Activities of IEAP in the ATLAS experiment
• Our fields of activities: SCT FWD – construction, testing ATLAS-MPX/TPX detector system
Radiation background measurement Luminosity measurement
Data analyzing From ATLAS-MPX/TPX “Complex” ATLAS data – taul leptons, ttH
(H→ττ) Study of physics, possibly observable in
the ATLAS experiment Effects of KK gluons, top quark
physics,…
• Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics (IEAP) is the research institute of the Czech Technical University in Prague.
• 26 physicists and 2 technicians from the IEAP are involved in the ATLAS experiment.
• 13 physicists are registered as ATLAS authors.
MPX03 - Close to HEC electronics
What we can offer• Know-how of pixel and strip detectors
Development of read-out electronics Tests of the electronics Tests of detection properties
• Clean rooms Used for SCT tests during the ATLAS construction
What we can offer• Manual wirebonding machine• Fast osciloscopes, all necessary equipments for digital as well as analog testing
(coincidence/anticoincidence, ADCs, fast scintillators,…).• Sources of radiation for detector testing
X-ray; Alpha, beta particles (source of electrons with controlled energy); Radionuclide neutron sources (thermal as well as fast neutrons).

What we can offer• Van de Graaff accelerator
p, d, α, 3He; Monochromatic neutrons (~100 keV up to 17 MeV).
What we can offer• Available access to harsh γ, n radiation fields (microtron), well defined beams of
slow and fast neutrons (collaborating partners).• Reference sources for absolute detection efficiency calibration for x, γ, n.• Manpower for Inner detector upgrade
Assembling and other mechanical works, experiments, administrative works;
8 employees + 1-2 new students, each ~20% FT capacity.• Experimental tests
Prepared by our employees, with our sources of ionizing particles and Van de Graaff accelerator.
