For those of you who are new to Key Club or don’t know me, my name is Nicasia Beebe-Wang, and I’m your Lieutenant Governor (LTG) for the 2012-2013 service year. As LTG, I serve as liaison between the District (NY) and the Division (schools on eastern Long Island). I’ll be holding various divisionals and events this year, and am always available to help each club out. Over the summer, I attended the International Convention and two NY District Board meetings to plan with the district for this service year. I’m so excited to serve you all this year as LTG! The 2012-2013 school year is now in full swing, and schoolwork and extracurricular activities have started up again. Put community service at the top of your to-do list this year! Recruit new Key Clubbers, and strengthen attendance with those already in your Key Clubs. Set service goals for the entire school year, and let the excitement and enthusiasm of the year ahead propel you forward in your service projects. Be sure to attend divisional and inter-divisional events, as they’ll connect you with other wonderful Key Clubbers in Suffolk County and keep you up to date with the New York District. Youth Opportunities Fund

Governor Daniel Ivan Lin

byline [Name]

YOF, also known as the Youth Opportunities Fund, is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation. The fund allows for Key Clubs and their members to serve the world, have fundraisers, and other great things by providing grants for service opportunities. Clubs are allowed to apply for these funds if necessary to assist their club’s functioning and to help them accomplish things that they want to do like raise money for Eliminate, host a local senior center dance, etc. You too can apply for these funds. Clubs may request funding assistance for anywhere from $100 to $2000. Applications for the YOF are due by Monday, October 15th. You will find out whether or not your club has received the grant no later than January 15th. Remember to ask reasonably and be considerate, because there are many clubs out there that need these grants too. I hope this will be a helpful resource for your club this year and for the years to come. For more information, please follow the links provided:

Editors, has your club done any interesting and exciting service projects or fundraisers? Write a short article about the project (up to 250 words). Send the article to me and to the district editor Holy (see contact info section), and your article could be featured as a service spotlight in my newsletter, or even a district-wide newsletter!

The beginning of the school year is the busiest time for club treasurers. As treasurer, it is your responsibility to collect dues from club members.
