A light of revelation to the Gentiles,

Stewardship Corner ~
Now, Master, you may let your servant go
in peace, according to your word,
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and glory for your people Israel. Lk 2:29-32
In the Gospel this week, Simeon rejoices in the Christ Child, and takes Him into his arms.
Anna, a prophetess, also rejoices in the Lord at this time in the temple. As stewards, we too
are called to embrace the Lord as our Saviour. What does this mean exactly? This means
that we acknowledge and accept Him as both God and man, and therefore follow His exam-
ple, striving always to be like Him.
For some, it might be difficult to accept this Saviour and His salvation because we find our-
selves not worthy of such a gift. Even in our times of weakness, God encourages us to ac-
cept this gift of salvation because He understands our fears, our anxieties, and our limits.
When we trust in Him and truly embrace Him as our Saviour, He is our guide in living life as
good stewards. Simeon calls Jesus “a light for revelation to the Gentiles,” let Him be your
light too - always in your heart and at the center of your life.
Peace,

Archdiocesan News:
In a letter to the Archdiocese regarding
Catholic Charities, Archbishop Chaput stated:
“The theme for the 2013 Catholic Charities Appeal was
„Charity Transforming Reality.‟ Your support for last
year‟s Appeal did just that. You made more than 71,000
gifts and helped the Appeal surpass its $10,000,000 goal.
Because of your generous hearts, the lives of thousands of
our neighbors and friends were changed for the better.”
“For this and all you do, I offer my constant gratitude. May
God bless you and those you love.”
