjoyment or for the protection of wildlife or
natural habitats. It may consist of rocks, soil, water, flora and fauna and grass areas, but may also
contain buildings and other artifacts such as play grounds and gazebos.
Gazebo
Gazebos are freestanding elements that can be found in park. It is roofed, and open on all sides.
They provide shade, shelter, ornamental features in a landscape, and it is also a place to rest.
Some gazebos in public parks are large enough to serve as bandstands or rain shelters.
3. A small water feature will be built in the middle section of the suggested area, in order
to provide enjoyment and some relaxing scenery for the residents.
4. A service centre will be built and function both as reception counter and a convenient
store for the residents around.
5. Garden lamps and benches will be added along the jogging pathway.
