We are Easter people...

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the McAuley family a happy and

holy Easter.

I do hope as a family you got to experience and remember the suffering and pain

as well as the jubilation in the Resurrection during the Parish Easter

celebrations. Obviously it is easy for children to focus on Easter Eggs and the

parties. However it is our responsibility as Catholics to make sure they are aware

of the powerful story of Easter. It is truly the greatest time for our Church.

During Lent the children were constantly challenged to think about their lives

and think of things that they need to change. At the combined Parish Mass for

Catholic Schools week Fr Greg linked it to the gospel of the day by challenging

us to let Jesus into how hearts to discover what tables he would over turn (things

in our lives that we need to change).

On Holy Thursday the children took part in a powerful Liturgy that highlighted

the Passion of Jesus.

Tuesday morning the school visited the church to discover that Jesus had risen in

a powerful Liturgy. The day was then filled with fun activities, joy and

laughter. The children made Easter hats and paraded in front of the whole school

and many parents and grandparents. It was a great day of celebration to

acknowledge the risen Jesus.

The Easter season lasts for 40 days until the Ascension. I attended Mass outside

the Parish on Easter Sunday and the Priest told us that every morning when we

stir and wake it is like experiencing the new life of the risen Jesus. He suggested

we make the sign of the cross and thank God for each day before we get out of

bed.

Steve Maguire

If a prudent, cautious

beginning is made, there is

every prospect of success.

McAuley School Rules

Faith: God’s rules are: 1. Love God 2. Love others - treat others how you want them to treat you.

BE RESPECTFUL - BE RESPONSIBLE - BE SAFE

FOCUS FOR THE FORTNIGHT:

We are responsible and safe on the playground.

This focus is very important for the safety of all. The majority of the incidents at McAuley occur on the

playground, usually when there is not a teacher nearby. If all students act responsibly and safely on our

playground these incidents would not occur. It is up to the children to act and play appropriately on the

playground. If parents are concerned about any occurrences on the playground they should contact their child’s

class teacher and the incident will be investigated and action taken. If necessary an executive member will be

involved.

From the Religious Education Coordinator

Easter: I hope everyone had a very happy Easter, and didn’t eat too much chocolate! Easter Sunday is such a

wonderful celebration. After all the sadness and reflection of Lent and Holy Week, we are able to look forward

with such great hope to our future. Even though we celebrate these events every year, we are at a different place

in our lives each time. By embracing the Easter Story, we have a wonderful opportunity to be nurtured by God,

and re-connect with what is really important in life. I hope Easter this year brought great joy and “new life” to

you and your family.

Children’s Stations of the Cross: If you were able to join us last Thursday for our Stations of the Cross, I’m sure

you would be as amazed as I was, at both the clever and creative photos that made up our presentation of Jesus’

final journey to His Crucifixion. A very big “thank you” to all Staff and Students on this wonderful effort. I’m

sure this amazing presentation helped many to truly walk with Jesus, and was a wonderful way to start the Holy

Week Tridium. Yesterday morning we gathered to witness the final Station – the Resurrection, beautifully

presented by Year 6. Thank you to all parents and family members who were able to join us either last Thursday

or Tuesday as we reflected on Jesus’ Passion and joyfully celebrated His Resurrection. It was lovely to have you

with us. This brought a lovely conclusion to our Easter Celebrations.

Project Compassion: It is time to return our Project Compassion boxes, and I thank you on behalf of Caritas for

your wonderful generosity towards those less fortunate than ourselves. With your help, we really will be able to

support ‘a just future’ for those who so desperately need our support. If you have your boxes at home, could I

ask that these be returned before the end of this term, so that we are able to forward on the money to Caritas

Australia to continue their wonderful work. Thank you once again for your continued support.

Sacramental Program 2018: The first Sacrament we will be celebrating this year is First Holy Communion.

This will take place at the Parish Masses on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd June 2018. The Parent Meeting for

First Communion will be next week: Wednesday, 11th April at 9.30am in Kenna Hall, and repeated on

Thursday 12th April at 7pm in Kenna Hall. (You only have to attend one of these meetings) If you have a

child in Year 3 or older and you wish them to receive this Sacrament, it is important that you attend this meeting,

and should have already had a meeting with one of the priests. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Wishing you a great week,

God Bless,

Robyn Petty

Almighty God,

by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ,

you have broken the power of death

and brought life and immortality to light;

grant that we who have been raised with him

may rejoice in the hope of eternal glory;

through him who lives and reigns with you

and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever.

Amen.

Harmony Day

The below display of children's work was in the Orange City Library for Harmony Day. Many children from

Catherine McAuley went in the competition illustrating the importance of harmony between cultures.

Congratulations to Juliyat Jojo who won first prize and Charlotte Collins who came third.

The children's paintings will now be sent to the state competition to be judged by the Harmony Day organisers!

Good luck to all the wonderful artists from infants and primary classes.
