A Letter from Your LTG

With love, from me to you.

Dear Division 28,

September was crazy! With school revving back up and

all the regions and divisions putting together their Fall

Training Conferences and Fall Rally craziness and

upcoming standardized testing, there wasn't much time

left for sleep.

Basically everyone I know has gotten sick or sniffly. I feel

like I'm in an apocalypse movie. Hopefully you haven't

been taken by epidemic. Drink lots of water if you have.

And ask me for medicinal Asian tea (this will be about the

same time when you ask me Key Club-related questions

yay).

There is so much homework. Sooo much homework. And

most of you are also out there doing crazy things like

marching band and orchestra in addition to Key Club. If

you find yourself getting overwhelmed, I'm happy to help

out with whatever you need to get done. Just come to

me and talk about it!

I had so much fun at my Fall Training Conference just

from meeting you all. I want to thank all of you for being

amazing and for coming out to support all these great

causes. Key Club is great because of you!

And now, nap time.

Love,

Nancy

Important Announcement:

In honor of the amazingly fashionable Jayce

Williams, the official color for Division 28 are

now teal. Best go clean out your wardrobes,

kiddos. We're getting fabulous this month.

Thanks, the Management.

DIVISION SPOTLIGHT

Chamali Raigama, Lake - among so

many others who were lifesavers

during the Fall Training Conference.

Everyone can thank her for the

awesome dance music we had!

Jonathan Guajardo, GCM - The

Gangnam style master who lead the

galloping conga line through our FTC

ninja game!

Carlos Sotelo, Sam Rayburn - For

posting on the divisional page. I

want all of you to do this! The page

should be used for everyone to get

know what's happening around our

division and for people come

together and share ideas. Oh for

scraping together 11 people to ride

the tri-divisional bus a week before

Fall Rally. (You know, nbd). This child

never ceases to amaze me.

Marcy Higginbotham, Dobie - For

getting her brand new club

members to go all the way to Dallas

and experience Fall Rally! Hope you

guys had fun!

Everyone from REL - Thanks so much

for the posters, the tiny drinks, and all

your help during my FTC. I couldn't

have done it without you.

Robert E. Lee Ganders are

ferocious creatures.

Coming Up...

ALL CLUBS, read through everything. This is some good stuff right here.

3S/28 Social

Poor Bay City.

If you've ever bothered to look at a map of Division

28, you'll see there's an outlier known as Bay City

High School. Since they have to over two hours to

get to any event in Baytown or Clear Lake, I'm going

to be having my next PCM in closer to their area so

they can get involved in divisional stuff too!

The next PCM will be held as a joint social with

division 3S! That's right, yours truly is teaming up with

Jennifer Key Tuggle Hinze, the phenomenal LTG

you've heard so much about, for an afternoon at

Hermann Park in Sugarland on Saturday, October

21st. I'll be emailing out more details really soon.

Hopefully you guys can all make it to Sugarland and

finally meet these Bay City clubbers! Come for a

giant hill to roll down, a beautiful day, and delicious

warm food: the perfect afternoon with your K-family.

Deadlines!

Monthly Reports -

Oct 5 Secretary Monthly

reports for your September

antics are due October 5th!

Don't forget to include your FTC

attendance if your club went!

The task of the month is to

update your club's officer

contact information on the

district website. Ask me or D-

secretary Kevin Duong if you've

got any questions.

YOF - Oct 15 Got a

project? The due date for the

Youth Opportunity Fund

application is coming up in less

than two weeks! Find the

application on the T-O website.

Dues - Nov 16 Turning in

your dues is what makes your

club a Key Club! Be an early bird

and get 100 monthly reporting

points for turning in your dues

early! Send in $12.50 to

International for at least 15

members to:

Key Club International

Poor Bay

City.

The Didi Project Not sure what to do for your next service project? Here are some causes and events to

keep in mind.

Wait the what? The Didi Project is a scholarship for families who can't afford to send their

kids to the Westview School.

What counts as completing the divisional?

Volunteering. Aaaaand fundraising. That's pretty much it. Post on the Facebook page or shoot

me an email if you want to make sure something else counts.

Wristbands

Throughout the year, we'll be selling wristbands. Each club will need to tell me how many their

school would like to sell and I'll order enough for everyone in the division. Selling wristbands by

themselves, however, isn't very efficient, so I'm trying to think up an easy way to pair the

wristbands with some other thing, like baked goods. If you have any ideas, please let me know!

Walk Now for Autism Speaks

When: Saturday, October 13, 2012

8:00am - 12:00pm (everything before 10am is just ceremony, but be sure

to arrive before 10 to take advantage of free parking!)

Where: Reliant Park

What: Join Clear Lake High School Key Clubbers in an awareness walk for one of the biggest

autism awareness organizations in the country! Register at walknowforautismspeaks.org and join

the Westview School team. Fundraising is encouraged, but if you have friends that don't know

about autism in our community, bring them along just for the fun of it! Ask me if you have any

questions on how to register.

Why: Free water, music, and fun while getting your daily dose of healthy physical activity. All for

a great cause!

Didi Project Fair? This is a huge carnival thing that I'm going to be holding at Clear Lake

High School in January. It seems like a long ways off, but I'm planning stuff NOW. It's going to be

the biggest divisional fundraiser we'll be having this year. Stay tuned!

If you want to volunteer at a certain venue and have it count for autism, talk to me about it first.

Mainly because I'd want the rest of the division to know about it so as many people as possible

can come help out!

Beyond the Club

One of the best tihngs about Key Club is that it's so extensive. You're part of a gigantic K-family.

But you won't meet them just by sittin there! You have to go out and do things. Like the following:

K-family Interaction

Key Club is only the high school branch of the K-family! Our adult

counterports are called Kiwanis clubs, and yours is there to help you

fund your projects! Call them up and hold a joint social or work with

them on a fundraiser. You could invite them to a certain walkathon

at Reliant Park and have fun meeting them while raising

awareness for a good cause. If you don't know the contact

information of your Kiwanis club, talk to me and I'll hook you up.

Brothers Reaching Out

If you haven't heard about the Children's Miracle Network, you must be new.

This is a truly astounding network of hospitals that provides the best and latest

possible healthcare to any child who needs it, even if they have to do it for

free.

If you haven't gotten one already, message me if you want a Dance Marathon

committee application! Texas' first ever dance marathon will be held in

February and the Governor's Project Chairwoman, Jennifer Hinze, is going to

need a lot of help. Apply today!

Project Eliminate

Maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) is an easily-preventable

disease caused by poor access to sanitation and healthcare. Just

$1.80 pays for the volunteer and the vaccination that could save the life of a newborn infant.

Kiwanis International is partnering up with UNICEF to raise $110 million by the year 2015.

Complete the District Initiative for the next two years and receive both halves of the Eliminate

patch for your club.

Children: Their Future, Our Focus

By working with UNICEF, March of Dimes, and Children's Miracle Network, Kiwanis is challenging

all its clubs to make an international impact on the children of the world. Go online for service

project ideas to see how you can help serve the next generation.

What Happens in September...

Gets featured in this newsletter to be remembered forever.

Secretaries, don't forget!

Bringing stuff to the Divisional CMN drive

counted towards completing the Governor's

Project! We raised $84.78 in drive goods, which

you count under "Money Raised or Spent".

FALL RALLY

11 Key Clubbers from Sam Rayburn High School and 5 from Dobie High went to

Fall Rally on Saturday, September 29! They got to meet the amazing Jennifer

Key Tuggle Hinze from 3S, District Secretary Kevin Duong, and many others.

The widely-anticipated DCON theme was revealed by Governor Brian O'Hara.

to be... Haunted Mansion!

Thank you so much to Carlos Sotelo and Marcy Higginbotham for getting your

club members there! I couldn't get my Clear Lakers to budge for such a long

distance (and it turned out that I wasn't even allowed to go, which I feel awful

about), so you guys have earned my eternal respect.

FALL TRAINING CONFERENCE

Over 50 members from 7 clubs attended! Thank you

Sterling, GCM, Ball, Sam Rayburn, BCA, Lake so much for

coming and of course Lee High School for hosting the

event! I hope you all had fun and are making good use of

the resource folders you all got.

By the way, if you missed the FTC (or left early or I

accidentally took yours home) (...sorry Ball and Lee Dx)

you're missing your resource folder and training and

updates and lots of things! Ahh! Talk to me ASAP if you're

from La Marque, Pasadena, Barbers Hill, Texas City, Dobie,

or Bay City about me coming to visit your clubs!

A NEW ADDITION TO DIVISION 28

This month, Dobie Key Club was

officially chartered! Welcome

Marcy Higginbotham among our

presidents and Ms. Carrizal among

our sponsors. They're already off

to a great start and have already

done service projects and sent

people to Fall Rally. This is going to

be an awesome year. I can't wait

for everyone to meet!
