Children’s Quote of the Month:Children’s Quote of the Month:“I was just having so much fun!”
Your Family...Your Family...November is often the time we focus on gratefulness for all we have been given.
Please allow me to say “THANK YOU” for your openness and support in fulfillingthe mission of our Christian Education programs: to create and nourish an excitementfor life-long learning about Jesus Christ and His church. Please take a moment to enjoy a story that reveals just how excited children are about Jesus Christ and His church...A young child needed to leave the Sunday School class a bit early one day. He
and his dad were walking out of the room and into an empty hallway. I was fortunate to turn the corner at just the right time and to hear this comment: “I was just having so much fun!” He went on totell his father about all the activities he had done and the story he had learned that morning, all as hewas grinning and bouncing down the hall with his father. So much was said about Holy Cross in theword and actions of this small child – he felt comfortable, he felt happy, and he felt welcomed atSunday School. Thank you for your support of this ministry.

Looking for a great Christmas gift?
How about a new book written by Tom Roberts entitled,
“The Little Lost Sock”?“The Little Lost Sock”?
A simple yet poignant story of hope, the power of faith, and how true friendship can make a positive difference in the life of another. This latest story by Mr. Roberts is a poetic fable about a lonely misplaced sock
searching for purpose. After an unsuccessful attempt to receive help from other lost souls, the sock finds meaning through friendship with a book – a very special book!
The author will be visiting Holy Cross during worship services to read & signhis new book the weekend fo December 10 & 11.
All proceeds will benefit Children’s Home Society of SD.Also for sale will be Mr. Robert’s previous books “Santa’s Prayer” and “‘Twas the Night Before Christ.”
Plan to attend classes at 5:30-6:30pm, then stay for Soup Supper in the Fellowship Hall and Worship at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary.

WWHATHAT DDOESOES IITT TTAKEAKE TOTO BBUILDUILD AA CCHURCHHURCH LL IBRARYIBRARY??IT TAKES PLANNING TO BUILD A CHURCH LIBRARY — no matter how big or small.
The Adult Ed Team has created policies and procedures in its mission to “provide a repository ofmaterials intended to nurture the Christian faith of members and friends of Holy Cross LutheranChurch.” To this end, print materials are selected to:
1) Be consistent with our Lutheran identity and Lutheran Confessions;2) Strengthen the education programs of the church and aid in Bible study;3) Empower individuals and families to grow in their understanding of being in relationship with God and with one another;
4) Help children and youth in their faith development;5) Inform about social issues of the times;6) Aid all ages in the wholesome use of leisure time;7) Facilitate the communication of congregational/synodical information; and8) Provide practical resources for parents, grandparents, godparents and the entire family.
With these policies in place, the Adult Ed Team is asking for your support. Through book donationsand financial gifts, the team can move forward in creating the library that meets the needs of our unique congregation and community. Donations of material are accepted with the understanding thatthe team will use their discretion in placement of the material. If the Library declines donated materials, the donor has the choice of keeping the item(s) or giving them to the church to be donatedelsewhere and/or possibly sold at a book sale.It is the team’s goal to have the library fully “stocked” and ready for use when the 2012 budget
is in place, shortly after the first of the year. If you have questions or wish to make book donations, please contact Angie Smith or a member of the Adult Education Team (Pam Strohm, Chair).
If you or a loved one is hospitalized – in any of the local hospitals –please contact the church office.
If you would like a visit from one of the pastors, be sure to inform the office staff when you call.
In addition, members of the Visitation Team are available Monday–Friday. Please be sure that “Holy Cross” is listed in your patient information
so that when phone calls are made to the hospitals, the Visitation Teammember(s) will know that you have been hospitalized.

Just a Few Words...Just a Few Words...
Grace to you and peace! The past thirty days has offered me time to pause and ponder upon the multitude of
transforming experiences we shared through the years. Indeed God is good!Indeed God is good! The mission and ministry woven by the Holy Spirit working in and through Staff and
leadership has and will forever be the guiding light upon which this congregation is led.Words are not enough to express how honored and blessed I am to have been yourpastor. When I close my eyes and recall the shape of ministry 11 and 1/2 years ago andwere we are today...WOW...the “transforming power of the Holy Spirit” has been active(to say the least)! Looking into God’s future bodes well for Holy Cross! I can’t imaginethe foundational couture of the ministry to come. Indeed God is good!Indeed God is good!Reflecting back to my farewell worship services, there are so many people and
reasons to which I extend my sincere “thank you”: The beautiful flowers adorning the altar The congregational signing of the “Reverend” Dr. Seuss’ book “Oh, the Places...” The worship experience at each service with their own unique “touch”... The farewell and celebration video humbling and “embarrassing” at the same time!!! The laying on of hands as a sending, presided over by Susan Marone on behalf of the South Dakota Synod
The “Litany of Farewell” offered by Reverend Dr. Richard Swanson The multitude of banana cream pies shared by and with the congregation The cards, gifts and expressions of love both physical and by word-of-mouth were emotionally packed...
The gift of time-away offered by Team Leadership ...and last, but certainly not least, the Staff, leadership and various team membersand individuals who gave of their time and talents to create a celebratory venue to express gratitude to God for the ministry we’ve shared!
I’m certain to have forgotten someone or something to thank – please know I’m emotionally moved and eternallygrateful for everything each of you havedone for me and my awesome family. You have my ongoing thoughts andprayers as ministry evolves and is shapedby the hand of God working through themembers and friends of Holy CrossLutheran Church!
Peace to you!Pastor Tim– Psalm 121 –

November is a month we take time to step back and think of things we are thankful for.
We will soon be talking about Thanskgiving and what it means to be thankful.
To get an early start, I asked the Preschool Extended-Care children
what things they are thankful for.The things kids say... Priceless!!! ☺ Enjoy!
