What Are The Different Types of Roman Gladiators?

Andabatae - They usually sit on a horse while fighting.Bestiarii – They fight with wild beasts and they usually use a spear or a dagger for protection.Equites – They fought with a “gladius” which was a special type of sword, They never fought without shirts and their fights were less brutal, almost involving no killing.Murmillones – They were known for their helmets with a fish on its crest.Hoplomachi – They are similar to the Murmillons but they had spears instead of the “Gladius” and they wore leg wrappings and shin guards.Retiarii – They fought with a dagger and held a small metal shield and a special protective armour for neck.
