Great students
In the first week of Term 2 we commemorated ANZAC day. The official ceremonies were conducted on 25 April but as this date fell in the holidays we had ours in May. Mr Roy Pearson OAM was able to join us and talk to the children about how we should all try
very hard to avoid conflict because he remembers the horrors of war. He reminded students that peaceful behaviour starts in the playground. Great message!
The first Sunday in May was Mothers’ Day and the P&C again did an amazing job of providing presents for the children to purchase. The kids love going shopping for their mums. I hope all mums felt spoilt. We have been doing cricket for sport this term and its great to see students learning the skills of the game. Even the rain couldn’t dampen their spirits. There are some great action shots on p8&9.
Luckily we had beautiful weather for our ‘Walk Safely to School’ day. Fabulous to see children using their legs to get to school given that so many live close by.
Jellybeans have been exploring the outdoors this month using magnifying glasses. They wore their lab coats like good scientists, collected empty insect shells and looked at just about anything they
could find. Curiosity in action on p11.
Teachers have begun testing for Mid Year reports and as usual there are lots of great surprises. This is a time when teachers come to my office excited about student progress and of course this is
when I get excited about our teachers. I commend everyone on their efforts this year and now the results speak for themelves. We look forward to talking to parents at interviews in the final weeks of term. We will be in touch. Arncliffe West is starting to take enrolments for Kindergarten 2019. If you are intending to send your child to school next year please get in early as places are limited. Information on p13
A reminder that next weekend is a long weekend to celebrate the Queen’s birthday so there will be no school on Monday 11.06.18.
