FROM FATHER MINIATT

Dear Friends in Christ,

We have crossed the halfway mark of October, and November will be here before we know it. Let’s not

forget to pray for our farmers as they continue working to bring in the harvest. I have been hearing that it has been

a good year, so praise God for that!

I want to share some highlights of upcoming things on our parishes’ schedules so that we can put them on

our personal calendars. Here goes!

November 1st, All Saints’ Day, is not a holy day of obligation in the USA this year since it falls on a Monday.

That said, it remains an important feast, and we will have a 7pm Mass at St. John in Byron on 11/1/21. This will be

an English Mass; I believe with incense and some Latin music.

November 2nd is All Souls’ Day, and while never a holy day of obligation in the USA, nevertheless, it is also

an important day to pray for our beloved departed. By special permission, all priests are allowed to offer 3 Masses

on All Souls’ Day: one for the priest’s intention/an intention someone requests, one for the intentions of the Holy

Father, and one for all the dead. I will offer three Masses: 7am (English) at St. John, 5:30pm (English) at St. Mary,

and 7pm (Latin High Mass) at St. Mary.

Someone generously has offered to sponsor up to :ive pairs of women to attend the annual Women of Christ

conference at the fairgrounds in West Bend. The date is November 6th, and other details are found elsewhere in the

bulletin. The idea behind giving the sponsorship in pairs is to encourage women to invite a family member or friend

along. :) If you are interested in being sponsored, please contact our parish of:ice. Many thanks to our anonymous

donor!

On November 6th we have the annual Chili Supper in St. John Hall (signup sheets to help are/will be in the

back of the churches). Pleasenotethat the Mass schedule that weekend will change as follows: 4pm Mass Novem-

ber 6th at St.John and 9:45am Mass November 7th at St.Mary. The other two Sunday Masses remain as/where they

are usually scheduled.

On November 10th at 6pm (location TBD, stay tuned!), there will be a parish “Town Hall Meeting” regarding

our particular allocations for the upcoming Love One Another archdiocesan capital campaign (60% of what we

raise stays in our parishes). Right now, the plan is that this meeting will be for SOZ members, and St. Mary

members will have their own meeting on a different date. That might change, so everyone please stay tuned. :)

On November 13th, we will carry on our tradition of inviting family members/friends of those who have lost

loved ones over the past year to light a candle for the deceased right before the 4pm Mass begins. In addition, on

November 13th, the St. Mary Fall Cash Raf:le will be drawn after the 4pm Mass.

December 8th, the Immaculate Conception, is a holy day of obligation! :) We will have 3 Masses (all 3 in

English): the usual 7am at St. James, 12pm at St. Mary (this will be simple, our normal daily Mass style), and 7pm at

St. Mary (hopefully with incense and some Latin music… we’ll see!). :)

December 16th, there will be 12 Hours of Reconciliation hosted at Holy Family in Fond du Lac. 8am to 8pm

is the time. This will be a wonderful opportunity for individual (Rite I) reconciliation in our area before Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, it falls on a Saturday this year, and our Worship Committee worked out a special

schedule for that weekend. Christmas Eve, December 24th, there will be 4pm Mass at St. Mary (English, and

probably no incense), 8:45pm Latin High Mass at St. Mary (de:initely with incense! :)), and 10:30pm Mass (English)

at St. John (expect incense and let’s do it by candlelight again, like we did last year!!! :)). Christmas Day, December

25th, there will be 9am Mass (English) at St. James, and 11am Latin High Mass at St. Mary. Therewillbeno4pm

Massthatevening. On Sunday, December 26th, we will have the usual schedule of times and locations (8am at St.

James, 9:45am at St. John, and 11:30am High Mass at St. Mary).

After all of that, we circle back to the present and the liturgical schedule for the week: Monday, October

18th, 5:30pm Mass at St. John. Tuesday, 5:15pm Mass at St. John. Wednesday, 7am Mass at St. James, followed by

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until Benediction at 9am. Thursday, 7am Mass at St. John. Friday, 8:30am Mass

at St. Mary. Friday evening, there will be 4:30pm to 5:30pm Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at St. John, with

Evening Prayer and Benediction at 5:30pm.

 Have a wonderful, blessed week!

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Miniatt

SACRAMENTAL PRAYER PARTNER

This year we want to try something new and involve

our students more. We’d love for every student

receiving a sacrament to have a prayer partner who

would be praying for them!

How does this work?

By finding adult parishioners who are willing to

“adopt” a confirmation or first communion student.

They would pray for them. That’s it. Participants

may want to send birthday and holiday cards, but

that’s just a bonus. (PLEASE, NO GIFTS!)

Information about the students and general infor-

mation will be shared with the prayer partner. The

student will know that you are praying for them

throughout the year.

While this is a simple thing, it will be an important

part of our sacramental ministry, as you ask the

Holy Spirit to guide the education of this young

person. Your faithfulness to this calling is important.

It’s not important that you know your student, but

we hope that you will look for them in worship, and

introduce yourself if you are provided that oppor-

tunity. They may not know you, but they w’ill know

your name, and that you have agreed to partner

with them in this part of their faith journey.
