Leverage the Asian hub with a global perspective
As one of Asia’s main air, sea and telecommunications hubs, Singapore offers access to a marketplace of some four billion people within a seven-hour flight radius. Business travellers can easily convene in Singapore, with over 100 international airlines flying to some 380 cities in 100 countries and territories worldwide. Beyond air and sea connectivity, Singapore also has the most extensive network of free trade agreements in Asia. Coupled with a trusted network of event organisers, venue operators, government agencies, trade associations and academic/research institutions, Singapore is well-positioned to ensure the smooth planning and successful staging of a business event.
“One of the key strategies to drive our events business forward is to form strategic partnerships with established MICE players abroad to create new shows in the Asian market. We will continue to collaborate with strategic
partners to develop new event concepts in key industries such as healthcare, technology and environment to meet industry demands, and in line with
Singapore’s vision to be the regional hub for these industries.”
Aloysius Arlando, CEO, SingEx Holdings Pte Ltd
Event organisers can also take advantage of the rising interest in Asia from the international business community, and attract delegates looking to access and harness the growing opportunities in this region. Singapore continues to attract and anchor quality business events, facilitating the creation of thought-provoking content and exchange of in-depth knowledge, while providing valuable networking opportunities. Our products and experiences are tailored to meet the needs of increasingly sophisticated delegates and business travellers.
Access thought leadership in a reliable and trusted business ecosystem
Singapore is the home base of thought leadership and innovation, with unique strengths in knowledge-based and knowledge-driven industries such as banking and finance, biomedical sciences, infocomm technology and media, energy and environment, as well as transport and security. We have also successfully grown our R&D base, drawing top scientific and creative talent and nurtured many R&D collaborations between the public sector and private enterprise. These factors continue to draw international thought leaders, high-level government officials, and international personalities to Singapore for the exchange of ideas and insights.
Singapore is home to over 7,000 multinational corporations and around 150 International Non-Profit Organisations (INPOs).

TRAVEL GREENPublic transport in Singapore is clean, efficient and safe. With the island’s extensive bus and train networks, delegates can get around the city and to meeting and convention venues easily and comfortably at less than a tenth of a private car’s carbon footprint. To further reduce the environmental impact, choose an environmentally-friendly airline, like Singapore Airlines, when making travel arrangements to and from Singapore.
JOIN GREEN SOCIAL ACTIVITIESDesigned as a city in a garden, Singapore offers an abundance of clean air and relaxing spaces for recreation. You can choose from myriad green tours organised by NParks, Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay, as well as green activities on Sentosa that are perfect for team building.
For more information on planning a green meeting using the guidelines, go to www.visitsingapore.com/mice/en/why-singapore/be-sustainable
Meetings go greenWith an increasing consciousness about the environment, more MICE event organisers are turning to destinations and venues with strong sustainability policies to enhance the overall visitor experience.
Three easy ways to go green in Singapore
CHOOSE A GREEN VENUEGreen venues enjoy savings in operational costs resulting from energy and water efficiencies. These savings can in turn be passed on to the event you are organising. Apart from reduced resource consumption, the extensive greenery and healthy indoor environment can also provide a greater sense of well-being to your delegates.
The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) certifies green venues in Singapore with the Green Mark. Look out for the BCA Green Mark symbol in our Event Venues directory.

Electronic Arrival Cards
As a tourist in Singapore, you may claim a refund on the 7% Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid on your purchases at participating retail shops before you leave Singapore. GST refund is applicable for purchases above SGD100. A handling fee for the refund service will be deducted from the GST amount. Claiming your GST refund is easy and hassle-free — thanks to the Electronic Tourist Refund Scheme (eTRS). Simply choose one credit/debit card as a Token for tagging your purchases entitled for refund and apply for a refund using the eTRS self-help kiosks at the airport and cruise terminals. Alternatively, you can use the eTRS Tickets issued at the point of purchase to apply for your tax refunds.
For more information on Tourist Refund Scheme, visit www.customs.gov.sg.
The Electronic Arrival Card is a new e-service provided by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). It enables the electronic submission of arrival information and trip details by foreign visitors, in replacement of paper-based disembarkation/embarkation cards.
To use the service, submit your personal information and trip details via ICA’s website or the SG Arrival Card mobile application, which may be downloaded from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). The e-service is free of charge.
For more information on the Electronic Arrival Card, visit www.ica.gov.sg
