My name is Claire O’Shea (Owner and Principal at Dance Energy Studios) and I’m here to give you all the information you need to integrate into our fun-filled little family. So let’s get started.
Location Short and sweet. You can find us at two convenient locations on the Sunshine Coast: - Caloundra Headquarters - Bulcock St, Caloundra - Talara Primary College - Talara St, Currimundi Studio Space At Caloundra HQ, our state-of-the-art studios are designed for maximum impact. Full-length mirrors. Sprung floors. Ballet barres in every studio. We want to give every student the tools they need to succeed. And for all the moments in between, we have a student lounge at our headquarters as well as 2 parent waiting arears. Our classes at Talara are held in the Talara Primary College’s Sports Hall at the front of the school. Other Resources Choosing a studio is a big deal and we know you may have a couple of niggling questions about class times, fees, uniforms and more. Our 2019 Information Guide is designed to give you all the details you need to answer those little questions. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to email us at [email protected] or give us a ring on 07 5491 9151 or 0404 303 757. We’re always happy to hear from our families!
Our Mission At Dance Energy Studios, we want to give every child an outstanding experience, every time they walk through our doors. Our aim is to help each student foster a deep passion and love for dance by creating a safe and supportive space where they can explore the art of self-expression through movement. While enjoyment is the name of the game, hard- work is an important prerequisite.
Thanks for joining our Dance Energy Family and we’ll see you soon! Love, Miss Claire & The Dance Energy Team xx

Concert Costume CostsTo keep costs manageable for parents at the end of the year, we have a set costume cost which is split up for parents over Term 1, 2 & 3. Concert permission notes will be sent out first to determine which students will be participating before costumes are purchased. For students not wanting or unable to attend, this amount will either be credited off Term 4 fees or refunded into your account. This is to avoid any lump sum payments at the end of the year for the concert. Costume deposits will charged in Term 1, 2 & 3 as listed in the Fee Structure below.
Costume Fee
• Sapphire/Ruby/Diamond $28 (in term 1, 2 & 3) – per class • Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum $30 (in term 1, 2 & 3) – per class • Silver/Gold/Platinum Ballet $35 (in term 1, 2 & 3) – one class only (students are

Dance Styles
Classical Ballet
Students are able to take ballet as a stand-alone class. For Silver Medal & above two classes must be taken per week. Ballet is a wonderful form of exercise and an opportunity to develop many skills necessary in life. The study of ballet helps in the development of self-confidence as well as many other benefits including in-creased flexibility, better posture, toning and strengthening of muscles, sweating out tox-ins, and many more. Whether you are looking for an after-school activity for your child, or a way to get some exercise, ballet has many benefits for both boys and girls of any age. Classes start from a pre-ballet level for children aged 3 and up (Petite Performers). Ballet classes are also offered as part of our Energy Academy.
Jazz Available from Year 1 and up, Jazz offers a technical base for every dancer that aids flexi-bility, posture and strength. With up to the minute choreography and syllabus work, the ATOD jazz syllabus is a fun way to learn jazz as well as prepare students for the dance in-dustry. The new and innovative A.T.O.D jazz moves syllabus encompasses many styles such as Broadway, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Funk and Lyrical to name a few. Jazz is also of-fered as a part of our Energy Academy classes.
Tap Tapping is a fantastic way for your children to learn rhythm, musicality and make music with their feet. Classes progress in a way that allows skills to be slowly built upon from level to level. Tap is offered as a class from Year 1 and up.
Hip Hop
A more freestyle form of dance, Hip Hop is an arena for dancers from the ages of 2.5 (Pe-tite Performers) and different experience to incorporate their own style and flavour. With this in mind, there is still a focus on correct technique including body placement and alignment. This is complimented with our Hip Hop Teacher’s up to the minute choreogra-phy. Elements of syllabus work is included to provide skill development and structure throughout the term.
Contemporary/Lyrical Contemporary is a great way to support children's development in other genres of dance as well. Contemporary dance uses the body's natural lines and energy to create new move-ments, which have a greater range and fluidity than conventional dance. Lyrical dance is a style of dance created from the fusion of ballet with jazz and contemporary dance tech-niques and is a "cousin" to those styles. Lyrical dancing is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics in the chosen song. Contemporary/Lyrical is available for students in Ruby level & above.
Acrobatics If your child is constantly cartwheeling, doing tumbles and handstands then this is the class for them! Depending on age, students could stay in the same level for one or a num-ber of years. Students will increase difficulty level & skill work each year. Age group is a starting point for all students. We are then able to evaluate and move them to the most appropriate class. With a focus on strength and stretch as well as floor acrobatics, this dance style will suit those with explosive amounts of energy. Acrobatics will teach your children a variety of skills including cartwheels, back arches, splits and handstands. This could eventually include more difficult skills including walkovers, round offs, handsprings, tumbling and aerials. A combination of solo, group and partner work will be included.
Broadway Broadway is a form of dance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The story and emotional content of the piece plays an important role in this class. If your child has a flair for the dramatic, then this is the class for them!
Adult DanceWe have regular classes from week to week in the styles of Contemporary, & Jazz. Work-shops will be held every term in a variety of styles including Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap, Lyrical & Ballroom.
Performance Squads This is a fun opportunity for students to participate in more performance opportunities throughout the year. We select family friendly competitions only that we believe are fun & stress-free. Students are required to commit to weekly classes as well as 3 – 4 perfor-mances per year. For further information, please see our ‘Performance Squad’ Information section.
Company Troupe Interested in taking your performance skills to the next level? And do you love to perform on stage? In 2019 we are launching our Company Troupe! An application only group for students wanting to take it to the NEXT LEVEL!
