Shawn Lane has been recognized as the fastestguitar player ever, but from our point of view, hewas primarily a composer of melodies that deeply

    reached the soul.

We made a unique Excalibur guitar for himwhich features a flat fingerboard with probably

the lowest string action in guitar-making history.

He played this guitar from the day he got it, untilthe day he sadly died in 2003.

We kindly thank his family for allowing us tocontinue building Shawn's signature guitar series.

Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal is The guitarist of this generation. He hasinspired musicians worldwide with his extraordinary technical skillsand, simply stated, he has conquered the guitar. In addition to being

an amazing player, Ron has proven himself as a prolific composer andarranger.

The Bfoot features a 5-way custom pickup selector switch, a killswitchto create special effects, and a tremolo that rests on the body.

Bumblefoot's inventiveness made use of a sewing thimble for playingslide guitar. The removable thimble has been conveniently placed on the

    guitar body for quick access.

Finally, to continue in unconventional style, this series has twodifferent logos.

  • General SpecificationsNeck

WWooooddTo manufacture the neck, we use thesame maple wood selected by greatclassical instrument makers for centuries. This wood is cut in Europe's forests anddried naturally before it will be used. The humidity level is strictly controlledwhile it is stored.

FFiinnggeerrbbooaarrdd aanndd ffrreettssEach fingerboard is rectified to the onehundredth of a millimeter to ensure it'sexceptionally straight. Frets will then befitted, also rectified and polishedmeticulously.A Phenowood™ fingerboard is used onthe Arpege, Passion, G.V.Wood andMarilyn models. Its physical strengthand stability offer excellent wearresistance, high response, plus neat andaccurate fretting.Traditional maple or rosewoodfingerboards are your choice for Excess,Expert or Excalibur models.

DDeellttaa MMeettaall™™ ffrreettlleessss ffiinnggeerrbbooaarrddFor the accomplished musician whowants to enter the discipline of fretlessplaying, we developed the Delta Metalfingerboard in 1979. Gold in color, it isimmediately striking and features ahard surface that will stay even for along period of time. It produces sustaincomparable to fretted instruments and isrich in harmonics. Exclusively availableon 4-string bass models and 6-stringguitars.

ZZeerroo ffrreett A zero fret has always been fitted on allof our instruments. This slightly higherfret balances open or fretted string notes, ensures perfect string height andminimizes string friction to help avoiddetuning when using the tremolo. Wemade it removable so it's easier to replaceif needed.

FFiinniisshhA matte varnish is sprayed on everyExcalibur, Expert or Excess neck in orderto completely protect the wood, as well asenhance its feel and play.

CCoommffoorrttThe master element of the guitar's soundand comfort is the neck. It alwaysreceives particular attention every timewe develop new concepts to improve itsperformance. Because the neck is handfinished, each one can be verified by ourluthiers. They will make sure nothingwas overlooked. And our reputation isproof that your hands will feel it!

1100//9900 NNeecckk SSyysstteemm™™This exclusive advanced concept of 10%carbon and 90% wood replaces thetraditional metal truss rod with a densecarbon strip to reinforce the neck.Employed for over 20 years on all Vigierguitars and basses, this concept makesthe neck strong and stable duringclimate change. To get a full sound, wenever believed it was logical to drill ahole through a neck and then insert a rodof metal inside. Necks with the 10/90System are solid, notes ring longer, andyour sound is powerful and precise.Wood necks with truss rods are tooflexible; they absorb the energy of thestring and shorten sustain. Our 10/90Neck System also contributes to tuningstability because with wood necks, themetal truss rod rubs and causes detuningproblems while using the tremolo.

BodyCCoommffoorrttWhen we design the shape, we keep inmind the harmony between the playerand the guitar. The perfect balance ofthe instrument is achieved by aligningthe neck with the axis of the humanbody. Our guitars weigh approximately3Kg to 3.7Kg and are undoubtedly oneof the lightest in their category. So, forthose who play spectacular, action-filledconcerts, or just perform endlessly, we arepositive that you'll appreciate themanageability and light weight.

WWooooddDepending on the models, we can use alder, maple, or ash. Selected in Europe'sforests, these woods are real and solid. They are dried naturally for years in ourfactory before we cut them. The body is made up of only two center-joined pieces, notfour, or sometimes even seven pieces, like industrial makers often use in construction.

FFiinniisshhThe summit of quality is shown in ourfinishes. Our master finisher sprays over10 thin coats of varnish betweennumerous sanding procedures. Aminimum amount of varnish is sprayedto avoid oversealing the wood so it canvibrate, yet be protected like on anacoustic instrument. After, we will waitat least one month before we proceed withthe final sanding and polishing. This isstate of the art. Please refer to the end ofthe catalog for the standard colorsavailable on each model.

Removable zero fret & Teflon guide, Flexretainers TTeefflloonn gguuiiddee

A Teflon nut guides the strings anddramatically reduces friction at the nut, where tuning problems are most likely tooccur. Strings will glide effortlessly andcome back in tune when players are usingthe tremolo or bending strings. It is easily replaceable and players willbe able to make any necessary changes ontheir own instruments and select the nutthat best fits their preferred string gauge.

FFlleexxrreettaaiinneerrTTMMOn guitars with a non-locking tremoloone of the detuning problems occurs fromthe string retainer located between thenut and the machine heads. When usingthe tremolo, there is friction at this level. We have eliminated any friction bymaking the string retainer flexible; itgoes backwards when you push thetremolo down and goes forwards whenyou pull it. It almost works like thependulum clock; it is simple and yet veryefficient!

  • TremoloLong before others, we built our own locking tremolo so we know what guitar virtuosos and heavy tremolo users need to stay intune. Usually, the bridge's pivot system is fitted with knives, but we decided to replace them with ball bearings. This design is

exclusively used on Vigier instruments. Once the knives are worn, there is no way the tremolo can come back to its originalposition because there is friction. When this happens, you will have detuning problems. Our ball bearings can turn 10,000 times

per minute, so they are impossible to wear out.

VViiggiieerr®® FFllooyydd RRoossee®® lliicceennsseedd ttrreemmoollooThis tremolo is available on theExcalibur Original , Custom and Bfootmodels. It makes the guitar virtuallyundetunable. The only slight detuningproblem may occur from the string'smetal stretching!

The tuning stability comes from theindispensable one-piece locking nut andour zero fret that guarantees exact firstfret action height and accurate tuning.

For your playing comfort, the saddlesare hand-adjusted to precisely match theradius of the fingerboard.

For your convenience, the angle of thetremolo arm can be set while you'replaying and removed easily when youare not. Finally, the Allen keys havebeen neatly fitted at the rear of theheadstock.

VViiggiieerr®® 22001111 aanndd 22001177 ttrreemmoolloossThese non-locking tremolos are set on the Excalibur Supra, Special, Shawn Lane,Indus, Ultra , Kaos and the Expert for guitarists that are looking for a rich andcrunchy sound. The perfect tuning and stability is also ensured through the lockingmachine heads that are precisely aligned with the strings, by our traditional zero fretand by our FlexretainerTM. Another important detail is the short distance between thebridge saddle and the place where the string is anchored. Also, each saddle can belocked into position once intonation is set, and a small roller is located at the stringbreak point to minimize friction. They have as much tuning stability as most guitarsequipped with a Floyd Rose.

BridgesGGuuiittaarrssSimilar to the Excalibur Surfreter, a flatmount fixed bridge is available on theExcalibur Supra, Excalibur Special andthe Expert guitars. It is fully adjustableand features through-body stringing. On the Marilyn model, a solid bridgeand tailpiece combination has beenfitted. The G.V. is equipped with Vigier'sproprietary bridge and tailpiece. State ofthe art in design, once your setup is done, this bridge can be locked in place toprovide better sustain and reliability.

BBaasssseessA solid, quick-release bridge wasspecially designed to fit the Vigier bassseries. To change strings, you simply liftthem away. The saddles are set inindividual tracks and have independentheight and intonation adjustment. Tohelp remove extraneous noise or setupproblems, the saddles are locked intoposition once adjustments are complete.

Machine HeadsTo get perfect tuning and stability, we use locking machine heads in combination with our

2011 & 2017 non-locking tremolos. Furthermore, to get better sustain, the machine heads areoversized. This design is exclusive to Vigier.

ElectronicDepending on the model, we can fit passive or active electronics. Our commitment to offer the most up-to-date electronics dates back to 1983,

when we earned our credibility by being the first manufacturer to incorporate a microcomputer in our memory guitar.

DDeettaaiillssWe sprayed conductive paint inside theelectronic cavity, and depending on themodel, the backplate or the pickguard, toreduce hum when playing at highvolumes. All basses have active electronics and arepowered by two 9V batteries.More details on the electronics andpickups are given on the technicalspecification chart.

PPiicckkuuppssBefore any pickup is mounted on aVigier, it's entirely controlled. Anothersmall, but important, detail is that moststandard humbuckers have twoadjustment screws. However, we took thetime to add a third screw so that heightor tilt adjustments can be made easily, and equal distance between the stringsand the coils cam be achieved.Pickup selection for the Excalibur® andExpert® series:When the 5-way pickup switch is in themiddle position it connects the neck andbridge pickup together.
