RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS This Tuesday begins our final week of class. We will end the year with an assembly in the gym and 30 minutes before the scheduled time ends, we will give out Progress reports to parents. Please make sure to re-register your child for next year. First Communions are: Saturday, May 5th and 12th at 10AM and 12PM. Confirmation is Saturday, May 19th, at 10AM. Please go to the office for more information. Please continue praying for our students. We all need to pray for each other.

PARISH PICNIC Our annual parish picnic will take place in two weeks on Sunday, June 10th, at Bowline Park. Tickets are available at $5 for individuals and $15 for a family of four. The ticket price covers hamburgers, hot dogs, soda, coffee, games for children and a fun time of visiting with old friends and meeting new friends. Please bring dessert to share at the picnic.

PASTORAL COUNCIL Our parish Pastoral Council is planning to add new members to the Council to begin after the summer in September. The Pastoral Council works for the ongoing development of the ministries in our parish. New members will join with our current council when it meets for its’ annual year-end review and planning for the future. Service on the council includes a monthly meeting from September through June and a few hours of committee work between the regular meetings each month. If you would like to serve on the Council, please speak with Fr. Madden.

CONCILIO PARROQUIAL Nuestro Concilio Pastoral está planeando agregar nuevos miembros para después del verano, en el mes de septiembre. El Concilio Pastoral trabaja por el continuo desarrollo de los ministerios de la parroquia. Los nuevos miembros se reunirán con los miembros actuales cuando el concilio se reúna en su reunión evaluativa y de planeamiento de sus acciones futuras. Los servicios en el concilio incluyen una reunión mensual, entre septiembre y junio y varias horas de trabajo de los comités entre una y otra reunión mensual. May 19, 2018 Dear Friends in the Lord: It’s time again for our annual special collection for the Church in Latin America. Although the people are faith-filled, the needs in this region of the world are great-and often seem insurmountable. The distance between rural areas and deteriorated roads make it difficult for some communities to have Mass celebrated regularly. Language barriers and lack of resources make catechetical materials difficult to produce. We are called to share our faith with all, and today’s special collection is a prophetic and bold way to do so. For example, in Cuba, in the Archdiocese of San Cristobal de la Habana, the Church is not present in many of the smaller or rural communities. For many years, there were no priests or missionaries and there was no mission house- not to mention a church building-to which the people could turn. The message of the Gospel could not spread because there were very few messengers to share it and few places where people could go to hear it. But, with your support, pastoral agents have received training to bring the Gospel to these areas and neighborhoods. Your support has help bring people to the Church through religious education and retreats and has brought the Church to the people through evangelization efforts and the repair of church buildings. This has given them the hope and the joy of the Gospel. Please be as generous as you can to this special collection and take this opportunity to share your faith with many families in Latin America and the Caribbean. Your support truly makes a difference. CEMETERY MASS On Monday, May 28th, at 11:30AM we will offer Mass in our cemetery for all those who are buried there. Our cemetery is a reminder of God’s invitation to all of us to rest in peace with the saints in heaven. We join in prayer to ask God to deepen our faith in the divine gift of eternal life and to share that life forever with our beloved deceased. FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION

This Saturday 78 teenagers received the Sacrament of Confirmation. On the previous two Saturdays 107 boys and girls received their First Communion. These are wonderful moments for our young parishioners as they grow as disciples of Christ. We pray for them to continue to grow in the life and love of Christ and that they share in the life and work of the Gospel with joy and with dedication.

Aunque las comunidades están llenas de fe, las necesidades en esta región del mundo son grades, y a menudo parecen insuperables. La distancia entre las áreas rurales y los caminos deteriorados crea muchas dificultades para las comunidades para celebrar las Misas regularmente. Las barreras del idioma y la falta de recursos hacen que los materiales catequéticos sean difíciles de producir. Estamos llamados a compartir nuestra fe con todos, y la colecta especial de hoy es una manera profética y audaz de hacerlo. MISA EN EL CEMENTERIO El lunes, 28 de mayo, a las 11:30AM ofreceremos la Misa en nuestro cementerio por todos los que son enterrados allí. Nuestro cementerio nos recuerda de la invitación de Dios a nosotros a descansar con todos los santos en el cielo. Nos unimos en la oración a pedir que Dios profundice nuestra fe en el don divino de la vida eterna y a compartir esta vida con nuestros queridos difuntos para siempre.

PRIMERA COMUNION Y CONFIRMACION Este sábado, 78 jóvenes recibieron el Sacramento de Confirmación. Los últimos dos sábados 107 niños y niñas recibieron la Primera Comunión. Estos son momentos maravillosos para nuestros jóvenes feligreses mientras ellos crecen como discípulos de Cristo.
