On Tuesday many of us are watching out from the computer and radio for the ultimate decision of the three independent members as on which side of the politic are they going to bank with. It was a long wait of 17 days and we had seen how politicians behaved so differently in pursuing for the power throne. With so much uncertainty in the election outcome, the independents were testing the water by putting up their respective criteria, yet they did not want to go too far in case they could not make it and could get teased. The Labor Party rushed to solicit their support to form government, in contrary to the Liberal Party’s inclination to wait and see how the vote counting finally settled.

As the position became clearer, the Greens and the Tasmanian independent announced their support for the Labor. Tasmanian Andrew Wikie’s integrity was doubted as he at first made a big demand to the Opposition for new hospitals but then accept just one third of the funding from Labor. The public was unhappy too with the three former National Party members who were sluggish in taking side during the prolong negotiation process. Many even started to favour a re-election. Meanwhile both Gillard and Abbott stood up as serious leaders in securing the support form the independents and the public for their respective party. They had been working so hard on this throughout the 17-day period.

Some people ask what type of leaders do we need in our society these days? In this of our 6th Anniversary edition we have an interview with an Australian born world-class leader – General Eva Burrows of Salvation Army. She was born in Queensland and left home since the age of 21 for serving people around the world, until she came back home after 31 years for taking charge of the Salvation Army here. In her course of upholding social justice she had special care for women and the unemployed in needs. Commended by society leaders, she had been awarded the Order of Australia. Since then she had been appointed as the worldwide General of Salvation Army taking charge of social services over 80 countries around the world.

I was astonished to know such a distinguished leader at her age of 81 is still paying weekly visits to the homeless in the city area for delivering their daily provisions. In our 6th anniversary issue I am proud to share with all our readers a cover story on such a remarkable leader. Hope you would enjoy reading it.

Kua Fu Chases the SunIn the ancient myths, there was a holy man, called Kua Fu. As the legend goes, one day, he suddenly came up with an idea: he wanted to race the sun, see who can run faster. So he kept running in the direction of the sun, chasing it down. He was roasted by the sun till his mouth was dry and his tongue parched, and nearly could not go on. At that moment, he coincidentally ran between the Yellow River and the Wei waters. He opened his mouth, very quickly drank both rivers dry. But he was still extremely thirsty, until finally, he died of thirst in his journey to chase the sun down.
