    Creative Rural Communities

    Creative Rural Communities (CRC) is a regeneration and economic development initiative led by the Vale ofGlamorgan Council in partnership with various public, private and voluntary sector organisations. The aim of theinitiative is to give the people of the rural Vale the power to control the future of their communities.

    The Partnership - Led by the Vale Council in partnership with public, private, voluntary and community sector

    organisations in the area, the partnership aims to help those in the rural Vale contribute to their communities andto have a say in their development by utilising funding and providing networking opportunities.

    Funding is enabling the partnership to help individuals, groups and communities throughout the rural Vale.

    Creative Rural Communities will provide vital support for a wide range of potential projects that will benefit thosecommunities both now and in the future.

    Local Action Group (LAG) The LAG consists of a group of local people who make the all-important decisions

    about where the funding from CRC can make the most difference to local peoples lives.

    Community Consultation is an exercise to find out what is important tomembers of that community. Out of this consultation a list of aspirations andactions are put into a written document. It encourages a community to lookat itself currently, provide an overview and identify possible opportunities for

    developments for the future...its the community setting out what they wantfor their area.

    The aim of this project is to enhance local pride and distinctiveness invillages with grants to address physical development needs identified bycommunities - to secure small-scale capital investment and improvements tothe public realm within villages. Green it grants will be used to make

    existing community buildings more environmentally sustainable, this couldinclude energy waste reduction or the generation of renewable energy.

    Capital and revenue grant aid to support theconversion/diversification of existing service

    facilities to offer shared uses for the communitybased on the Pub is the Hub model butdetermined by the local community.

    Community Foodie

    Aim: To engage local people in the growing and celebration of food through ashared interest and understanding

    Objectives:Encourage and facilitate joint working between land owners and local peopleSeek alternative uses for underused landDevelop horticultural skills through shared knowledge and expertiseIncrease the amount of produce grown locally

    Increase availability and consumption of local produceContribute to developing local food culturesCelebrate the diversity of the roles of food in communities

    Rural Events Network- network which aims tobring together rural event organisers from the

    local area to share ideas, experiences and totake advantage of the use of free equipment.
