Major Hazards and Impact of Char Abdulah Union of Ramgati Upazila
Hazard
Cyclone , Tidal Surge & Draught:
* People and their livestock not have safe place during Flood, cyclone and tidal surge.
* During Dry season Scarcity of sweet water.
Impact:
* This intervention shall ensure easy access to Elevated land / Killa and safety of livestock and human during flood, cyclone and Tidal surge.
* Availability of sweet water from Re-Excavated Pond round year.
Rational for the Proposed Scheme’s at Char Abdullah.
Cahr Abdullah is very remote Union and island Cahr which is 35 KM
far from Ramgati Upazila HQ. Surroundated by Meghna River.
Char is unprotected and every day inundated by tidal water.
Presently In this Char have not adequate number of Killa where the People and their livestock can take shelter during tidal surge and cyclone.
Every Cyclone the Upazila administration of Ramgti have taken initiative for evacuate the people from this risky char to safe place at main land. But they did not take any initiative about Poultry and livestock. Here mentioned that Large number of Cow and Buffalo are rearing by the farmers. They produce huge amount of milk and every day supply it in the urban area.
During dry season people face scarcity of sweet water as this area is saline water zone.
