Leading contributors to the church were Captain Miflin Kenedy, who donated land, money, and pews. Mrs. Kenedy, who donated the sanctuary windows, and the wife of then Corpus Christi Mayor J. B. Murphy, gave the statues. The ladies of the Altar Society gave the main altar. Various parishioners, in memory of their deceased family members, donated the other stained glass windows. As the Diocese grew, a new cathedral was planned and was dedicated in 1940. St. Patrick’s continued to have daily Mass for the children of Incarnate Word Academy then located nearby. In 1951, after it caught fire, the church was dismantled and the sanctuary and main part of the nave were moved to the present location to serve the newly created “Our Lady Star of the Sea” parish. The altar, statues and stained glass windows were saved and reinstalled in the little church. Thus a portion of the old St. Patrick’s Cathedral remains standing, a memorial to the pioneers of Corpus Christi. Over the years, the parish has grown to include families from all parts of Corpus Christi, Portland, Gregory, Taft, Aransas Pass and Ingleside who seek a small “country church” atmosphere of worship and fellowship. In today’s Gospel we listen to some of the last words Jesus spoke on the night before his death, but they are words that
prepared his disciples for his physical departure from them forty days after his resurrection. Jesus speaks of coming
back with his Father so that they can make their home in the disciples who love them. Our notion of the Triune God is
one who is prepared to come and live within each of us. But God waits patiently to be invited into our hearts; our inner
space. God is neither demanding nor intrusive. How do we make our hearts the home where Jesus, the Father, and the
Holy Spirit dwell? How do we welcome this sacred presence? Retrieved from: catholicstewar dship.com
Lord, we ask You to bless all who are sick. Give them strength in body, courage in spirit, and
patience in pain. Let them recover their health that they may joyfully praise your name. Amen
We Are Glad You Joined Us This Weekend This is the Sixth Sunday of Easter. Jesus says in today’s gospel, “Whoever loves me will keep my word.” The word of Jesus
we are to keep is his command to love as he loves - not simply in words, but as love-in-action. Our love-in-action flows from
the gift of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us and teaching us. “Believing” is an action, a response to the Holy Spirit’s promptings to
be concerned about what really matters -- reconciliation, issues of justice and peace in the world, a concern for the poor, a
respect for creation as a gift from God and a common home -- a focus on a new world where “the presence and glory of God is
everywhere.”
The Readings:
Acts 15: 1-29 The early Church experiences “no little dissension and debate” and plenty of disturbance of their “peace of mind.” To resolve a serious division, the community consensus is not to impose anything that gets in the way of the spirit – that gets in the way of the freedom and joy of the people of God in Antioch or anywhere else.
Revelation 21:10-14, 22-23 In the heavenly Jerusalem envisioned, things are so simple and direct that there is no need for a temple – “the presence and glory of God is everywhere.” As Jesus in the gospel makes clear: the spirit comes and the gift is peace.
John 14: 23-29 Jesus has entrusted his vision, his words, into the hear ts of humans. The Spirit is our guide, will teach everything and bring peace.

Congratulations to Noah, Justin, Julian, and their families.
You have received a very special gift from God and He looks to you to live this special relationship by praying, attending
Mass, receiving Holy Communion, reading the Bible and putting God first in your life.
A very special thank you to Adriana Trevino for her time and dedication in preparing the children to receive the Sacrament, and especially for her guidance in helping them grow in their Catholic faith.
