It’s so wonderful to see parents and carers helping out in the classroom. Mila and Baxter’s mum, Abbie, is helping with reading, and Oakley’s mum, Lily, is sharing her arsic experse with the class. Here’s Maverick and Soren’s mum, Marilyn, delivering a really great lesson about lobster producon to students in Years 5 & 6 as part of their science studies. If you have some spare me, we’d love to see you at the school (and your kids would love it, too!) THE GREAT DEBATE Last Wednesday, the final debate for Year 5 students took place. In his adjudicaon, Mr Andy Mitchell (Head of English at Murwillumbah High School and also Zavier’s dad) commented very favourably on the high standard displayed by all the debaters, and added that he was parcularly impressed by the empathy shown by all students towards their debang teammates. I was also very proud of the debaters, who certainly achieved the learning intenon of debang like professionals! The topic of the debate was that ‘Uki Public School should get a flying fox for the playground’. The affirmave team comprised Lila, Frankie, Isiaha and Sierra. Debang on the negave team were Jaci, Ben and Toby. By a narrow margin, the affirmave team won the debate. It must have been very difficult to decide, as both teams were very impressive. Well done to everyone! MURWILLUMBAH HIGH SCHOOL ARTS WEEK Congratulaons We’re looking forward to aending the manee performance of the Arts Week at Murwillumbah High School on Friday. This is an opportunity for our students to see what’s on offer at the high school, and to acknowledge the accomplishments of students, including some ex-Uki students. It’s also an important part of our transion program to high school, where our students can start to plan a learning pathway into high school and beyond. Notes for the excursion were handed out last week and are expected back now.
