STAFF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
One of our school strategic directions focuses on

P&C MEETING – SCHOOL UPDATE
The next P&C meeting will be on Wednesday, 26 June
at 7.30pm with all parents invited to attend.
The meeting will provide the opportunity to hear
progress updates from the P&C sub-committees
which includes plans for future events for the
community.
As part of the meeting, the school will also provide an
update on recent activities in professional learning,
student achievement and future directions.
Everyone is welcome, so please come along next
week.
YEAR 6 BATHURST EXCURSION
This week Year 6 students headed to Bathurst for their
two day excursion.
It was nice to welcome them back safely on
Wednesday afternoon after a couple of busy days of
travelling and learning.
Thank you to Miss Dickson, Mrs Clinton, Mrs Murphy
and Mr Sutherland for accompanying and taking
care of the children.
EVACUATION DRILL
It is mandatory in all NSW DoE schools for regular drills
to be held to practise responses to an emergency
evacuation.
On Friday, 21 June before recess we plan to conduct
an evacuation drill where children will understand the
process that will be followed in an emergency
situation.

PREMIER’S DEBATING CHALLENGE
This year the school offers debating as an extra-
curricular program to Stages Two and Three students
who display strong public speaking skills, extensive
general knowledge on various topics and an
aptitude for higher-order thinking.
This term, thirty eager students across Years 4, 5 and 6
were selected to attend a half-day debating
workshop to learn about manner and method and
delivery. Activities included demonstration debates,
tutorials on preparation and how to write and deliver
an effective speech. All students prepared and
presented their own ‘friendly’ debates.
Our Premier’s debating teams, North NARRAS and
Mighty Northies have had the opportunity to debate
a wide range of social issues with teams from a range
of nearby schools. At the completion of each
debate, students were given feedback from the
adjudicator to further refine their debating skills in
preparation for future experiences.
So far this year, our two Premier’s Debating teams
have celebrated four impressive wins and more
importantly, acquired skills in the area of debating
and working together as a team. We are excited to
see what the remainder of 2019 brings us!

SEMESTER 1 STUDENT REPORTS
Semester 1 reports will be sent to families
electronically at the end of this term. In order to
support this process, please ensure the school has
your current email address.
If you have changed your email address and not
notified the school, you can update it in two ways.
Competition. In Week 8 there will be no PSSA due to
the Sydney North Cross Country Carnival in Gosford.
Week 9 will be the last round of the PSSA Competition
this term, no PSSA in Week 10. We will then
recommence the competition in Weeks 1 Term 3.
MULTICULTURAL SPEAKING COMPETITION
Over the last few weeks all Stage 3 students have
showcased their public speaking in classrooms. Well
done to all those students who participated and
cuedos to those who entered the competitive section
of the Multicultural Speaking Competition.
Last week the Stage 3 final was held. Huge
congratulations to the 6 finalists who all gave
incredibly persuasive speeches that were most
engaging for the audience. The two students moving
forward to represent stage 3 at the regional finals are
Tiger Lily W from 5B and Jonah M from 6C. We wish
them every success.

BATHURST EXCURSION
Over the last two weeks the Stage 3 students have
attended a two-day excursion to Bathurst. This was
organized to complement our history studies of the
Australian colonies. All students are to be
congratulated for their outstanding behavior and
enthusiastic involvement in all activities. This was a
wonderful experience for all involved and was action
learning in the field. Many thanks to all the teachers
who left their own families and took care of our
students over the two long days and night.
PSSA WINTER COMPETITION
It was reported to me that there were some incidents
of poor behaviour at some PSSA games last Friday. A
reminder to all that it is a privilege to be chosen in a
team and to represent our school. When you are
wearing the NNPS uniform you are showing everyone
the type of students who attend our school and we
want to have students who display outstanding
sportsmanship at all time. Parents supporting our
teams at games are also expected to be role models
of sportsmanship and respectful in their words and
actions.
Remember when selected, students signed our
school’s sporting code of conduct. Rules and
expectations have also been developed by the NSW
Primary Schools’ Sport Association (PSSA) for the
guidance of students and parents whose children
participate in competitive sport under the auspices of
the school.
They are provided for your information.
PLAYERS’ CODE:
Play by the rules.

will you.
Be a good sport. Applaud all good play
whether they are made by your team or the
opposition.
Treat all participants in your sport as you like to
be treated. Do not bully or take unfair
advantage of competitor.

Students in Years 3-6 are invited to enter the 2019 International Competitions in Science, Spelling, Writing,
Mathematics, English and Computer Skills.
Year 2 students are invited to enter in Science, Spelling, English and Mathematics competitions.
The exams are online this year. They will take place in the computer room, students will need to bring
headphones and a pencil with them.
Years 3 & 4 students will complete the writing test in a written format.
These examinations incur an entry fee and are not run by the Department of Education but by EAA - Education
Assessment Australia, an independent organisation owned by the University of NSW. Your child will compete

opportunity for students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation.

Certificates are awarded as follows:
