RARE GRAPE VARIETIES OF IMERETI REGION
WINE CLUB IS PRESENTING A NEW SERIES OF INFOGRAPHICS ON GEORGIA�S VITICULTURE AND WINEMAKING, WHICH WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH THE INFORMATION AND PHOTOS OF RARE GRAPE VARIETIES OF ALL REGIONS OF GEORGIA.
BZVANURA - Rarely planted Imeretian white grape variety. It is preserved in ampelographic nurseries of
Georgia and is also grown to a limited extent in homestead lands. The grape is used for making wine and
produces average yields.
TSVRILMARTSVALA - Imeretian white grape variety that is not widely planted. It is preserved in ampelographic nurseries of Georgia. This grape is used for making wine and produces low yields.
DIDSHAVI - Rarely planted Imeretian red grape variety. It is preserved in
ampelographic nurseries of Georgia. This varietal is used for producing wine and is
capable of high yields. It also performs well when grown on trees (maghlari).
CHKHINKOURI - Imeretian uncommon white grape variety. It is preserved in ampelographic nurseries of Georgia. This varietal is usually used for producing wine and is capable of higher than average yields.
DONDGLABI SHAVI - Rarely planted Imeretian red grape variety. It is preserved in ampelographic nurseries of Georgia and is also grown to a limited extent in homestead lands. This grape variety produces average yields and deep-colored wines. It also performs well when grown on trees (maghlari).
GRUBELA IMERULI - Imeretian white grape variety, which is not widely planted. It is
preserved in ampelographic nurseries of Georgia and is also grown to a limited
extent in homestead lands. This varietal is used for producing wine and is capable
of high yields. It performs well when grown on trees (maghlari) as well. There is
also Kakhetian Grubela and the one grown in Kartli.
KUPRASHVILISEULI - Rarely planted Imeretian red grape variety, which is preserved in ampelographic nurseries of Georgia. This varietal produces lower than average yields and is prone to uneven ripening. The grape is used for making wine and produces light red styles. The �owers of its grapevines are usually female.
MAGHLARI - Imeretian red grape variety that is not widely planted. It is preserved in ampelographic nurseries of Georgia. This varietal is capable of high yields and as the name suggests, it also performs well when grown on trees (maghlari).. The grape is used for making wine and produces deeply colored examples.
MAMUKAS SAPERE - Rarely planted Imeretian red grape variety. It is preserved in
ampelographic nurseries of Georgia and is also grown to a limited extent
in homestead lands. This varietal produces average yields and
is prone to uneven ripening. Mamukas Sapere is used for making wine and
produces supple-textured reds.
