McAuley News Welcome to the 2021 School Year at McAuley Community School. It is wonderful to be back and so beautiful to see the many smiling faces of our school community again; I sure did miss you. We especially welcome the learners and families who have joined our community for the very first time throughout Years 1 – 6 and of course our new Receptions. We are so proud of how everyone has settled into the routine of school. It certainly has been a smooth start to the year. McAuley Community School’s motto is A Place to Thrive.’ To work alongside this, we have our theme for 2021 is A Place to Grow.’ Our school leaders explained this beautifully at our first assembly on Monday. They said: “For all of us this year, this means to: - put your best foot forward and be the best you can - celebrate your individual passions - discover the world we live in and how we can make it better - connect with our community and grow in faith. As your leaders this year, we are really excited to support you in your journey of growth.” The language of the Mercy Keys continue to be a focus for us. Everyday, the school community is asked to bring, in their hearts, the Mercy Keys of Respect, Compassion, Gratitude, Courage and Creativity. Everything we do at McAuley is built around these 5 important Mercy words. More importantly than just knowing these words, is the way we bring these words alive through our actions and choices. We have the privilege of seeing these Keys in action everyday. We are very excited to be able to invite families into the school again and are so hopeful this year enables us to build our sense of community. Our school calendar is available via the event tab on the SkoolBag App. This is a live calendar and is continually updated, so please check it regularly. In addition to this, and attached to this week’s McAuley News, is our Term 1 Calendar. This calendar will be sent home at the beginning of each term for you to print and pop on your fridge. As a school leadership team we are very excited about the year ahead. Learning opportunities, challenges and experiences will be provided to all our learners. McAuley Community School will be a place to thrive and will be a place to grow.
