This year Kindergarten—Year 4 bookings for interviews will be made online. The note will contain the code required to access the booking system. Parents will have access from Monday afternoon until Friday, 1 April at 4pm. This system will make the process more efficient for parents and teachers. If parents don’t have access to an internet connection the class teacher or office can assist. For students in Kindergarten – Year 4, interviews will be 10 minutes each and will be held on either Monday, 4 April or Tuesday, 5 April. Please see below the allocated day for your child’s class. Monday, 4 April – KW, KR, 1B, 1H, 2SG, 2C, 3F, 3M, 3B and 4M Tuesday, 5 April – KA, KC, KF, 1K, 1C, 1/2M, 2H, 3/4G, 4E and 4S Children in Years 5 and 6 will participate in student-led conferences on either Monday, 4 April or Tuesday, 5 April. Further details will be sent home next Monday. PCS Extension Test – Year 6 Students The PCS Extension Test for Year 6 students who have applied, will be held at Narrabeen Sports High School on Friday, 18 March starting at 9.15am. The test will conclude at 11.00am. Parents can collect the students from the high school or a representative from Narrabeen North will meet the students and walk them back to school. Working Bee It was a real team effort for our first working bee for 2016 and many hands made a big difference to our school grounds and gardens. Armed with rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, gloves and more, our band of mums, dads, kids and family members did an outstanding job in transforming parts of our school. The garden bed outside KA and KW and the adjoining garden bed were edged and mulched. The garden path to the main playground was cleared of old foliage, a trailer full was collected! New mulch was laid to freshen up the gardens. The native area at the front of the school was also attended to with the pathway cleared, plastic to combat the weeds laid and fresh mulch put down to make it more accessible for the children. The children really enjoy walking through the natural bush and this area will continue to be improved. A team of workers spent the day relaying pavers under the shade cloth near the Year 6 classrooms. This took plenty of time as they did a very professional job making the area flat and fully paved. Considerable time was also spent cleaning the external and internal areas of the before and after school care dome. Many of our students use this space and it was given a good spring clean and tidy up. Regional Swimming Congratulations to our school representatives who attended the Sydney North Swimming carnival at Homebush yesterday. A big congratulations to Mitch Morris, Jackson Love and the senior boys relay team on reaching the State carnival. An outstanding achievement! Ryan Shepheard PRINCIPAL

with a constant supply of drinks. Our P&C President, Duncan Smith, fired up the BBQ to ensure we had sausage sandwiches at the end.

Thank you to all our wonderful helpers who gave generously of their time to volunteer on the day. I’m continually amazed at the great support the school receives from the community!

A very big thank you to David Finch, our enthusiastic parent, who led the working bee and ensured everything was in order to get the most done on the day. He was even here on Monday putting some finishing touches to a few jobs.

Miss Russell’s Wrap Up… COLOUR & SHAVE What a fantastic day we had today. Thank goodness the weather held out for us to hold the event. A big thank you goes out to the Holliday family for their support with this event. Our students loved having their

hair coloured and even our brave students who had their head shaved, loved being involved. This event would not be so successful with out the generous donations made by all our families and community. Thank you to all. Mr Holliday and some students representing our school will present the Westmead Oncology Unit with a cheque later this month. YEAR 6 HIGH SCHOOL APPLICATION FORMS All high school application forms are due to Miss Russell. If you have not returned your completed forms please do so by close of business Friday, 18 March. This also includes students not attending a government high school. EASTER HAT PARADE Our annual Easter Hat parade will be on Thursday, 24 March at 2pm in the amphitheatre.

PSSA Winter Sport

Over the next few weeks, lunch time and morning trials will be held for the winter PSSA Season which begins in Week 2 of Term 2. Students will need to consider which sport they would like to trial for and are asked to listen to assembly messages and make sure they attend trial sessions.

The winter sports are:

1 Junior and 1 Senior rugby league team for boys

1 Junior and 1 Senior soccer team for boys

3 Junior and 3 Senior netball teams for girls

1 Junior and 1 Senior soccer team for girls

1 Senior mixed AFL Team

1 Junior mixed AFL team

For rugby league we will be holding extensive trials. To be considered for a PSSA team in this sport students should firstly attend the trials for our Legends of League teams. Two senior boys and two junior boys teams will be initially chosen. They will take part in a Legends of League competition to be held later in the year. From the Legends of Leagues teams a senior and junior PSSA team will be selected with hopefully the assistance of NRL officers.

Sport Update

Yesterday it was an honour to be team manager for the Pittwater Zone Swim Team at the Sydney North Swimming Carnival.

Narrabeen North was well represented in the team with Emily R, Makayli B, Mitch M, Jake M, Will P all competing in individual events.

It was an amazing swim team with every swimmer, from every school, giving their all and many swimmers achieving personal best times.

There were numerous standout performances on the day and I was ever so proud of every one of our swimmers from each of our Pittwater schools. Many of our students reached finals including the Narrabeen North Senior Girls Relay team (Ruby W, Jasmine B, Mikayli B, and Emily R) and the Senior Boys Relay Team (Julius K, Caleb G, Mitch M, Jake M).

We are also thrilled to have a number of NNPS students moving on to represent Sydney North at the NSW State Carnival to be held at Sydney Aquatic Centre later in the term.

Congratulations to our Sydney North representatives:

The Senior Boys Relay Team

Mitch M: 100M freestyle Senior Medley Jackson L: Junior multiclass 50m freestyle Junior multiclass 50m backstroke We wish you all well and hope you enjoy the moment and magic of swimming again in the Olympic pool. Go NARRA NORTH super-fish!

Thank you to all the wonderful NNPS parents for their support and assistance on the day.

EASTER HAT EASTER HAT EASTER HAT PARADEPARADEPARADE

It is that time of year again when the Easter Hat Parade is coming to NNPS.

This year it will be held at 2.00pm on Thursday, 24 March (Day before Good Friday).

All students are asked to create their hats at home and we encourage that our students make the hats them-selves. Students are asked to bring in their hat on this day so that they can parade around in their EGGciting hats at our assembly. Start making those EGGcellent hats for a chance to win some awesome prizes!

A note will be going home soon with more information about our EGGtravaganza.

BAND CAKE STALL Thursday, 24 March, 2016

The music program will be having their cake stall next

Thursday, 24 March from

3pm-4pm after the Easter hat parade.

Both the senior and training bands will be performing and Miss Russell will be creating one

of her amazing cakes to raffle off.

As a change we will also have a lolls jar for a guessing competition for the kids.

Donations of cakes and sweets to sell would be greatly appreciated from all families in the school not just the music program families. Please keep

in mind ‘no nuts’ when baking.

If anyone is able to help sell raffle tickets before

school or help with selling the cakes/sweet treats after school could you please contact

Bianca Barnwell on 0434 935 239.
