pus Christi Church!

We are now in the fourth Sun-

day of Advent, the last one before

Christmas. The readings today empha-

size on the fact that God uses lowly

things or places and humble people to

carry out his plans. In the first reading,

the prophet Micah exults a small town,

Bethlehem, “too small to be among the

clans of Judah, from you shall come

forth for me one who is to be ruler in

Israel” (Mi. 5:1).

In the gospel, we can see again the exultation

of humility and lowliness. We have two lowly women,

Mary and Elizabeth. On one hand, Mary is young and

is from an insignificant town, Nazareth. On the other,

Elizabeth was barren and in a shameful situation.

God appears to do great things in humble peo-

ple, not in people of great soaring pride. As our imme-

diate preparation for Christmas, let us practice and live

the virtue of humility by asking and giving for-

giveness. That, for us, would be the best exchange of

Christmas gifts.

¡Que Dios bendiga y proteja a la gente de la Igle-

sia de Corpus Christi!

Estamos ahora en el cuarto domin-

go de Adviento, el último antes de Navidad.

Las lecturas de hoy enfatizan el hecho de

que Dios usa cosas o lugares insignificantes

y personas humildes para llevar a cabo sus

planes. En la primera lectura, el profeta

Miqueas se regocija en un pueblo pequeño,

Belén, “pequeña entre las aldeas de Judá, de

ti saldrá el jefe de Israel” (Mi. 5: 1).

En el evangelio, podemos ver nue-

vamente la exaltación de la pequeñez y la humildad.

Tenemos dos mujeres humildes, María e Isabel. Por un

lado, María es joven y es de un pueblo insignificante,

Nazaret. Por otro lado, Elizabeth era estéril y se encontra-

ba en una situación vergonzosa.

Dios parece hacer grandes cosas en las personas

humildes, no en las personas de gran orgullo. Como

preparación inmediata para la Navidad, practiquemos y

vivamos la virtud de la humildad pidiendo y dando

perdón. Ese, para nosotros, sería el mejor intercambio de

regalos de navideños.

HOLY HOUR with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacra-

ment and Benediction is done every Friday right after the

8 am mass.

ANNUAL VOTIVE CANDLES Lighting candles is an honored tradition here at Corpus Christi and is really a much welcomed form of prayer. A donation of $100 will ensure that a Votive Candle will burn daily in Corpus Christi Church for 52 week to memorialize your intention. ADVENT GIVING TREE. Our Parish is collecting

Christmas gifts for our kids. Those who would like to

participate should get one ornament from the Advent-

giving tree at the entrance of the church. We are ac-

cepting gifts until December 19 and the gifts will be

distributed on December 21. The parents or guardians

who would like to enlist their kids should see Mr. Fer-

nando Torres at the Food Pantry on Wednesdays.

THE WORD AMONG US—DAILY MEDITATIONS

FOR ADVENT. As our custom, we are giving out The

Word Us to help parishioners live the spirit of Advent

and prepare for the celebration of Christmas.

NOVENA OF MASSES (SIMBANG-GABI) IN PREP-

ARATION FOR CHRISTMAS. The Filipino commu-

nity invites everyone to a novena of Masses in prepara-

tion for Christmas from December 15 to 23. The mass

will be in our church, at 7:00pm.

REPAIRS OF CHURCH PEWS. The proceeds of the

extra donations to the Annual Catholic Appeal 2021

will be used for the repairs of the church pews and

kneelers. As we thank everyone for their very gener-

ous cooperation in the ACA, we also encourage more

donations for the project of repairing our pews and

kneelers.

WORKBOOK FOR LECTORS. Lectors who would

like to have one can approach the sacristan or priests

after the mass to claim their copy of the book.

THANK YOU. We thank all our volunteers, all who

offered to the collections this Sunday (thru the baskets

or online giving) and all who donated to the Annual

Catholic Appeal this week. As you know, we are truly

grateful and pray to God who cannot be outdone in

generosity to reward and bless you always.

EL ÁRBOL DE REGALO DE ADVIENTO. Nuestra par-

roquia está recolectando regalos de Navidad para nuestros

niños. Aquellos que quieran participar deben escoger un

adorno del árbol de regalos de Adviento en la entrada de la

iglesia. Aceptamos regalos hasta el 19 de diciembre y los rega-

los se distribuirán el 21 de diciembre. Los padres o tutores

que deseen enistar a sus hijos deben ver al Sr. Fernando

REPARACIONES DE BANCOS DE LA IGLESIA. Las

donaciones adicionales a la Campaña Católica Anual 2021 se

utilizarán para las reparaciones de los bancos y reclinatorios

de la iglesia. Como agradecemos a todos por su generosa

cooperación en la ACA, también alentamos más donaciones

para el proyecto de reparación de nuestras bancas y reclinato-

rios.

NOVENA DE MISAS EN PREPARACION PARA LA

NAVIDAD. La comunidad hispana invita a todos a una no-

vena de misas en preparación para la Navidad del 15 al 23 de

diciembre. La misa será en el sotano de la rectoria (entrada en

la 61 calle), a las 7:30 pm.

LIBRO PARA LECTORES. Los lectores que deseen tener

uno pueden acercarse al sacristán o los sacerdotes después de

la misa para reclamar su copia del libro.

AGRADECIMIENTOS. Agradecemos a todos nuestros vo-

luntarios, a todos que ofrecieron a las colectas este domingo

(por las canastas o en línea) y a todos los que donaron a la
