DEBATING CAMP
10 students from Year 4 have attended the Northern
Sydney Debating camp at The Collaroy Centre with
Miss Butcher this week. Students were provided with a
rich learning environment full of opportunities to
enhance their debating and speaking skills.
Students have been involved in the Premier’s
Debating Challenge, tutorials in preparing a debate
and are learning how to write and deliver an
effective speech with the support of regional
adjudicators and tutors.
VOLUNTEERS
Many members of our school community volunteer
their support across all areas of our school. This term I
would like to thank the parents and friends who have
volunteered their time for activities including;
supporting in classroom programs, sharpening pencils,
covering books, working in the reading resource room
and planting in our gardens. Every helping hand
makes a huge difference, and enhances the
teaching and learning environment for all students
and teachers. Thank you!
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
With a multitude of learning experiences and exciting
community events, Term 3 has been a busy and
rewarding time for staff, students and families. The
holidays will commence after school tomorrow.
School will resume for staff and students on Monday,
14 October. I wish everyone a happy, healthy and
safe holiday.
Ms Kortekaas Relieving Principal
SCHOOL TOILETS
We continue to experience some incidents where
the school toilets are not being used appropriately.
Teachers will continue to remind their students to use
the school toilets with respect and consideration for
others and to keep this shared space clean and tidy.
We ask for your support at home to reinforce the
importance of personal hygiene for all students.
A reminder that there are numerous
library books outstanding and need to
be returned to the school library by
tomorrow. Thank you!

NNPS, in partnership with the Peninsula Community of
Schools (PCS), has teamed with the Centre for
Emotional Health at Macquarie University to develop
a student survey to measure emotional health. The
PCS Committee has collaborated with Professor Ron
Rapee to create a questionnaire that will determine
whether any students in our community are
struggling with issues relating to body image, anxiety,
social media usage and bullying.
In Week 3, Term 4, this survey will be implemented for
Years 4, 5 and 6 students, and all high school
students across the PCS. This is the first time that such
a comprehensive emotional health survey will take
place across a large group of schools in NSW. The
survey results will help our schools to better identify
real issues impacting on student wellbeing and
engagement. Whilst participation is voluntary, it is
highly encouraged. Parental consent is essential.
More detailed information will be sent home at the
beginning of next term.
TRAINING BAND WORKSHOP
Members of our Training Band participated in a
Workshop last Saturday in the school library. Our
lovely conductor Janella, organised a fun and
productive afternoon for the kids. They rehearsed in
three separate groups with individual tutors, enjoyed
pizza for afternoon tea and then came together at
the end of the day to perform a few pieces for their
parents.
We'd like to thank Ms Cantrill and Janella for their
time and all the kids that were able to attend and
enjoy a great afternoon together.
WARRIEWOOD WETLANDS WALK
Stage 2 had a wonderful experience visiting
Warriewood Wetlands.
Students have been learning about biomes and the
wetlands allowed them to observe a biome
landscape. Stage 2 teachers have been very
impressed with our budding scientists and
geographers. We searched for wildlife and plant
species while observing and photographing the
wetlands environment. Snaking along the
boardwalk, students identified features and
characteristics of the local flora and fauna.
Special thanks to our parent helpers who joined us.

Bee Well…
It’s been a busy week for our busy
bees at NNPS and quite a celebratory
mood this last week of term. Our school has
continued to support the new waste system on the
playground and pay careful attention to separating
recycling, compost and landfill. A big thank you to
4K, who have monitored the bins the last 2 weeks
and have done an excellent job in helping students
to place rubbish in the right bin. Last Thursday was a
big day for the canteen with their special food day.
The 4K monitors were under pressure keeping up with
the separating of waste, but did an extremely
thorough job in tidying up our playground. A special
mention to Lucy P, Isaac H, Greta M and Chelsea B
from 4K who put in a huge effort that day.

Bee Well……..Be creative
4T have been working non-stop throughout the year
on their art. They have filled the classroom with lots
of colour and paint. There has been paintings,
sketches, sculptures and even skateboard decks!
They had so much art they were running out of
room, so 4T decided to hold an art exhibition. Most
of 4T’s artworks were part of their homework projects
for the last three terms. The whole of Stage 2 and
4T’s buddy classes came to see the show. 4T had
funky music, a red carpet and a manager who
greeted everyone through the door to make the
exhibition really interesting. They hope to fill the
classroom with their amazing creations in Term 4 as
well as looking forward to getting their hands messy.
We hope to see you next term. Sam B & Harrison N
