The good ladies at the Shelter are now putting pictures of strays brought in by the cities on their Lost and Found section of the website, www.acarf.org. If you’re missing a pet, check there first. They must wait three days before listing on Petfind-ers, so this will give pet owners a “heads up”. Thank you, Ladies!
The Shelter reports—not just a need—but a dire need—for bleach. They opened the last bottle on Friday, and it’s used for many, many things.

The last of Jim Smith’s 18 pur-chased Kuranda beds have ar-rived! How great for the animals!
Former employee Bev-erly Higgenbotham came to the Shelter and clipped nails in Adopt and Stray. She’ll finish in Stray next week.
Thanks, Bev!
The color of Christ-mas at the Shelter is all due to the efforts of our dedicated dog walker, Judy Laver. She decorates every season and does much to main-tain the morale and comfort of all.
Thanks, Judy!

Christmas Homes Tour 2011
Humboldt United Methodist Church
Ray and Donna Salzwedel
Despite the gloomy weather predictions of maybe rain, maybe snow, maybe bitter cold, the strangely perverse Kansas weather brought bright sunny skies with tem-peratures in the 40’s. It was a perfect day for Humboldt to “show off”—and they did! They literally glowed. Visitors were treated to all the sights and scents of Christ-mas—from the sophisticated to the nostalgic to the whimsi-cal; to ornately decorated trees to lavish collections lov-ingly displayed, to the histori-cal at Pat Haire’s, the cultural at Works of Art, the religious at the United Methodist Church, and the glamorous, the culinary, and the musical at Terry’s. It was all just splendid. Many thanks to those who went to so much effort to make the day special:

Harley Wayne
This week’s featured pet is Harley Wayne. Everyone at the shelter loves Harley! He’s a very social fellow; Harley simply loves people. He’s always hoping to go on a walk, and he is very good on a leash. Although well into his adult years, he has a puppy’s zest for life. This beautiful boy has been at the shelter for a long time. As sad as we will be to see Harley leave us, we know he deserves to have a happy home of his own with the lucky person who adopts him.
