Headteacher’s Corner
It’s been another interesting week! As I said in
my latest (no doubt eagerly anticipated) video
we have spent a lot of time this week
formulating plans for a phased, gradual
reopening of schools. In our planning, we have
two objectives: to keep everyone safe and to
get pupils back in school as soon as possible.
Balancing those two priorities is tricky; it’s clear
that the government are struggling, as we all
are, with finding ways of getting the country
running again whilst ensuring we all stay safe.
It’s the same for us as a school but I wanted to
reassure you of two things: firstly, contrary to
what you may have read in the media, all of us
are committed to getting pupils back into
school as soon as we can: school leaders,
teachers and support staff are all very keen to
do our duty to support the country’s efforts to
get children back into school. Secondly, we
will do this in a way which ensures that children
are safe. To do this we will follow government
guidelines, scientific advice and, frankly,
common sense.
The situation is changing very rapidly with new
advice being published on a daily basis but for
next week, at least, it’s business as normal -
online learning. We will, of course, keep you
updated as regularly as we can.

Learning at home
Reuben Bishop has been busy doing an
investigation linking how the shape of different
birds beaks relate to the food they eat. His
favourite investigation was the worms because
he was able to eat the sweets afterwards!
A huge thank you to Morrison’s Supermarket
who recently donated food parcels to the
school. These were distributed to some of our
families who were very happy to receive them
during these difficult times.
Sporting Success
Henley's own PE teacher Mrs Williams tops the
world masters athletics rankings this year. The
Stratford athlete is currently ranked 3rd in the
triple jump, 7th in the hurdles, 9th in the shot,
14th in the 60m and 1st in javelin, in which she
leads the WORLD rankings by 74cm! Well done!
Summer’s here!
Our Henley campus is transitioning beautifully
from Spring to Summer. We can’t wait to have
you all back to see it for yourselves!
Calling all Henley pupils! Would you you like some friendly competition against other pupils in our
area? If so, every Monday I will be sharing sports challenges for you to attempt. Recording your
score and submitting it online could mean certificates and prizes. GOOD LUCK! Mr McDowell

National Thank A Teacher Day
Don’t forget next week on 20th May, it is your
opportunity to thank your teacher . . . . how will
you thank your teacher?
The students who are children of key workers
have been working hard on a special crafting
project recently crafting a rainbow to
celebrate the NHS and all critical workers with
Ms Devine, Ms Thompson and Mr McCulley.
This is proudly displayed in the school
Reception.
Stay Safe
This is mainly a message for pupils…
If you are worried, if you are feeling unsafe, if
something’s not right at home or in your
relationships: we can help.
We know that at school you’d normally pop into
the pastoral office to chat but sadly that’s not
possible right now.
However, did you know that you can go to the
worries webform on our website to let us know.
If you’re worried, let us know and we’ll get in
touch and try to help out.
