Trick or Treat for UNICEF

Spend this Halloween evening dressing up with your friends, and eliminating Maternal Neo-Natal Tetanus! It only takes $1.80 to save a mother and her child from contracting this deadly disease, so remind your candy givers that they have just saved 2 lives. For the next 4 years, funds from the Trick or Trick for UNICEF efforts will support The Eliminate Project. The Goal: To raise US$110 million and eliminate MNT from the world by 2015.

Be part of the impact- The Kiwanis Family has already raised US$16 million! If you’re feeling especially inspired, this is your opportunity to host events just to support UNICEF. Happy Trick or Treating!

Happy October, Kiwis!

I hope the school year has started off wonderfully for all of you, and that you’ve had much success in your first few meetings and recruiting new members. Now that we’re getting back into the loop of things, it’s important to remember your deadlines! That is, dues for treasurers, MRFs for secretaries, submissions for editors, and rosters for presidents. Please enjoy this issue, and see you all at RTC and Fall Rally! Stay caring, stay active, and stay serving J

Though it may seem far away, the holiday season is quickly approaching. Spread good cheer these next few months by volunteering at food banks, soup kitchens, or Salvation Army meals! Hold a non-perishable food drive! Providing gift wrapping services and collecting books/toys to donate are also great opportunities.

This is also a good time to spend time with your local elementary school students, whether it is playing sports, doing arts and crafts, educating, or reading to them.

On October 6th, Key Club International is supporting Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play. Your club can do your part by inviting kids from your community to an event where all they do is play! The point is to let kids know worldwide how important playing and fun is! Visit http://tinyurl.com/WWdayOP

Key Leader is an overnight leadership program that focuses on service leadership. Many Key Leader graduates remember Key Leader as the best weekend of their lives. With workshops, discussions, and bonding activities, this retreat helps students grow as team players and leaders.

“A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership- it comes from helping others succeed,” remarks the Key Leader Website.

A Key Leader event near us will take place from

November 9-11 at Camp Jones Gulch in La Honda. Kiwanis awards all Key Clubbers a scholarship discount for the program fee. There will also be a scholarship opportunity to have your program fee reimbursed by our district. For more information on Key Leader, check out: http://tinyurl.com/aboutKeyLeader
