Oversee all paper outlines

Create cohesive structures for all visual communication papers

Assist staff in writing of paper outlines and assignment briefs

Organise teaching and learning workshops for all ICD staff

Present latest teaching innovations to Vice Chancellor’sTeaching Symposiums

Other roles

Quality Assurance Committee (ICD)

This committee meets to look at student results, makingrecommendations relating to student impairment,aegrotats, impaired learning. All staff have to writesummative statements about how well each paper delivery went and the committee will offer suggestions for improveddelivery.

Teaching and Learning Committee (Massey wide)

Service on this committee involves assisting Massey strategic initatives relating to the provision of ”an exceptional, distinctiveand high quality learning experience for all students” (Termsof reference). The committee advises and assists the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) on all mattersrelating to the promotion of teaching excellence.

Human Ethics Committee (Massey wide)

This committee meets to discuss ethical issues surrounding Massey staff and student applications to carry out human participant research. Each application is carefully assessed as to its potential impact on human participants following Massey’s code of ethics.

(FIET) Fund for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching Committee (Massey wide)

This committee provides funding to teachers who present written proposals which have a likelihood of leading to enhanced teaching and learning through the use of innovative teaching methods. Funding is given for teaching release or, in some instances for the purchase of items of technology such as software which, the applicants argue can lead to enhanced student learning. Blue sky ideas are also funded in certain instances.

Applied Learning reference group (Massey wide)

Applied learning is now part of Massey’s strategic plan to incorporate real world learning opportunities for students by devising project which enable students to work directly withindustry. The reference group’s role is to provide the applied learning committee with good practice examples, feedbackand suggestions as to how this new strategic initiative can best be implemented.

Assessment reference group (Massey wide)

The assessment reference group’s role was to write upMassey’s formal description of the role of formativeand summative assessment.

Admin guide template review group(Massey wide)

The role of this group was to devise a template structurefor Massey’s Stream delivery (Moodle) to ensure a standardUniversity wide digital interface structure for all papers.
