INTRODUCTION
Drive test was performed on 03-09-2010 to verify the CELCOM GSMcoverage on Shah Alam and Mutiara Subang Area
Drive test route: Mutiara Subang (Batu Tiga) to Section 7 via Federalhighway
Drive test analyses are based on the following
Call Setup procedure
Handover process
RxLevel
RxQuality
One Samsung Z105 mobile was being used with Long call (connectedmode using ROMES Drive Test).

CALL SETUP PROCEDURE
Setup is part of the outgoing call procedure which contains of call type and B party BCD
Number. (Binary Code Decimal; BCD No in this case is 0173550576)

1) Intra-cell handover
2) Inter-cell handover
3) Inter-BSC, Intra-MSC handover
4) Inter-MSC handover
Handover is a procedure for changing assignment of mobile station from one
BS to another BS for call continuity especially during mobility.
Theory: Handover and Types of
Handover

ASSIGNMENT COMMAND
ASSIGNMENT COMMAND : This message is sent by the network to the mobile station to
change the channel configuration to another independent dedicated channel configuration.

1. Principle parameter for handoff is measured signal strength and quality from mobile unit to BS
(Measurement Report)
2. BS averages the signal over a moving window to remove fluctuation
3. Compared with a threshold, HO_MARGIN

HANDOVER COMMAND
This message is sent on the main DCCH by the network to the MS to change the
dedicated channel configuration, timing adjustment needed.

HANDOVER COMPLETE
This message is sent on the main DCCH by the network to the MS to indicate that the
MS has established the main signaling link successfully.

SA-T: Service Accessibility Telephony, ratio of the
number of successful call attempts (after
successful network access) to the total number of
call attempts is 1/12 = 8.33%
CCR-CS-T : Call Completion Rate Circuit Switched
Telephony, ratio of the number of intentionally
terminated calls to the number of successful callsis 100% which indicate 0% of Drop Call Rate. In
this case only 1 successful call is made.

UMTS/GSM ETSI QoS View
Drive Test was performed in 627.4secs and Handover Attempts is 45 with the
Successful Intracell HOs: 10 and Successful Intercell HOs: 35. The drop call rate of 0% is
reflected from the 100% handover success rate which provide call continuity during
mobility is in good condition.

RX LEVEL DEDICATED
Rx level 0 to 63 is GSM unit. While -110 to -47 is dbm. Rxlevel unit of GSM. When we will
add 110 to Rxlevel [dbm],it will get convert into GSM unit 0 to 63.

This RxQual Route Track displys information about the distribution ofRxQual values measured by the mobile phone and transferred to the test
system. In GSM networks the mobile provides a new RxQual value about every
480 ms.

CONCLUSION
The RxLev and RxQual that has been captured fromthe drive test showed the coverage and quality ofCELCOM GSM network
The drop called does not appeared in this data
possibly because only one call has been madeduring the entire process of drive test.
However base on the overall result even thoughonly one successful call has been made by one MSbut its still can be consider as a representation
or scenario of the CELCOM GSM network in the drivetest area in Shah Alam.
Shah Alam can also be call one of CELCOMTERRITORYs.
