Volgensdie register isdaarnogdrieblankeleerlingenádiemaseseunwiese laataansoe-keookafgekeurisweensdie feitdatdieklassevol is.

Intussensêdiemadathaarseunbyvriendein Gordonsbaai bly, waar hy steeds skool-gaan.

Amphitheatreconcept scrappedCILENE BEKKER

The amphitheatre concept at Piet seBos at Grotto beach, which had Voël-klip residents and homeowners hotunder the collar, is no longer on thecards.

According to a statement released bythe Overstrand Municipality on Tues-day, ‘the amphitheatre concept will notbe entertained further’.

At the public meeting on 18 Januarytodiscuss thedevelopmentproposals forGrotto beach, which included a doublestorey restaurant and an amphitheatre, the vast majority of the attendees werenot supportive of the proposed amphi-theatre, as reported in the article ‘NO!to Grotto amphitheatre’ published in the23/01/2014 issue of Hermanus Times.

People who reside around Kirsten-bosch in Cape Town highlighted exces-sive noise pollution from the outdoortheatre. Also, should classical musicconcerts be held, the music will not beaudible due to the noise generated bywave action.

On consideration of these viewpoints, the municipality says in its release thatit is clear from the first hand experienceof those who live in close proximity toan amphitheatre elsewhere, that theproposed amphitheatre will not add val-ue to the residents and/or the communi-ty.

As for the proposed double storey res-taurant on the footprint of the old Nau-tilus (that burnt downyears ago) thema-jority of attendees had felt that the siteof the existing eatery, Dutchies, shouldbe upgraded to fulfil the function of arestaurant and that there would be noneed for the oldNautilus to be resurrect-ed.

The municipality, however, says theproposed restaurant and kiosk facilitieswill be established on the old Nautilussite, but that the structure will be down-scaled in terms of height to a flat roofstructure and elevated on stilts to makeprovision for possible erosion activi-ties.

They add that this proposed activitydoes not require a Basic Assessment Re-port (BAR), since it commenced before1998 and this aspect was clarified withthe Department of Environmental Af-

fairs and Development Planning.Neil Hoogenhout, one of the conven-

ors of the Grotto Beach Action Group(GAG)sayshe is “extremelypleased thatthe amphitheatre concept will not be en-tertained further and I am sure all thesupporters of our Action Group and at-tendees of the 18 January meeting willfeel the same. We will now get legal ad-vice as to what paperwork and notifica-tions are required to ensure that thisidea cannot be resurrected sometime inthe future”.

As for the restaurant site, he says: “Mypersonal view is that the overwhelmingopinion at the 18 January meeting wasthat the restaurant should be on the ex-isting Dutchies site and not on the oldNautilus site. I think the view was ex-pressed at the meeting that it is indeeddisturbing that the Overstrand Munici-pality intends relying on the fact thatthe old restaurant was on the site beforethe laws were changed. They have theperfect opportunity to move the build-ings back to the setback lines prescribedby the new laws. I am sure this subjectwill be further investigated by some ofthe 18 January attendees. As for my per-sonal view: I cannot imagine how terri-ble a restaurant on stiltswill look at thatlocation.”

With regards to the envisaged rehabil-itation of the wetland and upgrading ofthe picnic area, of which the attendeeswere in favour, the municipality con-firms that this will still form part of theprocess. The picnic area (where the am-phitheatre was planned) will be land-scaped with shaded facilities and uti-lized as a picnic and braai area.

Asked what the next step is now, themunicipality responded that the BARwill be amended and include plans re-flecting the amendments and will bemade available on the Overstrand web-site. All registered parties will be noti-fied in the prescribed manner as deter-mined by legislation, whichwill includea comment period.

The final BAR, once the latter publicparticipation process has been final-ised, will be submitted to the Depart-ment of Environmental Affairs and De-velopment Planning for consideration. All documentation of the public partici-pation process will form part of the finalBAR, said the municipality.

Only three resi-dents are still liv-ing in the oncepopular De MondCaravan Park inVoëlklip, wheregenerations of thesame family hadspent idyllic holi-days formorethanhalf a century.

The park now re-sembles a ghosttown after the morethan 200 members ofthe De Mond Cara-van Park Association (DMCPA) were forcedto leave the premises more than a year ago –with the exception of five individuals.

Now Elizabeth Theron (81), Keith Hamp-shire (63) and Hanna Auret (66) are the onlyones left of the five residents who were ex-empt from the eviction order handed downbytheWesternCapeHighCourton10Decem-ber 2012.

Unlike the other members, who only spentholidays at the camp and who own otherproperty, they claim to be living there on apermanentbasisandthat theyhavenowhereelse to go.

Theron, Hampshire and Auret wereservedwithyet another evictionorder inOc-tober 2013 and according to Desmond Lakey, seniormanagerfor legalservicesat theOver-strand Municipality, the matter is on the un-opposed High Court roll of 28 February.

This latest development comes after theOverstrandMunicipality, whoownsthelandon which the park is situated, decided notto renew their lease with the DMCPA, whichexpired on 29 February 2012.

Following a protracted court battle, mem-bers of the DMCPA were given only 11 days, until 21December 2012, to vacate the premis-es and another three months after that dur-ing which they were allowed to gain accessfor the purpose of removing their caravansand Plettenberg-style homes which they haderected on their stands over the years.

Several members sold these structures, along with furniture and other belongings,

at anauction inFeb-ruary 2013 to recoupsome of the costs, but most of themwere dissatisfiedwith the bidsachieved, whichthey considered tobe only a fraction ofthe real value.

Others took whatthey could removethemselvesandsim-ply left the rest be-hind. The camp isstill strewn withrubble and dilapi-dated structures.

“There was no or-der for compensation of members of the DM-CPA as the lease allowed them only to erectmovable structures and compelled them toremove themon termination of the lease andalso these structures did not improve theland,” says Lakey.

The municipality intends to develop thesite as a public resort in accordance with therestrictive condition contained in the origi-nal Crown Grant of 1942, which states thatthe land may not be sold and may only beused for resort recreational purposes.

“Public resorts such as camping and cara-van parks are usually utilised on a seasonalbasis forarelativelyshortperiodeachyear,”says Stephen Müller, director of infrastruc-tureandplanningatOverstrandMunicipali-ty.

“As a result they are often not financiallyviable and do not represent optimal utilisa-tion of scarce resources.”

Müller says if, however, facilities were tobe provided to accommodate large tourist orconference groups throughout the year, oc-cupancy rates may be increased by a consid-erablemargin,holdingmanypositiveadvan-tages for the broader local community. Hesays thatwhencombined, the landunderdis-cussion presents an excellent opportunityfor this type of development.

AccordingtoRiaanKuchar, seniormanag-er: town planning and property administra-tion, themunicipality is finalisingthetenderdocuments and the tender will be advertisedbefore the end of this month.

It is in this modest Plettenbergstyle home in the now deserted De Mond Caravan Park that81yearold Elizabeth Theron awaits her fate. She has lived here for 17 years and, being dependent on a state pension, she claims to have nowhere else to go. PHOTOS: HEDDA MITTNER

The park has been littered with rubble andhas not been cleaned since the members ofthe De Mond Caravan Park Association wereevicted more than a year ago.

This small familyrun cheesery on the banks of theKlein River is no stranger to accolades, and they have been producingmulti awardwinning Gruyere for many years. The milk for their cheesescomes from three neighbouring farms where the herds graze on the valley’s fertile pastures. The Oak Smoked Stanford is matured for three tofour months and cold smoked, with the addition of shavings from oakwine barrels giving the cheese its unique flavour. Woolworths introducedthe Cheese Maker’s Challenge in 2011 to encourage small, local cheeseries to create new and exciting cheeses.

Quick thinking, a positive atti-tude and swift action were need-ed to save the day when a couplecancelled their wedding onlyhours before the fairytale eventwas to take place in Hermanus.

Karen Wurbach from Best Daysevent planning and co-ordination,says she received a call on Saturdaymorning from the not-so-lucky cou-ple, who lives in Gauteng, to canceltheir beach-themed wedding sched-uled for 15:30 that afternoonatKam-mabaai. The ceremonywas tobe fol-lowed by a reception at the Class-room restaurant, where Kevin andSumien Warwick were to serve the32 confirmed wedding guests athree-course dinner.

Karen had everything ready, from the decor and flowers to theprintedmenusand theDJ, chefAnlivan Vuuren had already baked thewedding cake and Kevin and histeam were about to start preppingall the food when they received thenews.

“The tables had been set, we hadorganisedthewaitersandhadtakenno bookings for lunch or dinner be-cause thevenuehadbeenbookedex-clusively for the wedding recep-tion,” says Sumien.

“At first we did not know how toreactbecause it feltunreal. Inall theyears that Kevin has done cateringfor weddings, this has never hap-pened. All we’d received was a de-posit from the bride.”

“At firstwewere justdevastated,”says Karen. “Kevin was about to lethis staff go and close up for theevening, but then I thought: let’s

rather dó something!”After consulting with the War-

wicks they decided to go aheadwiththe reception and set about invitingpeople to enjoy the dinner at a dis-counted rate in order to recoupsome of their losses.

“Within a few hours we managedto round up more than double theamount of people than those whoweretohaveattendedthe(real)wed-ding,” says Karen cheerfully. Thepop-up wedding proved immenselypopular and she says they had “agreat party”.

“We made up two scarecrowsfrom the Hemel-en-Aarde GardenMarket to look like the bride andgroom and they were seated at thebridal table next to the weddingcake,” says Sumien.

“The DJ played the weddingmarchandKevin,actingasMC,pro-posed a toast to the couple in theirabsence. The ‘wedding guests’chimed in with ‘...for they are jollygood fellows’, the dance floor wasopened by Karen in the arms of the

‘groom’ and at the end there werethe usual thank you speeches.”

Sumien says the guests partieduntil late and had an unforgettablyfun evening.

Says Karen: “Thanks to everyonepulling together, including DieterLauff from Function Hire who do-nated all the glassware and DJJamesPeiserwhokept everyoneen-tertained, we were able to turn amost unfortunate situation intoHermanus’s first pop-up wedding.”

The illfated ‘bride’ and ‘groom’were toasted in their absence anda great wedding party was enjoyed by all.

Unity in diversity

If the letters and SMSes sent to the Hermanus Times in the last two weeks areanything to go by, the main topic of conversation is currently the proposed retailshopping mall in Sandbaai. The fact that opinion is divided is not

necessarilly a bad thing, as it brings different aspects of the development andits possible effects, both negative andpositive, to the fore.It is essential that we as residents take

all these differing opinions into consideration so that we can be proactive instead of reactive, as is so often the case.Any development, especially of this

magnitude, has an impact on our town, and consequences that have to beanticipated. The level of response so far is a clear

indication that as residents we all caredeeply for our town, and the preservation of its future as both a prime touristdestination and a place we feel privileged to call home.

Arguments for and against shopping mallWhen it comes to shopping malls, Her-manus residents have diverse opinions, none of which are, of course, irrelevant.

There are two broad schools of thought:“for” and “against”.

Both schools have compelling argu-ments to support their particular stand-point.

In August 2012 I took a fairly strongstance against the Whale Coast VillageMall (the mall) which was followed upwith an article in HT on 12 December 2012.My argument, which forms the basis ofthose ‘against’, was:

) Creates additional supply of shoppingspace.

) Consumer base essentially remainsstatic.

)Doesnotnecessarilycreateadditionallong term jobs.

) Existing “cake” sliced in smaller slic-es.

) Viability of old and existing business-es being compromised.

) Attracting down-market businessesto the CBD.

For every 10 m² (real number is 3 m²) ofshopping space built outside the CBD, theCBD will lose 1 m² – therefore the CBDstands to lose some 2 870 m²,– creating avacuum of surplus space. We have alreadyseen a move of the CBD towards the devel-opments on the eastern boundary of theCBD. The vacuum being filled by down-market establishments.

There are many case studies where thiswas evident, for example George, Pletten-berg Bay, Rustenburg, Somerset West etc.

It is a pity that we have waited two yearsto wake up at the eleventh hour about thereality of the mall.

Things have also changed since 2012 andthe National Development Plan was intro-duced to address poverty, unemploymentand inequality.

The Overstrand has a population ofsome 84 000 people, 47 000 of whom live inthe greater Hermanus area. Officially theunemployment rate is 23% (my guess, itis hugely understated), but among theyouth, which makes up more than 25% ofthe population, it is 35%.

From an income perspective more than67% of the population earns less thanR6 400 per month and some 52% less thanR3 200, of which 16% have no income. Theaverage per capita income is aroundR2 200. With negative savings this makesthe Overstrand a very poor community.

Our town is in dire need of investmentsin businesses in order to create jobs andbroaden the tax base. I am sure that RetailAfricadidtheirhomeworkinordertoearna reasonable return on their investmentand on that score the viability of the mallis entirely their risk.

The mall should create some 500 – 1 000direct and indirect temporary jobs duringthe construction phase and possibly an-other50–100permanent jobs.Consideringthat since 2004 only ±1 200 jobs were creat-ed, it stands to reason that any additionaljobscreated, against thecurrenteconomicbackground, is to be encouraged.

It should also have a knock-on effect onlocal businesses and this needs to be ad-dressed, given the history of previous de-velopments where local businesses wereside-lined.

There is a window of opportunity fromnow until construction has been complet-ed, during which the plans of the CBDCommittee in conjunction with Over-strand Municipality can be refined andimplemented to reinvent the CBD as some-thing we all can be proud of.

We know what the problems are. It ishow we work around these problems to-wards a positive result that becomes thechallenge. Cape Town did it, so can we.

For the record, I still think that the mall,as the two parking garages with the bestviews in the world, are the products of alack of a clear vision and strategy for Her-manus and should never have happened.

However, given the current economicimperatives I believe on balance of thefacts, it is in the interest of the broadercommunity that the mall goes ahead – weneed the investment and the creation ofjobs.

There is no alternative that I am awareof. The consequences of not having an al-ternativestrategytocreate jobsandallevi-ate poverty could be dire. This should con-cern all of us.

Public participation (real face-to-face,not just the mechanical ticking of boxes)and complete transparency will be neededduring the lead up to the construction ofthe mall to ensure that hard pressed rate-payers don’t see the council transfer ahuge debt burden or increased rates/tar-iffs to fund infrastructure related to thedevelopment of the mall.

The ratepayers should not be out-of-pocket as a result of this development.

PIET LOUW

What I have read in the Hermanus Times re-garding the mall in the last while boggles themind. My family and I moved to Hermanusjust over a year ago, and we are proud to callHermanus home. The only disappointmentfor us is the constant delays in the buildingof the mall.

To see the reactions from some sections ofthecommunitytothemall issurprising.Someof the arguments raised are simply ludicrous. If you want to question the accuracy of re-search done, where is the research you havedone?

It seems some interesting conclusions arereached based on nothing but perceptions.TheCBDneedsrevitalisation,mallornomall.Get on with it.

Wanneer is reëneers regtig reën?

Light rain measuring no more than 0,8 mm can be expectedtoday (Thursday) between 11:00 and 17:00. But because of thewarm upper air, the moisture moving in from the sea will notbe able to rise sufficiently to form clouds that could bring morerain. The Overstrand will enjoy sunny skies over the weekend.

Bird identificationcourse offersmoreThe Flight for Birders bird identificationand conservation course by Anton Odendalwill be presented at the community hall atMollergren Park on 21 and 22 February.

The content of the course was changeddramatically at the end of 2013, says Oden-dal. “In 2014 we will be celebrating the 10thanniversary of the course and will now becelebrating our country’s birds with photo-graphs by some of the topwildlife photogra-phers in South Africa.

“Much stronger emphasis is also beingplaced on conservation issues, in line withtheMOU signed between the Overberg divi-sionofCapeNatureandBirdLifeOverberg.”

A new addition to the course is a sectionfocusing on the differences between the var-ious families of LBJs and other confusingspecies, as well as birds of prey, and howthis applies to the region where the courseis being presented.

“In many cases images of similar and po-tentially confusing species have been com-bined on the same slide in order to illustratedifferences,” says Odendal.

“Thedevelopmentofan infrastructure forbirding tourists in local areas will also behighlighted. Inthevastmajorityof theslidesEnglish andAfrikaans names of species areprinted onto the slide. The course focuseson basic steps in the identification of birds, places heavy emphasis on where to find therareandoftenendemicbirds insouthernAf-rica and illustrates how ordinary bird-watchers could become involved in the con-servation of birds and their habitats.”

The cost of the course is R500 per personand includes the course manual, a certifi-cate endorsed by BirdLife South Africa anda year’s free membership to BirdLife Over-berg.

Parts of the proceeds of the courses willbe donated to Black Harrier conservation.

Bot River Estuarywild filly operated onThe Equestrian Centre Over-strand was contacted by Cape-Nature on Friday 7 Februaryfor assistance regarding a fillywhich had damaged her eyeand had a very bad infection. This was reported by DanieGeldenhysofFisherhavenwhosent photos of the injury.

Rooisand Nature Reservenature conservator, Tarné Jo-hannes, forwarded the photosto Dr Anna Bowker of Her-manus Vet Hospital. After ex-amining the photos, Bowkerwas of the opinion that the onlytreatment that might save thefilly was to operate and removethe eye as the eyeball had shrunk andsunk into the eye socket. She wouldhowever first check the eye beforemaking a decision, she said.

Sarah Milton from the EquestrianCentre Overstrand assisted with cap-turing and restraining the mare andfilly on Monday 10 February. Thecentre was also able to help themwith the operation and the use oftheir horsebox for the transporta-tion.

Once the filly and mare were locat-ed in Fisherhaven, Bowker decidedto move them to the centre’s stablesnear Rooisand Nature Reserve forthe operation and post treatment.

The loading of the horses went welland both horses experienced very lit-tle stress. When they arrived at theequestrian centre, they were sedatedand the filly had her pre-operativetreatment. The operation was suc-cessful with the eye being removed

from the socket. Had the eyebeen left, the infection wouldhave worked its way into thebrain causing loss of mobilityand eventually death.

“The eye was then stitchedback up and we waited for thefoal to wake up,” says Milton.“At first she was a bit wobblyon her legs, so we stayed withthem to make sure that shedidn’t fall over or hurt herself. She came out of the operationvery well.”

Afterwards, both the mareand filly rested in the paddockovernight. The vet will contin-ue to treat the filly as required.

It was a good day for the preserva-tion of the Bot River Estuary wildhorses. “The collaboration by all par-ties was excellent and very helpful inassuring that the filly and mare suf-fered very little stress,” says Milton.“A big thank you to Anna, the vet,who gave up her time to help and didsuch a great job.

“Let’s pray for a speedy recoveryand that they can be reunited withthe herd as soon as possible.”

BSEGMENTCOMPACTCAR: LOWCOSTOFOWNERSHIP

Fordunveils Figo conceptQUICKPIC

Ford today revealed its visionfor a global B-segment com-pact car featuring premium

design and segment-redefiningsmart and safety features aheadofthe12th2014AutoExpoinNewDelhi.

With the global unveiling of theFord Figo Concept, Ford aims to setnew standards for quality andcraftsmanship in the B-segment,aiming to exceed the expectations ofconsumers in emerging markets.Created at less than four metreslong, the concept displays a pur-poseful presence and a no-compro-miseaestheticthatcontinuesFord’sdesign leadership in the compactcar market globally.

“With the Figo Concept, we areshowingthatchoosingacompactse-dan does not mean compromisingon premium design or smart solu-tions,” said Kumar Galhotra, vicepresident of Engineering, GlobalProduct Development, Ford MotorCompany. “The Figo Conceptstands out and surprises, offering amore premium and refined feel thanyou would expect in such a pack-age.”

The Ford Figo Concept builds onthe automaker’s compact car offer-ings and shows how Ford plans toface rapidly growing global demandfor compact vehicles. Despite itsrapid growth, the compact car seg-ment will remain highly competi-tive as increasingly savvy buyerslook for ways to make their moneygo further.

“Consumers are more demandingthan ever, wanting and expectingmore from their cars, even if theyare first-time buyers,” said Ford

India President Nigel Harris. “Theyexpect and demand great fuel effi-ciency and low cost-of-ownershipfrom the initial price throughoutthe life of the vehicle. The Ford FigoConcept offers all of this, and more, with sophistication, fresh design,world-class quality, a roomy interi-or, and innovative smart and safetechnology.”

With the goal of bringing unex-pected levels of refinement to thecompact car segment, designers cre-ated the Ford Figo Concept using de-sign elements common to more ex-pensive vehicles.

The front trapezoidal grillestrongly communicates Ford’s de-sign DNA and shapes the vehicle’shood, givingitapowerful look.Mov-ing rearward, designers inclinedthe windshield as much as possibleto give the vehicle a sleek, fast pro-file that communicates a high-endimage. Bold, elongated and blacked-out headlamps accentuate the FigoConcept’s sporty appearance. In anexample of the close attention de-signers paid to the smallest detail,a slight grain in the headlamp plas-tic enhances the parabolic shape in-side. Sweeping, curved lines mov-ing from the front to the rear of thevehicle create a sense of movement.Designers used light-catchers alongthe sides of the vehicle, giving theFigo Concept a robust and muscularpresence.

“The Figo Concept represents ourvision of a refined, no-compromiseapproach to designing a compactcar,” said Ehab Kaoud, chief design-er, Ford North America, who led de-sign for the Ford Figo Concept. “Sooften in this segment you see de-signs based on current trends andfashions that quickly look dated. Wewantedinsteadtocreateapremium,

long-lasting design that is clean andelegant, and which conveys a senseofprecision,efficiencyandsophisti-cation.”

The shape of the Ford Figo Con-cept is more than a design exercise:It was fine-tuned through hundredsof hours of wind-tunnel testing toimprove aerodynamics and reducewind noise, ensuring a quiet ridethat will match the vehicle’s refinedexterior. Aerodynamic tweakinghas also resulted in a shape thatmaximises fuel efficiency, helpingthe Ford Figo Concept to slipsmoothly through the air.

Smart design features like electri-

cally adjustable power-fold mirrorsare practical, helping to remove thestress of driving through a congest-ed environment. The mirrors’ flexi-ble architecture prevents themfrom being broken off if bumped byanother car or motorbike. And Forddesigned the Ford Figo Concept tofeature unprecedented levels ofsafety for its class, further enhanc-ing the driver’s peace of mind.

Moving inside a spacious cabinfilled with innovative stowage spac-es, the Ford Figo Concept deliverssurprising features that bring thepromise of tomorrow’s technologiesto drivers of compact vehicles. With

an innovative device dock, the FigoConcept introduces a new way tostore, mount and charge devicessuch as mobile phones, MP3 playersand satellite navigation systems, seamlessly integrating them intothe in-car entertainment system.

“In design, connectivity and safe-ty, the features in the Figo Conceptare at the forefront of smart technol-ogy,” said Galhotra.

“The Figo concept was createdwith global standards of design, quality and performance. It is theperfect symbol of how we continueto build on the One Ford plan to gofurther for all of our customers.”

With the goal of bringing unexpected levels of refinement to the compact car segment, designers created theFord Figo Concept using design elements common to more expensive vehicles. PHOTO: QUICKPIC

Milnerdonatesartpieces tohospiceDorothy Milner, known by herfriends as Dotty, has generously do-nated two pieces ofart from her latehusband Leslie’sconsiderable col-lection toOpportu-nityArt 3,which isto be hosted on29 March by Over-strand Hospice.

Dotty has retiredfrom the family-owned businessknown as New YorkBagels and Deli inSea Point.Leslie Milner was

a pioneer in the foodindustry in SouthAfrica, establishinga frozen foodplant, apickledcucumber facto-ry,andthecountry’s firstsmokedsalmonfac-tory, which supplied to the local industry aswell as exported to Australia, Germany andCanada.“Leslie did not speculate in art, he trusted

his instincts andmade choices motivated bythe sheer enjoyment his collection provid-ed,” says Dotty. Consequently many of thesepaintings have never been seen outside thecircle of Milner’s family and friends. He waswell known for his pioneering work in thefood industry, but many people will be sur-prised to discover his passion for art.In the 1950s Leslie met Solly Disner, a ten-

ant inhisgardens factory. Itwas throughSol-ly, himself a sculptor andart dealer, thatLes-liewas introduced to the leadingCapeartists

of the time.Hewouldsometimesacceptartin lieu of rent, in-cluding importantworks by MaggieLaubser, Paul duToit and Morris vanEssche, but his firstacquisition was no-tably Irma Stern’sStill life with TigerLilies and a Melon.Dotty recalls how

furious she was withhim when hebrought the paintinghome, as they stillhad no chairs in thehouse. He formed en-during ties with theart world, includingGerald Sekoto, whowas exiled and livingin Paris, and is now

a highly respected South African artist. It is from this collection that Dotty has do-

nated two early works by Cape Town artistStanley Hermans. Hermans has had severalprivate commissions and his work is dis-played in the South African National Gal-lery, Durban Art Gallery and the Sasol andSanlam collections.Overstrand Hospice thanks Dotty and the

Milner family sincerely for their interest inthis project. As Opportunity Art 3, a wonderful event

whichhasprovidedashowcaseof talenteachyear and enabled the entire community anopportunity to buy some piece of art that“talks” to them, gainsmomentum, theorgan-isers urge all artists, both casual and profes-sional, to donate a piece of their choice.

Dotty Milner has contributed two paintingsfrom her late husband’s impressive art collection to Overstrand Hospice’s OpportunityArt 3 fundraiser which takes place at theend of March.
