Kindergarten 2019: IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS A CHILD STARTING KINDERGARTEN NEXT
YEAR 2019 PLEASE TELL THEM TO COME IN AND PICK UP AN ENROLMENT FORM OR TO
CONTACT THE SCHOOL on 63613344. THERE ARE ALSO LIMITED SPACES IN OTHER GRADES. As
part of the enrolment procedure for Kindergarten 2019 the children and their parents will attend an interview and
have a look around our school. These interviews have commenced. It is very exciting to welcome new families
and children into the McAuley community. All families are very impressed with our wonderful new learning
spaces and the Protected Learning Time. As I take families around our school I cannot help but be proud of the
dedicated, professional teachers and the welcoming, friendly students. McAuley is a great place to be with our
focus on learning, great learning spaces and sense of community.
ICAS Tests: A note has been sent out asking for children who would like to take part in the Mathematics and
English ICAS tests this year. The note asks children to nominate and pay for these tests by the 15th June if they
wish to take part.
Before & After School Care at McAuley: We are still waiting for the official approval and a start date for Before
& After School Care at McAuley. However please find an advertisement from CENTACARE asking for staff to
run our Before and After School Care. Any parents or friends of McAuley interested in these positions should
take note of the advertisement in the following pages of this Newsletter.
Diocesan Spelling Bee: We wish our finalist the best of luck when they travel to Wellington on Thursday to
compete in the Bathurst Diocesan Spelling Bee.
Stage 2: Archie Adamson and Jayden Jamon
Stage 3: Euhanna Ramos and Angel Tom.
Thank you to our Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 teachers for running the McAuley Spelling Bees at school
particularly Mrs Bettinzoli for coordinating the school Spelling Bees and travelling to Wellington on Thursday to
support our finalists.
From the Assistant Principal
McAuley School Rules
BE RESPECTFUL - BE RESPONSIBLE - BE SAFE
FOCUS FOR THE FORTNIGHT: By using appropriate language we are respectful and responsible to
others and ourselves.
It is important that we all use appropriate language for the setting we are in. At McAuley we have high
expectations that children, staff, parents and friends use appropriate language at all times. At times an
inappropriate word may slip out however there is no place for children to swear at or use derogatory language
toward another person at McAuley. We show that we have pride in ourselves, our families and our school by
using appropriate language at all times.
Out of Bounds: Occasionally balls will be kicked or thrown over the fences surrounding the playground. Children
are not permitted to leave the school grounds to get a ball. If a teacher has time they may be able to retrieve it
otherwise parents can go and ask the neighbours if they can retrieve it after school. Often the neighbours will
throw balls back over the fence or return them.
Technology at School: A reminder that students are not to have mobile phones, ipods and other technology at
school. If it is necessary, that they bring such a device then it is to be given to the class teacher at the beginning of
the day and collected at the conclusion of school. Important messages can be delivered via the school office.

This is My Body
This is My Blood,
Do this in memory of Me.
Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ: Last weekend we celebrated the feast of the Blessed Trinity, and this
weekend we come to the end of the major feasts for this Liturgical year, with the celebration of the Feast of
the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). This feast commemorates what is central to all Christianity –
the Eucharist. Each time Mass is celebrated, we re-enact what Jesus did at his Last Supper. The words used
today are the very same words that have been used in the Church for two thousand years. May our Eucharist
this weekend really help us to be one with Christ.
First Holy Communion: It is fitting that we celebrate First Holy Communion this weekend on the Feast of
the very First Eucharist. Our Year 3 students have been working hard to prepare for this very special moment
in their lives, and we congratulate them and their teachers for all the work they have put into this preparation.
The children will receive the Sacrament at all Parish Masses on this weekend and I ask that you keep them in
your prayers as they take this next step in their Faith journey.
Confirmation: With the children in Year 3 receiving their First Communion this weekend, we now look
towards our Year 6 students who will make their Confirmation early next term on the weekend of 4/5 August.
There will be two Parent Meetings for Confirmation, one on Wednesday, 13th June at 9.30am in Kenna Hall
and a repeat of this meeting on Thursday, 14th June at 7.00pm in Kenna Hall. This is to give parents a choice
of meeting times depending on their circumstances. It is very important that all parents of Confirmation
Candidates attend one of these meetings.
Parish Mass Celebration: The McAuley School Community has been invited to assist with the Parish Mass
on Sunday, 17th June at St Joseph’s Church at 5.00pm. We will be responsible for providing the music and
helping with some of the different ministries throughout the Mass. A note will be going home next week
asking if you would be able to attend this Mass. This is for the purpose of giving students opportunities to
take on the various ministries. Unlike School masses, there are only a few ministries our students can perform
in a Parish Mass, so if you are able to attend could you please return the slip indicating this so I am able to
offer these to students who will be in attendance. Each time we support Parish Masses as a School
Community, have been beautiful and once again I encourage all families to consider attending this Mass.
Liturgies For This Term: Our next Whole School Celebration will be our First Communion Thanksgiving
Mass next Wednesday 7th June at 9.30am. This will be followed by a little party in Kenna Hall for all our
students who have received their First Communion. Parents and families are welcome to come to the Hall for
a ‘cuppa’ and join us for the ‘Cutting of the Cake’. We always look forward to having family and friends join
us at all our Masses and Liturgies.
Wishing you a great week ahead,
Robyn Petty
