First Meeting of IGBC Mumbai Chapter held in Mumbai T he Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), with the sup- port of all the stakeholders is making rapid strides in Greening the construction industry Till date, there are over 1,500 registered Green Buildings coming up in the country with a green building foot print of over 1 09 Billion sq ft. To further spearhead the Green building movement in the country, IGBC has formed 12 Chapters all across the Country (Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Goa, Hyder- abad, Kolkata, Kochi, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune & Vadodra) with 3 more to be launched later this year at Jaipur, Chandi- garh & Bhubaneswar The chapters work with an agenda : To have faster penetration & reach To reach out to wider section of stakeholders Reach out to Non corporate & individuals Involve local agencies and Institutions in the Green Build- ing Movement The IGBC Mumbai Chapter under the able leadership of Mr Ravi Raheja, Chairman – IGBC Mumbai Chapter & Managing Director – K Raheja Corp and Mr Gurmeet Singh Arora, Vice Chair – IGBC Mumbai Chapter, Managing Director – Rajco Metals is one of the most active & vibrant Chapters of IGBC with 300 + members who are committed to contribute to reach out IGBC’s vision at City level As a part of the Chapter activity the Mumbai Chapter met at CII – Naoroji Godrej Centre of Excellence on 29th February 2012 with the following agenda: Update on IGBC Green Movement (Scorecard) in Mum- bai by Mr Gurmeet Singh Arora, Vice Chairman, IGBC Mumbai Chapter Future Course of Action & Update on IGBC Mumbai Chapter activities by Mr Gurmit Singh Arora, Vice Chair- man, IGBC MC along with Membership Drive by Mr Jah- angir Yar Khan, Senior VP (Projects), Shree Ram Urban Infrastructure Ltd , Training & Seminars by Mr Shabbir Kanchwala, VP, K Raheja Corp , Student Chapters by Architect Sandeep Shikre, Sandeep Shikre & Associa- tion, Green Governance by Ms Mala Singh, CEO, PEC Solutions and Media & Publicity by Mr V Suresh, Prin- ciple Executive Officer, Hirco Development Pvt Ltd Deliberation of ‘Oath’ for Core Committee Member of the IGBC Mumbai Chapter Apart from the above set of activities the Chapter also had very interesting & interactive Case study presentation on the following a. Case Study : Hospital Going Green : Kohinoor Hospital by Architect Sandeep Shikre, Managing Director, M/s Sandeep Shikre & Associates b. Case Study : Green Homes / Buildings – A Real Need for Sustainable Development by Ms Mala Singh, CEO, M/s PEC Solutions c. Case Study: On Green Township at Panvel by HIRCO by Mr S Deodhar, Associate Vice President - Projects, Hirco Development Pvt Ltd d. Glass for Green Buildings by Mr Vijay Bhan Singh, Se- nior Manager, Saint Gobain Glass India e. Light weight construction technologies - Helping to build a sustainable future by Mr Ashutosh Puranik, Sr Product Manager, Saint Gobain Gyproc India Ltd All the presentations were well perceived & the meeting was well attended by almost a Hundred people from various sectors of industry. First Meeting of IGBC Mumbai Chapter held in Mumbai
