The protestors condemning the attacks and said that some forces are hell bent upon targeting nationalist forces to achieve their political agendas and now in a well planed way educational institutions are being used for these activities, which is great threat to nation. They urged upon Government to intervene in the matter before the situation takes ugly turn. They also urged the Government to take strict measures to curb such activities. Lekh Raj Nirala, Convener Kishtwar Nagrik Manch, Swami Ram Saran Das Shastri, Ram Sewak Sharma, Chuni Lal Parihar , Captain (retd) Dewan Chand, Des Raj, Rakesh Sen, Munishwer Sharma and many others addressed the gathering. Later, the protestors submitted a memorandum for President of India to DC Kishtwar. Co-accused in girl’s blackmailing case arrested Excelsior Correspondent RAMBAN, Mar 3: After reg- istering a case against army per- sonal, the sleuths of Crime Branch conducted raid in a com- puter institute here and arrested its owner. As per police sources, the sleuths of Crime Branch from Jammu and assisted by a police team conducted raid in a com- puter institute and arrested its owner for being the co-accused in the blackmailing of a girl. The computer institute owner has been identified as Ashok Singh, sources said, adding that the Crime Branch team also seized the computers from the institute. It is to mention that, on the compliant of the girl that some- body started blackmailing her by sending offensive text messages through different mobile num- bers threatening her that he was having her video and nude pic- tures which he is going to post on the social networking sites and if the complainant wants to stop him she should send him her fresh nude pictures and porn video of other girls particularly of Ramban area alongwith an amount of Rs 5 lakh. After conducting prelimi- nary inquiry, Crime Branch yesterday registered a case under Section 354-A, 354-B, 354-D, 420, 467, 468, 471, 385 and 120-B RPC r/w Section 66- A, 66-D and 66-D IT Act against an army person identi- fied as Gulab Singh Parihar, son of Sham Singh, a resident of Parihar Mohallah, Ramban and others. Notorious burglar arrested, stolen gold items recovered Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: Gangyal police under 'Operation Meghdoot' worked out a theft case within 24 hours with the arrest of notorious burglar and recovery of stolen gold items worth Rs 4.50 lakh. As per police sources, a writ- ten complaint was lodged by a lady namely Usha Rani, wife of Shrimoni Sharma, a resident of Jaalu Chak today with police station Gangyal stating that some unidentified persons barged into her house and decamped with gold weighing 15 tolas after breaking the locks of her house, when she along with her family members had gone to attend a function her rel- atives. Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 18/16 under Section 454 and 380 was registered at police station Gangyal and hunt was launched to nab the thieves. During the course of investi- gation, the police team detained a suspect, who during question- ing broke down and confessed to commit the theft. The accused has been identi- fied as Tushar Sharma, son of Kamal Sharma, a resident of Shiv Nagar Kunjwani. On his disclosure, the stolen gold items were recovered. Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases. Police team led by SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and assisted by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aejaz Wani made the arrest under the super- vision of SP South Sandeep Choudhary. JKSAC flays State Govt on Rs 5.5 lakh package issue Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: The Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) strongly condemned the State Govt for not projecting and highlighting the decades old one time settlement issues of DP’s in right perspective particularly of 1947 from PoK to seek its appropriate redressal as promised in agenda of alliance. Addressing press conference, president of the JKSAC Gurdev Singh said that order dated Dec 22, 2016 addressed to Chief Secretary of State by Joint Secretary FFR Division MHA in reference to State Govt reference No. R&R/ REHB/ CSC/19 /2015 dated, 14-06-2016 in connection with disbursement of Rs 2000 crore package @ Rs 5.5 lakh each DP family has over ruled the rec- ommendations of Rs 25 lakh per DP family as recommended by the previous State Govt. and Rs 30 lacs each DP family projected by the JPC with other significant components. It has clearly exposed the tall claims of Coalition Govt particu- larly BJP to compensate DP’s adequately. He said the announcements made regularly regarding Rs 2000 crore as first installment particularly of Dr Jatinder Singh, Minister in PMO on Feb 11, 2017 at Kathua and commitment made by Raj Nath Singh, Home Minister during the visit of All Parties delegation on September 5, 2016 are quite contrary to the order mentioned above. Singh and other members circulated the order to the media persons, which states very clearly that “GoI has carefully consid- ered the proposal submitted on 14-06-2016 by State Govt, that the DP’s have been given variety of packages from time to time onwards 1947 viz-a-viz agricul- ture land, plots /quarters, cash compensation. So, in view of all this Rs 5.5 lakhs is reasonable amount for their sustenance.” The JKSAC leader alleged that facts have been always con- cealed and distorted by State Govt and termed this order as most illogical, unjustified and devoid of sense of justice. He said if any kind of relief was given to DP’s as Govt claims on one hand and on the other hand it was taken back. He added that the land was allotted to DP’s but it costs @ Rs 2500 was deducted from the ex- gratia grant of Rs 3500 provided by GoI in 1960-62 uniformly without taking consideration the quantum of land allotted to each DP family. The remaining Rs 1000 was adjusted as interest in respect of loan of Rs 500-1000 advanced to each DP family earli- er. The cost of land was deducted from those DP families who were not even handed over the posses- sion of land allotted till date because of certain draconian Revenue laws of State. The urban DP’s were allotted plots/quarters, Rs 2250 was deducted as cost and the rest amount of the ex-gratia grant was adjusted as interest. More than 8000 rural families were allotted land much below the Govt sanc- tioned scale as per own Govt records, only 2800 families were compensated uniformly @ Rs 30,000 per kanal with a ceiling of Rs 1.5 lakh much below the aver- age market rates without taking into account the quantum of land deficiency of each family. 5300 families settled outside the state have not been taken in account besides 9500 other DP families which were debarred from all kinds of benefits on flimsy grounds. One killed, another injured in road mishaps Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: A man was killed while another injured in two separate road mishaps share today in city outskirts. According to a police spokesman, a speeding truck bearing registration number JK02L-4624 this evening hit a bike number JK02S-8326 near Military Hospital Satwari, resulting into on the spot death of the bike rider, who was iden- tified as Ramesh Kumar son of Raj Kumar, a resident of Khandwal (Chattha). "The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of the hospital for autopsy while a case in this connection was registered at police station Satwari and investigation started", he added. He said that another mishap occurred at Gagian in RS Pura where a mini-bus hit a car and injured its driver namely Rattan Lal son of Sant Ram, of ward No 10, RS Pura. "The injured car driver was shifted to CHC RS Pura for treatment and a case in this connection was registered at police station RS Pura", the spokesman added. Yoga imperative for healthy, cheerful life: Lal Singh Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: Minister for Forest, Environment & Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh today stressed the need to attract people towards Yoga for leading a healthy and cheerful life. The Minister said this while addressing a gathering during an awareness camp being organ- ized by Ministry of AYUSH under the campaign 'Diabetes Mukt Bharat' in Bishnah. Enumerating the benefit of Yoga, the Minister said besides keeping diabetes under control, Yoga also helps in improving digestion, circulation, immunity and keeps human body healthier and energetic. He further said drug addic- tion is eating up the society from within and suggested that Yoga can also help in keeping the youth away from this social evil. He also stressed on the youth to stay away from drugs and said that youth involved in the drug addiction is a challenge for the country. He asked the law enforcement agencies to keep a strict vigil on the drug traffick- ers and punish the culprits involved in such heinous activi- ties. He impressed upon the youth to make exercise an important part of their daily schedule. It was informed during the camp that Ministry of AYUSH will hold similar Diabetes Awareness Camps in Jammu, Kulgam, Samba and Kathua. 2 officers shifted Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: The State Government today ordered transfers and postings of two officers of Under Secretary level, with immediate effect. Gurdeep Kour, Under Secretary to the Government, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department, has been trans- ferred and posted as Under Secretary Agriculture Production Department while Shubi Tabasum, Under Secretary in the J&K Board of Professional entrance Examination, has been trans- ferred and posted as Under Secretary to the Government, ARI and Training Department. Forest land retrieved Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: In an anti- encroachment drive, a team of Forest Department headed by Surinder Nath, Range Officer Kalidhar alongwith other field staff has today removed the encroachment from Compartment No. 37/K of Panjgrain block at village Dhanna in Akhnoor and retrieved 4 Kanal 8 Marlas of Forest land. The land had been encroached upon by one Pawan Kumar, son of Biji Ram, resi- dent of Dhanna in Tehsil Akhnoor. The whole operation was carried out under the super- vision of DFO Jammu, Dr AD Singh. The DFO stated that the Forest team which proceeded to the spot located at village Dhanna in Compartment No. 37/K for removal of encroach- ment, faced stiff resistance however, could able to retrieve the Forest land by dismantling under construction structure. Cong protests shortage of ration Excelsior Correspondent POONCH, Mar 3: Congress activists today held strong demonstration and blocked road in protest against the shortage of ration in district Poonch here today. Led by District Congress Committee president S Rajinder Singh (Kaka), the Congress workers from district body and Youth wing assem- bled near Main Chowk here and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against FCS&CA Department, concerned minister and Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. During protest, the congress activists also blocked road for about an hour and disrupted movement of traffic. It was however, restored with the intervention of local police. The DCC president alleged that there was shortage of ration in the district and levy sugar was not available for the last four months. The department has totally failed to provide ration to the public. Man consumes poison, dies Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: A man, who consumed some poisonous substance on February 28 at his residence in Satwari area of city outskirts, died today at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), here. The man identified as Bahadur Singh (45) son of Khazan Singh, resident of Rani Bagh (Satwari), was shifted to GMCH Jammu on February 28 after he consumed some poison- ous substance. However, the man expired today. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem. The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter. Drug peddler apprehended with heroin Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: Police under 'Operation Sanjeevani' arrested a drug peddler along with heroin. As per police sources, based on reliable information, a police team apprehended a drug ped- dler along with 2 grams heroin. The accused has been identi- fied as Vijay Choudhary alias Viju, son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Ward Number 8, RS Pura. A case under relevant Sections has been registered against the accused at police station RS Pura and investiga- tion started. The accused was appre- hended by police team led by SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and assisted by SHO RS Pura Inspector Bhushan Manhas under the supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu Romesh Kotwal. Ration dealers protest against FCS&CA Deptt Excelsior Correspondent MENDHAR, Mar 3: The ration dealers from Mendhar, Mankote, Balakote and Gursai/ Harni area held protest demon- stration against the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department for not releasing their commission and carriage charges for the last eight to ten months. The dealers assembled out- side TSO office here in the town and started protest demonstra- tion. They alleged that for last many months, the department has failed to release their com- mission money and carriage charges. They also alleged that despite sanction of their full quota of ration, the concerned TSO staff/ storekeepers deduct their ration on flimsy grounds. Even the TSO and concerned Assistant Director when aprised about the matter, did not bother to take note of this illegal prac- tice. They alleged large scale bungling and pilferage in the ration in the area. They demand- ed that full quota of their ration be provided to the dealers and officials concerned should refrain from their dictatorial atti- tude. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the SDM. Jan flays Govt for delay in construction of bunkers Excelsior Correspondent POONCH, Mar 3: National Conference today flayed State Government for leaving border residents on the mercy of God and said that promises made with border people by ruling BJP and PDP have fallen flat with claims of bunker construc- tion in border areas still to see light of the day. While addressing a public meeting in border village of Khari Karmara Poonch, Youth National Conference provincial president Ajaz Jan said that number of villages located in border areas of Poonch are under crisis of basic amenities with whole system on God's mercy. Castigating both PDP and BJP for making false promises with border populations, Jan said that both the parties made big promises with border popu- lation before polls and now lead- ers of party are missing from ground and public is suffering. Make India Jehad, communism free: Tarun Vijay Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: Former MP and senior BJP leader Tarun Vijay today lambasted Communists for unleashing a reign of terror in Kerala. “The violence unleashed by Communists in Kerala is mirror image of Jehadi violence in Kashmir'' the senior BJP leader said while addressing a meeting organized against communist violence in Kerala at Kargil Sabhagar here. The meeting was attended by veteran RSS leaders including Pranth Pracharak Ramesh Papa. Vijay accused CPI (M) workers of attacking and killing BJP and RSS workers only because of differences in ideol- ogy and this is totally unaccept- able under Indian Constitution. He said the Communist ide- ology along with Jehadism have become biggest threat to liberal democratic values in the coun- try. The Communist ideology has inspired Maoists and Nexals who have killed tens and thou- sands of innocent people in Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jeharkhand. Vijay demanded that this ideology should be banned to make India Jehad and Communism free. DIG seeks cooperation of media, civil society in fostering peace Excelsior Correspondent RAJOURI, Mar 3: The DIG Rajouri and Poonch Range Deepak K Salathia has sought the cooperation of media and civil society in promotion of brotherhood and eradication of crime and drug menace from the society. The DIG during an interac- tion with media persons here today said both civil society and media play an important role in transformation of the society. “Police is trying to increase liai- son with people for promotion of peace and brotherhood and for the same we need coopera- tion of both media and civil society’’, he added. DIG said though there is total peace and calm in twin bor- der districts of Rajouri and Poonch still we need to remain vigilant in view of coming festi- val season so that the miscreants don’t get any chance to create trouble and vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the area. In reply to a question of traf- fic chaos being witnessed at Abdullah bridge the DIG said that cops will be placed on duty to regulate the traffic there. Haryana Chief Minister meets Governor Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana, accompanied by O.P. Dhankar, Minister for Agriculture, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today. The Governor and the Chief Minister discussed various pos- sibilities of extending multi-dis- ciplinary co-operation between the two States in identified areas, particularly collaborative programmes in agriculture, forests, fisheries, animal hus- bandry, poultry farming and related sectors. BJYM to launch ‘one booth ten youth’ campaign: Magotra Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 3: A monthly meeting of all the district pres- idents of BJYM was held at Party Headquarter Trikuta Nagar. The meeting was chaired by BJYM State presi- dent Dr. Suresh Ajay Magotra along with BJP State secretary and Prabhari BJYM Sanjay Baru. The meeting was also held in context of upcoming Panchayat elections in the State. BJYM State general secre- taries, Vikas Choudhary and Tarun Sharma was also present in the meeting. Addressing the meeting Dr. Magotra said that it is only because of the hardwork of district presidents of BJYM that we are able to reach at mandal level across the State. He further said that mostly all the teams upto mandal level are completed and only because of the hard work and the responsibility taken by all the concerned district presi- dents in their concerned dis- tricts, the Youth brigade of the party had made the strong foundation at Mandal level. Dr. Magotra further said that now our next focus is to reach at booth level, some of the district presidents have already started working on “one booth ten youth” and will complete it within one month. JAMMU, Mar 3: The JammuKashmir Sharnarthi ActionCommittee (JKSAC) stronglycondemned the State Govt for notprojecting and highlighting the

decades old one time settlementissues of DP’s in right perspectiveparticularly of 1947 from PoK toseek its appropriate redressal aspromised in agenda of alliance.

Addressing press conference,president of the JKSAC GurdevSingh said that order dated Dec22, 2016 addressed to ChiefSecretary of State by JointSecretary FFR Division MHA inreference to State Govt referenceNo. R&R/ REHB/ CSC/19 /2015dated, 14-06-2016 in connectionwith disbursement of Rs 2000crore package @ Rs 5.5 lakh eachDP family has over ruled the rec-ommendations of Rs 25 lakh perDP family as recommended bythe previous State Govt. and Rs30 lacs each DP family projectedby the JPC with other significantcomponents.

It has clearly exposed the tallclaims of Coalition Govt particu-larly BJP to compensate DP’sadequately. He said theannouncements made regularlyregarding Rs 2000 crore as firstinstallment particularly of DrJatinder Singh, Minister in PMOon Feb 11, 2017 at Kathua andcommitment made by Raj NathSingh, Home Minister duringthe visit of All Parties delegationon September 5, 2016 are quitecontrary to the order mentionedabove.

persons, which states very clearlythat “GoI has carefully consid-ered the proposal submitted on14-06-2016 by State Govt, thatthe DP’s have been given varietyof packages from time to timeonwards 1947 viz-a-viz agricul-ture land, plots /quarters, cashcompensation. So, in view of allthis Rs 5.5 lakhs is reasonableamount for their sustenance.”

The JKSAC leader allegedthat facts have been always con-cealed and distorted by StateGovt and termed this order asmost illogical, unjustified anddevoid of sense of justice. He saidif any kind of relief was given toDP’s as Govt claims on one handand on the other hand it was takenback. He added that the land wasallotted to DP’s but it costs @ Rs2500 was deducted from the ex-gratia grant of Rs 3500 providedby GoI in 1960-62 uniformlywithout taking consideration thequantum of land allotted to eachDP family. The remaining Rs1000 was adjusted as interest inrespect of loan of Rs 500-1000advanced to each DP family earli-er. The cost of land was deductedfrom those DP families who werenot even handed over the posses-sion of land allotted till datebecause of certain draconianRevenue laws of State.

The urban DP’s were allottedplots/quarters, Rs 2250 wasdeducted as cost and the restamount of the ex-gratia grant wasadjusted as interest. More than8000 rural families were allottedland much below the Govt sanc-tioned scale as per own Govtrecords, only 2800 families werecompensated uniformly @ Rs30,000 per kanal with a ceiling ofRs 1.5 lakh much below the aver-age market rates without takinginto account the quantum of landdeficiency of each family. 5300families settled outside the statehave not been taken in accountbesides 9500 other DP familieswhich were debarred from allkinds of benefits on flimsygrounds.

"The body of the deceasedwas shifted to mortuary of thehospital for autopsy while a casein this connection was registeredat police station Satwari andinvestigation started", he added.

He said that another mishapoccurred at Gagian in RS Purawhere a mini-bus hit a car and

Man consumes poison, dies

who consumed some poisonoussubstance on February 28 at hisresidence in Satwari area of cityoutskirts, died today atGovernment Medical Collegeand Hospital (GMCH), here.

The man identified asBahadur Singh (45) son ofKhazan Singh, resident of RaniBagh (Satwari), was shifted toGMCH Jammu on February 28after he consumed some poison-ous substance.

Ration dealers protest against FCS&CA Deptt

MENDHAR, Mar 3: Theration dealers from Mendhar,Mankote, Balakote and Gursai/Harni area held protest demon-stration against the Food, CivilSupplies and Consumer Affairsdepartment for not releasingtheir commission and carriagecharges for the last eight to tenmonths.

The dealers assembled out-side TSO office here in the townand started protest demonstra-tion. They alleged that for lastmany months, the departmenthas failed to release their com-mission money and carriage

charges. They also alleged thatdespite sanction of their fullquota of ration, the concernedTSO staff/ storekeepers deducttheir ration on flimsy grounds.Even the TSO and concernedAssistant Director when aprisedabout the matter, did not botherto take note of this illegal prac-tice.
