KNM holds protest over killing,attacks on nationalist forces

RAMBAN, Mar 3: After reg-istering a case against army per-sonal, the sleuths of CrimeBranch conducted raid in a com-puter institute here and arrestedits owner.
As per police sources, thesleuths of Crime Branch fromJammu and assisted by a policeteam conducted raid in a com-puter institute and arrested itsowner for being the co-accusedin the blackmailing of a girl.
The computer instituteowner has been identified asAshok Singh, sources said,adding that the Crime Branchteam also seized the computersfrom the institute.

Notorious burglar arrested,stolen gold items recovered

JAMMU, Mar 3: Gangyalpolice under 'OperationMeghdoot' worked out a theftcase within 24 hours with thearrest of notorious burglar andrecovery of stolen gold itemsworth Rs 4.50 lakh.
As per police sources, a writ-ten complaint was lodged by alady namely Usha Rani, wife ofShrimoni Sharma, a resident ofJaalu Chak today with policestation Gangyal stating thatsome unidentified personsbarged into her house anddecamped with gold weighing15 tolas after breaking the locksof her house, when she alongwith her family members hadgone to attend a function her rel-atives.
Acting over the complaint, acase under FIR Number 18/16under Section 454 and 380 was
registered at police stationGangyal and hunt was launchedto nab the thieves.
During the course of investi-gation, the police team detaineda suspect, who during question-ing broke down and confessed tocommit the theft.
The accused has been identi-fied as Tushar Sharma, son ofKamal Sharma, a resident ofShiv Nagar Kunjwani.
On his disclosure, the stolengold items were recovered.
Further questioning of theaccused is going on to ascertainhis involvement in other theftcases.

decades old one time settlementissues of DP’s in right perspectiveparticularly of 1947 from PoK toseek its appropriate redressal aspromised in agenda of alliance.
Addressing press conference,president of the JKSAC GurdevSingh said that order dated Dec22, 2016 addressed to ChiefSecretary of State by JointSecretary FFR Division MHA inreference to State Govt referenceNo. R&R/ REHB/ CSC/19 /2015dated, 14-06-2016 in connectionwith disbursement of Rs 2000crore package @ Rs 5.5 lakh eachDP family has over ruled the rec-ommendations of Rs 25 lakh perDP family as recommended bythe previous State Govt. and Rs30 lacs each DP family projectedby the JPC with other significantcomponents.
It has clearly exposed the tallclaims of Coalition Govt particu-larly BJP to compensate DP’sadequately. He said theannouncements made regularlyregarding Rs 2000 crore as firstinstallment particularly of DrJatinder Singh, Minister in PMOon Feb 11, 2017 at Kathua andcommitment made by Raj NathSingh, Home Minister duringthe visit of All Parties delegationon September 5, 2016 are quitecontrary to the order mentionedabove.

persons, which states very clearlythat “GoI has carefully consid-ered the proposal submitted on14-06-2016 by State Govt, thatthe DP’s have been given varietyof packages from time to timeonwards 1947 viz-a-viz agricul-ture land, plots /quarters, cashcompensation. So, in view of allthis Rs 5.5 lakhs is reasonableamount for their sustenance.”
The JKSAC leader allegedthat facts have been always con-cealed and distorted by StateGovt and termed this order asmost illogical, unjustified anddevoid of sense of justice. He saidif any kind of relief was given toDP’s as Govt claims on one handand on the other hand it was takenback. He added that the land wasallotted to DP’s but it costs @ Rs2500 was deducted from the ex-gratia grant of Rs 3500 providedby GoI in 1960-62 uniformlywithout taking consideration thequantum of land allotted to eachDP family. The remaining Rs1000 was adjusted as interest inrespect of loan of Rs 500-1000advanced to each DP family earli-er. The cost of land was deductedfrom those DP families who werenot even handed over the posses-sion of land allotted till datebecause of certain draconianRevenue laws of State.
The urban DP’s were allottedplots/quarters, Rs 2250 wasdeducted as cost and the restamount of the ex-gratia grant wasadjusted as interest. More than8000 rural families were allottedland much below the Govt sanc-tioned scale as per own Govtrecords, only 2800 families werecompensated uniformly @ Rs30,000 per kanal with a ceiling ofRs 1.5 lakh much below the aver-age market rates without takinginto account the quantum of landdeficiency of each family. 5300families settled outside the statehave not been taken in accountbesides 9500 other DP familieswhich were debarred from allkinds of benefits on flimsygrounds.

According to a policespokesman, a speeding truckbearing registration numberJK02L-4624 this evening hit abike number JK02S-8326 nearMilitary Hospital Satwari,resulting into on the spot deathof the bike rider, who was iden-tified as Ramesh Kumar son ofRaj Kumar, a resident ofKhandwal (Chattha).
"The body of the deceasedwas shifted to mortuary of thehospital for autopsy while a casein this connection was registeredat police station Satwari andinvestigation started", he added.
He said that another mishapoccurred at Gagian in RS Purawhere a mini-bus hit a car and
injured its driver namely RattanLal son of Sant Ram, of ward No10, RS Pura. "The injured cardriver was shifted to CHC RSPura for treatment and a case inthis connection was registered atpolice station RS Pura", thespokesman added.

Man consumes poison, dies

who consumed some poisonoussubstance on February 28 at hisresidence in Satwari area of cityoutskirts, died today atGovernment Medical Collegeand Hospital (GMCH), here.
The man identified asBahadur Singh (45) son ofKhazan Singh, resident of RaniBagh (Satwari), was shifted toGMCH Jammu on February 28after he consumed some poison-ous substance.
However, the man expiredtoday. The body of the deceasedwas shifted to mortuary room ofthe hospital for post mortem.The concerned police had takencognizance of the matter.

Ration dealers protest against FCS&CA Deptt

MENDHAR, Mar 3: Theration dealers from Mendhar,Mankote, Balakote and Gursai/Harni area held protest demon-stration against the Food, CivilSupplies and Consumer Affairsdepartment for not releasingtheir commission and carriagecharges for the last eight to tenmonths.
The dealers assembled out-side TSO office here in the townand started protest demonstra-tion. They alleged that for lastmany months, the departmenthas failed to release their com-mission money and carriage
charges. They also alleged thatdespite sanction of their fullquota of ration, the concernedTSO staff/ storekeepers deducttheir ration on flimsy grounds.Even the TSO and concernedAssistant Director when aprisedabout the matter, did not botherto take note of this illegal prac-tice.
