Key Club Week gives you the opportunity to show your community
what Key Club is truly about: service. Each day places an emphasis on
service, to promote Key Club within our homes, schools and communi-
ties and to make Key Club a household name.
Do your part to make sure Key Club Week—Nov. 4-8, 2013—starts Ki-
wanis Family Month with a bang. Join other Key Clubs from around the
world by following the suggested theme days. Not only will people
learn more about Key Club, it is also another chance for you to grow
your club in numbers, but also another chance for you to increase the
service in your school!

Show your K in every way— Show people what Key Club is all about! Spread the word by wear-
ing Key Club gear and publicizing Key throughout the school with
posters, announcements, a lunch booth, toilet talk, promote and
spread the word of Key Club in any way you can!
Kudos to the Key players— Personally thank all the Key Club supporters you know—teachers,
advisors and other Key players. Write thank-you notes, host an ap-
preciation dinner or do something uniquely your own style to rec-
ognize the contributions of these special people.
Connect the Ks— Key Club is the largest high school service organization in the world
and is a member of the Kiwanis family. Celebrate the entire family
of Kiwanis by getting the whole gang involved. Connect with local
Kiwanis, Circle K International, Builders, Kiwanis Kids or Aktion clubs
and team up for a joint service project.
Bring a friend to Key Club— More members = more service. Increasing the amount of service
Key Club performs increases the impact Key Club has on the world.
Bring a friend, or two, or more to your next Key Club meeting.
Your way— This is your club’s chance to do its own thing and make its mark.
Pick a project, plan a recruitment party or combine activities from
the other Key Club Week days. Whatever idea you choose, take it
and run with it.
Note: These days are interchangeable - be creative!

For their fall fundraiser, GHS Key
Club put together a class com-
petition together as an incentive
to raise as much donations and
awareness as possible for the
Eliminate Project. The fundraiser
was featured in a pep assembly
to raise school-wide awareness.
In only three days of starting the
fundraiser, GHS Key Club has
raised over $200 for the Eliminate
Project. The class competition will
go on until the first week of No-
vember in hopes of raising $4,000
for the cause.
Have you ever watched the Portland Macy’s Day Parade on Black
Friday? Ever wondered who the people underneath the costumes
were? Well if so, the people in those costumes are actually mem-
bers of Century High School Key Club. The 59-or-so key clubbers
that volunteer to make the event happen wake up VERY early and
commute to Portland on the Max at around 6am or so. Not only
are these members dedicated to entertaining the Portland-metro
community, this parade also happens to be one of the club’s larg-
est fundraisers, which raise over $1,500 so that Century Key Club
can continue to function as a successful Key Club. 17

DIVISION 65 DESIGN CONTEST This year, instead of having club T-shirts, the Division 65
Board decided to have EVERY Key Clubber from Divi-
sion 65 wear the exact same design. That way, people
will know WHO exactly division 65 is, and WHAT we do.
Together, under one shirt, we can UNITE as a division
and show off our pride for service.
Design contest will go on until October 12th and voting
will begin promptly after. If you have any designs,
please email it to [email protected]!

Last year, Glencoe Key
Club chose the Polar
Plunge for their Winter
Fundraiser to raise funds
for Special Olympics
Oregon. The club raised
over $1,000 for the cause
through a series of bake
sales and door to door
fundraising in the span of
two weeks. This year,
GHS Key Club will be
partnering up with the
Buddy Club (engaging
special needs students)
and the Kindness Matters
Club to raise funds for
the Special Olympics,
but also to Spread the
Word to End the Word.

I highly encourage every Key Club in our
division to form a team and actively par-
ticipate in raising funds and jumping in the
Polar Plunge this next February 8th. The Po-
lar Plunge is a HUGE fundraiser for a really
great cause that hits close to home for
many of us who have family or friends with
special needs, but not only that, this event
is SUPER fun!
