Order of Service

Please STAND when a bell is rung. All sing The Hymn:

Life-imparting heavenly Manna, stricken Rock with streaming side, heaven and earth with loud hosanna worship thee, the Lamb who died, Alleluia! risen, ascended, glorified.

As the Blessed Sacrament is placed in upon the Altar in a Monstrance, a bell will sound. Please KNEEL.

Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour, first-begotten from the dead, thou alone, our strong defender, liftest up thy people’s head. Alleluia! Jesu, true and living bread.

Here our humblest homage pay we; here in loving reverence bow; here for faith’s discernment pray we, lest we fail to know thee now. Alleluia! Thou art here, we ask not how.

Though the lowliest form doth veil thee as of old in Bethlehem, here as there thine angels hail thee, Branch and Flower of Jesse’s stem. Alleluia! We in worship join with them.

Paschal Lamb, thine offering, finished once for all when thou wast slain, in its fullness undiminished shall for evermore remain, Alleluia! cleansing souls from every stain.

As incense is offered again, all sing Tantum Ergo:

The minister sings:

Let us pray.

O God, who in a wonderful Sacrament hast left unto us a memorial of thy Passion: Grant us, we beseech thee, so to venerate the sacred mysteries of thy Body and Blood, that we may ever perceive within ourselves the fruits of thy redemption; who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.

Therefore we, before him bending, This great sacrament revere: Types and shadows have their ending, For the newer rite is here; Faith, our outward sense befriending, Makes the inward vision clear.

Glory let us give and blessing To the Father and the Son, Honour, might and praise addressing, While eternal ages run; Ever to his love confessing, Who, from both, with both is one. Amen.

As incense is offered all sing O Salutaris:

Kneeling in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, all sing The Hymn:

Soul of my Saviour, sanctify my breast, body of Christ, be thou my saving guest, blood of my Saviour, bathe me in thy tide, wash me with water flowing from thy side.

Strength and protection may thy passion be, O blessèd Jesu, hear and answer me; deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me, so shall I never, never part from thee.

Guard and defend me from the foe malign, in death’s dread moments make me only thine; call me and bid me come to thee on high where I may praise thee with thy saints for aye.

A time of quiet Prayer and Adoration is kept.

O saving Victim, opening wide the gate of heaven to man below; our foes press hard on every side, thine aid supply, thy strength bestow.

All praise and thanks to thee ascend for evermore, blest One in Three; O grant us life that shall not end, in our true native land with thee. Amen

All sing These Hymns:

Sweet sacrament divine, hid in thine earthly home, lo, round thy lowly shrine, with suppliant hearts we come; Jesu, to thee our voice we raise in songs of love and heartfelt praise: sweet sacrament divine.

Sweet sacrament of peace, dear home for every heart, where restless yearnings cease and sorrows all depart; there in thine ear all trustfully we tell our tale of misery: sweet sacrament of peace.

Sweet sacrament of rest, ark from the oceans’ roar, within thy shelter blest soon may we reach the shore; save us, for still the tempest raves, save, lest we sink beneath the waves: sweet sacrament of rest.

Sweet sacrament divine, earth’s light and jubilee, in thy far depths doth shine the Godhead’s majesty; sweet light, so shine on us, we pray that earthly joys may fade away: sweet sacrament divine.

Be still, for the Presence of the Lord, the Holy One, is here. Come, bow before him now, with reverence and fear. In him no sin is found, we stand on holy ground. Be still, for the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy One, is here.

Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around; he burns with holy fire, with splendour he is crowned. How awesome is the sight, our radiant King of light! Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.

Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place, he comes to cleanse and heal, to minister his grace. No work too hard for him, in faith receive from him; be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.
