The Basic ProcessPlug and play. That´s how easy it is to upgrade
your biogas using DMT´s Carborex® MS, a
containerized solution for biogas upgrading. No
columns, no water and no chemicals are needed.
A simple compression step combined with a multi-
stage membrane configuration purifies the biogas
up to 99% bio methane. This upgraded biogas can
be used for grid injection or compressed to 250
bar for use as vehicle fuel (CNG).
The ease of installation and operations assures
the highest up time. Due to the 100% flow
flexibility and quick control, the system guarantees
a continues operation and thereby gives you
the highest ROI. The simplicity of the design
guarantees an uptime of >98%. Your plant can be
monitored remotely 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Membrane separation is based on the diffusion of CO2 through a polymer film. Methane
diffuses at a much slower rate, which results in a methane rich gas at the outlet of the
membrane. The membrane is molded into tubes about the size of a hair (see picture at
the right). A few thousand of these tubes are grouped together in modules. Inside the
module the biogas is split into a CO2 rich and a CH
4 rich gas stream.
Both the CO2 and CH
4 rich phases are further treated by using a multi step membrane
configuration. In this way a methane recovery of more then 99% can be achieved.
As water permeates faster than CO2 the gas is dried at the same time. Also O
2 is
removed by about 65%.
This result in an almost pure upgraded methane stream with <1% CO2 and a dew point
of -90°C. The CO2 rich stream is of the highest purity with over 99% CO
2.
