Dear Potential Sponsor,

our local Military Service Heroes and the surrounding patriotic community. USVMC-OH

“We gather to honor, remember and respect those who pay the price for OUR FREEDOM, but also, to CELEBRATE that freedom.”
VetFest Ohio is a multiple day event dedicated to supporting the on-going efforts of patriotic community
building. We have identified three great Veteran non-profit organizations to be this year’s beneficiaries.
They have been instrumental in providing hope and a vision for an improved quality of life for our
Military Service Men and Women.
Started in 1990, this organization is best known for its network of comfort
homes where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost, while a
loved one is receiving treatment. The homes are at major military and VA
medical centers nationwide, close to the medical center or hospital they
serve. The foundation has served over 220,000 families since it started, and
can accommodate a total of 832 families a day nationwide.
Fisher House Foundation is best known for a network of comfort homes
where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is
receiving treatment. These homes are located at major military and VA
medical centers nationwide, close to the medical center or hospital they
serve. Specifically, this year the donations will go to fund the finalizing
of the Dayton VA Fisher house that is plans a groundbreaking ceremony
on 1 May 2017. This 15-month construction project valued at $6.5
million dollars will add 5,849 “bed nights” annually ensuring no Veteran
has surgery alone again at the Dayton VA. https://www.fisherhouse.org/
2017 VETFEST OHIO BENEFICIARIES
Primary Beneficiary
Blue Skies for the Good Guys and Gals Warrior Foundation’s mission is to
Honor our Nation’s Veteran, Wounded Warriors and the families of Fallen
Heroes by providing enriching, life changing experiences that facilitate new
friendships and emotional healing. How do they do it? At the core of BS3G
is Team Fastrax™ Professional Parachute Demonstration Team, composed of
many veterans. The team focuses on adventurous activities as the back drop
to facilitate the enriching, healing environment for our Purple Heart Warriors
and Gold Star families. The deep bonding that forms between the warriors
and volunteers is priceless and the experiences are non-denominational faith
centered. http://warriorwtr.com/
Save A Warrior believes in challenging conventional thinking. The way
we challenge the idea of suicide is so novel and so inspiring, it connects the
lives of all who are transformed from sharing in this experience. Since
2012, those who complete Save A Warrior exclaim how our "unique
approach to ordinary"... saved their life. We are grateful for your generosity
which made the difference; perhaps a lifesaving difference. Save A
Warrior is an original, Warrior-led, well-grounded and timeless journey for
active duty military, returning veterans and first responders who feel
desperately alone. Give them a week and you will change the way you see -
and live - your life. https://saveawarrior.org/

Fairborn resident and 97-year-old
local WWII hero, Rolla Edward
(“Ed”) Malan, served as a Navy
Machinist Mate Second Class on
the USS Preble from 1939-1945.
Malan was asleep when the sounds
of bombs and gunfire jerked him
awake on the morning of Dec. 7,
1941. Malan and other sailors in his
barracks watched in confusion as
hundreds of Japanese war planes
attacked the base. Hear first-hand
