Callie Kohlwes tossed a no-hitter and fanned five in the win. Rylee Purvis had two hits, three runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases to lead the Royals. Jenna Hill added two hits and three RBI and Gracie Ket- twig also had a pair of hits and RBI. South Hardin 11, CN 1 The Royal defense com- mitted five errors and fell, 11-1, to South Hardin. Hill, Puvis, Abigail Hostetler and Hannah Star- ling had one hit apiece in the loss. Purvis and Kohlwes combined innings on the mound and allowed nine hits, seven earned runs, fanned six and walked three. Colo-NESCO committed six errors defensively and junior pitcher Loran Nicholson threw a no-hitter for the Trojans. Renae Schaper had two hits, two RBI and scored three times, while fellow senior Morgan Cripps added a pair of hits and RBI. Kalyn Polley chipped in two hits. Rylee Purvis took the loss in the circle for the Royals and Kohlwes came on in relief. The duo al- lowed six earned runs on eight hits and finished with two K’s and one walk. The Trojans are now 8-7 on the season and the Roy- als fall to 5-11 on the sea- son. North Tama 9, CN 3 Colo-NESCO started strong with three runs in the first inning, but North Tama answered back with four in the second to take the lead for good in their, 9-3, Iowa Star win over the Royals. The Royals were kept off balance all night by Red- hawk pitching, who recorded 18 strikeouts on the night. Ephram Muntz had a two-RBI single for the Royals. Shawn Gilbert pitched the entire six innings and allowed four earned runs on eight hits, fanned seven and walked two. Twin Cedars 13, CN 3 The Royals were de- feated in non-conference action, 13-3, by Twin Cedars. Kenny Cutler had an RBI single for the Royals, while Spencer Hansen, Gilbert, Lucas Frohwein and Trevor Burg all had one hit apiece. Hansen, Cutler, Brighton Clatt and Burg all saw time on the hill for Colo- NESCO. The group com- bined to give up 13 hits, eight earned runs, walk seven and fan three in 4 ⅔ innings of work. South Hardin 18, CN 3 It was all South Hardin all night as they scored six runs in the second, seven in the third and five in the fourth to end things early, 18-3, over Colo-NESCO. The Royals had seven hits by seven different players with Burg being credited with a double. Hansen, Cutler, Drew Banks, Burg and Jack McKinney combined on the hill to allow seven earned runs on 14 hits, while walking 12 and fan- ning two. Madrid 10, CN 1 In Class 1A, Substate 2 baseball action Madrid handed the Royals a, 10-1, setback and ended their season in the first round. The Royal offense man- aged just two hits, one each by Cutler and Kaleb Gray. Clatt went the distance on the hill and allowed 11 hits, four earned runs, walked five and fanned two in six innings of work. The Royals finish the season 4-11 and lose three seniors to graduation in Clatt, Gilbert and McKin- ney. Royals baseball season comes to a close Grinnell 12, WM 2 Grinnell pitching fanned the Trojans 11 times and handed West Marshall a, 12-2, non-conference set- back. Kaden Davis and Ryan Reyerson each had a dou- ble in the loss. Clay Cuva allowed two hits, three earned runs and walked two, while Jeremy Sly gave-up seven hits, four earned runs, walked five and fanned a pair. North Polk 13, WM 12 North Polk scored the winning run in the top of the seventh to defeat WM, 13-12. Brayden Evertsen had a double and home run and finished with an impressive seven RBI in the game. Kinnick Christensen went 3-4 with three runs scored and Davis added two hits, three runs and three RBI. Four pitchers saw time on the hill for the black and gold - Peyton Hart, Chris- tensen, Will Dawley (L) and Antonio McKinney. Those four combined to allow five earned runs on eight hits, fan one and walk 13 Comet batters. Don Bosco 13, WM 7 The Trojans finished the regular season with a, 13-7, loss at the hands of Don Bosco. Offensively, Gabe Jones hit a home run and Dru Wilder had a double and three RBI. Cuva, Jones, McKinney and Wilder (L) combined to give up 11 hits, 12 earned runs, 13 walks and two K”s. The Class 2A first round tournament game against Colfax-Mingo that was scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to weather. Loran Nicholson allowed seven hits, fanned five and walked three in the NICL West contest. Carlisle 12, WM 0 Freshmen pitcher Made- line Karsjen had a tough task in her varsity debut. Karsjen and the Trojans faced Class 4A #1 Carlisle and were shut out, 12-0, in three innings. Karsjen allowed six hits, nine earned runs and walked five in the loss. Kalyn Polley had the only Trojan hit. Boone 15, WM 0 The Boone softball squad held the Trojans scoreless for the second night in a row, defeating them, 15-0, in six innings. Nicholson allowed 14 hits, 11 earned runs, walked three and had one K in tak- ing the loss. Clara Dee had the lone Trojan hit. As they prepare for tour- nament play, the Trojans are now 8-7 on the season. When all was said and done, West Marshall defeated Colfax-Mingo, 13-3, in six in- nings to advance to play Des Moines Christian on Tuesday, July 14th in Story City. The game was highlighted by two three-run home runs by the Trojans. Kaden Davis hit his first of the season in the first inning and finished 3-4 on the night. Pitcher Kinnick Christensen helped his own cause with a three run blast in the sixth. Christensen finished with two hits, two runs and four RBI. More Trojan offense came from Jeremy Sly, who had two hits, two runs and two RBI and eighth-grader Clay Cuva, who had two hits, including a double. On the hill, Christensen al- lowed seven hits and walked a pair. Results from Tuesday’s game will be in next week’s Enterprise. Home runs lift Trojans past CM
