Igneous –Rhyolite is a light-colored, fine-grained, extrusive igneous rock that typically contains

quartz and feldspar minerals

Page 3: Field lab

I found this rock in the Yosemite National Park. This rock was surrounded by many things. This rock is a medium sized rock that has two different colors on it. It has a little bit of gray and black. This rock was surrounded by many other rocks and sand. There was also trees surrounded it.

Sedimentary –Shaleis a clastic sedimentary rock that is made up of clay-size. It typically

breaks into thin flat pieces.

Page 5: Field lab

I found this rock in the Yosemite National Park and the colors of this rock are mostly gray along with black sparkling dots. I found this rock near a small stream and it was also surrounded by small twigs and rocks. There were many trees around the stream and there was a log across it as well.

Igneous- Andesite is a fine-grained, extrusive igneous

rock composed mainly of

plagioclase with other minerals

such as hornblende,

pyroxene and biotite

Page 7: Field lab

This rock I found it outside the West Hills College. This rock was in between some bushes and dirt. This rock has an interesting color because I had never seen one like this before. The colors that it has are yellow and it also has some parts of it that are white.

Metamorphic-Phyllite is a foliate metamorphic rock that is made up mainly of very fine-grained mica. The surface of phyllite is typically lustrous and sometimes wrinkled. It is intermediate in grade between slate and schist

Page 9: Field lab

This rock I found it in Bass Lake and the area where this big rock was, was full of many tall trees. There was also a river where there was also more rocks pilled up together. The colors of this rock are brown, black and it has a little bit of white too.

Igneous –Pegmatitie is a light-colored, extremely coarse-

grained intrusive igneous rock. It often contains rare minerals

that are not found in other parts of the magma chamber.

Page 11: Field lab

Pegmatitie -I found this rock in the Yosemite National Park and the colors of this rock are black, gray, and white. This rock seems like a stripped rock because it has all those different line patterns. I found this rock by a stream as well and it was very stuck to the ground. There were smaller rocks surrounding it, but it was mostly surrounded my many different sizes of rocks.

Dam Near Fresno Ca

Page 13: Field lab

This dam is located in Fresno and you and as you can see there’s a lot of water being transported from all the mountains like for example, the Yosemite National Park and Sequoia. There’s many mountains, rocks, grass, and a road surrounding this big dam.

Page 14: Field lab

This is an example of a fault. This fault is surrounded by many rocks, especially tall trees.

Page 15: Field lab

This bridge is in the Yosemite National Park. There’s small stream that is on both sides of this bridge. There’s trees,

grass, and rocks in the

area.
