INTRODUCTION

The Aids is one of the world health priorities, and HIV

vertical transmission is the main route of HIV infection in

children.

There is a 0.41% prevalence of HIV infection in pregnant women in Brazil, with an

estimated 12,456 newborns exposed to the virus each year.

Thus, the Ministry of Health recommends a set of measures

to be undertaken during the prenatal, childbirth and

seropositive women, when implemented in its entirety,

reduce the rate of HIV Vertical Transmission of 25% at levels

between 1% and 2%.

INTRODUCTION • However, despite the high efficacy of prophylaxis to reduce the

chances TV, studies suggest several factors that still hinder lower rates of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, among them the lack of knowledge on the part of pregnant women in relation to preventive measures.

• In this context, the lack of conducting participatory and dialogued educational activities targeted to pregnant and postpartum women seropositive by the allied health professionals to failures in the degree of knowledge of the same TV on the prevention of HIV negative impact on the vulnerability of the mother-son. Nevertheless, studies show that health education is an effective means for the prevention of vertical transmission.

validation of the material by subject matter experts and representatives of

the target audience.

RESULTS• The first step of the construction process of primer corresponded to the

survey content. To do so, we performed a search of scientific papers on the theme of the booklet on bases of national and international data and publications of the Ministry of Health of Brazil.

• This search aimed at surveying the existing information in the studies about the care that mothers should have for the prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV in order to enrich the primer complementary to the guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health.

• That done, there was the selection of the key information to be addressed in the booklet. Then took place and BOOK REPORT perusal of the selected material, and chronological and coherent organization of the contents of each section of the booklet, considering that this material should have combined wealth of information to objectivity.

RESULTS• In designing the illustrations step, one expert was contacted for design

creation and composition of graphics.

• We attempted to assemble a graphics-rich material in order to facilitate the understanding of covered care, especially for those patients with difficulty in reading.

RESULTS• A primer on the study consisted of

twenty-eight pages. All pages of the booklet were counted sequentially, but the numbers in Arabic numerals only started to be recorded from the first page text in its lower margin. The booklet was with A5 paper size (148x210 mm).

• The cover of the booklet was composed by the title "How to prevent transmission of HIV from mother to child?” Get inside! Institution linked to the development of the material (Graduate Program in Nursing, Federal University of Ceará) and name of the authors.

RESULTS

• Finally, to complete the layout of the booklet, the designer sent a pre-validation version of the
