As stewards, we are to be responsible with the gifts God has given us- we are to give those gifts back to Him in multiplicity. How can we do this?
As humans, we are easily entertained, sidetracked, and overtaken by things that are not from God. These are the birds and the thorns referred to today in the Gospel. When we succumb to the worldly pleasures culture provides to us, the seeds He sows in us by His Word cannot thrive. Our ability to refrain from these worldly pleasures and to enrich ourselves in Him even when we feel adequately faithful or religious allows His Word to grow within us and produce fruit. We must take the time to continually make ourselves rich in spirit in order that we provide the good soil for His Word to grow. Faith is a lifelong journey, and without this continual striving, His Word can wind up squandered in our complacency. In living out His call to us and by our great example to the world through our own words and actions, God’s Kingdom will grow. Enrich yourself in His Word and be the steward God calls you to be by acting it out.
Peace,
Kaitlyn Wiant
